Well, you've read the notes, the notes were soporific, and now it is time for you to post until the soporific cows come home.

TOD:  I can't imagine that I hadn't had some Mexican dishes growing up, like some tacos or a Mexican-style pizza here and there -

But the first Mexican restaurant I vividly recall visiting (and going back to many times) was Chi-Chi's when I was at law school in the very early 1980s.

Chi-Chi's restaurants disappeared in the early 2000's, but there was this article in the Times last year saying it's been poised for a comeback.

https://www.nytimes.com/2024/12/07/business/chi-chis-restaurant-mexican.html

"Chi-Chi’s, the Former Mexican Restaurant Chain, Plans a Comeback
The chain, which closed in 2004, is poised for a revival next year after the son of one of the founders reached a deal with Hormel Foods."

I took several pain meds before I went to bed and I slept quite well. I'm moving very cautiously this morning, and I'm worried about my balance.

Around 1946, my dad's brother moved his family from Ohio to Tucson. His daughter had terrible asthma issues, and her doctors advised a warmer, dryer climate. I don;t know how my aunt and uncle settled on Tucson, but for the next twelve years or so, my only nformation on one of my dad's brothers came from annual Christmas day long distance phone calls.

In December 1958, my family drove to Tucson for Christmas.  We left on Monday Dec. 14, and my memory is that the trip took four days - I think it took us two days just to cross Texas - and we left Tucson on Dec. 26.

Now to the TOD: my uncle was construction worker, and one of his investments was a Mexican restaurant, where I had my first taste of Mexican food. Several days after we landed in Tucson, my family and my aunt drove south to Nogales where we had more Mexican food for lunch. I don't think I had any Mexican food after 1958 until I moved to New York in 1979.

DR Elmore, remember I used to make nachos at cast parties?  Do those count?

TOD - I first heard about Mexican food in the early ‘60s when my sister began dating the man who would become her husband.  He’d recently finished up his military service in Texas and had developed a fondness there for the cuisine.  My first recollection of eating Mexican food is when my high school Spanish club went to El Nibble Nook in suburban Detroit.  I think they’re still in business.

Here's a pretty good full-stage video of "One Night in Bangkok" from the new CHESS that just got posted.

For those who might insist that Aaron Tveit is a regular guy who puts his pants on "one leg at a time" like the rest of us :) - such a fun choreographic moment at 2:07 into the YouTube

The tempo is slow, but their enunciation is good. I found it a bit tacky.

Chi-Chi's just opened a new restaurant around these parts. The reviews I've seen have been quite good.

I thought it really kicked into high gear around 2-1/2 minutes in.

Again, in the world of dream casting, the world of "is this delusional, or just need the cash to help that happen" -

If Jack Viertel allowed it, Aaron Tveit would surely be a terrific Simon Morley in Skip and Jack's musical of Jack Finney's "Time and Again" - even in a concert presentation

MichaelG could tell us how it played in person.

But I don't think I've ever seen that choreographic move of the chorus dressing the actor and dropping a performer into their pants before.  It sounds like that moment even got them some appreciative applause.

I do recall some quick unusual costume changing within a song in the song that goes "I don't wanna show off" in Drowsy Chaperone, though.
