BK, that Dick van Dyke production of The Music Man played at City Center, I think, in the second year I lived in NYC. I couldn't afford to see anything in those days, so I missed it. Ticket sales were so poor that it closed early, as I recall. I really wanted to see it. Since no one ever talks about it, and you did, please tell us about it.

I talk about it, mostly about Meg Bussert's performance, which all by itself made the production worthwhile viewing.. And fun knowing years later that Christian Slater was the Winthrop in that production.  (At the time, Christian Slater was growing up in Manhattan Plaza.)

This is the answer to my Google AI query.
"The query points to the 1980 Broadway [actually City Center, as Larry said]
revival of Meredith Willson's musical The Music Man, where Dick Van Dyke starred as Professor Harold Hill, Meg Bussert played Marian Paroo, and a young Christian Slater played the shy Winthrop Paroo, a performance that marked Slater's Broadway debut and earned Bussert a Theatre World Award. "

I didn 't know that! Iggie Wolfington, the original Marcellus, played Mayor Shinn. Meg Bussert is always wonderful. I just love her.

Since BK mentioned Cher in the notes -

It's never a bad time to revisit  the "Streetcar Named Desire" Vamp section from the Sonny and Cher Show, with Cher as Blanche, Burt Reynolds as Stanley and Sonny as the trolleyman on that streetcar named Desire.

From DR John,

This movie has it all. Soccer, fights, romance. The best nonsinging moment was when the champion takes a machine gun to the bad guys and his stunning hair seems to flow with his movements. Brilliant.

Welcome home DR MichaelG.  I hope the detractions on your flight didn't take away from the excellent film you watched.

Jane, it's for Plaza Jalisco where we met that last time you came up to this area. :)

Thank you for answering my question before I asked :)

We really enjoyed that trip and never would have gone if it hadn't been for you.

Antonio Banderas and Elaine Page. Evita.  I wasn’t familiar with this.

The meter was a half a tank. It took less than $20 to fill it up.
