I have started A Different Man. It’s not for the faint of heart. But I am liking the first part.

Welcome home DR MichaelG.  I hope the detractions on your flight didn't take away from the excellent film you watched.

Thanks! The flight was great so no problems focusing on the movie. I probably wouldn't have liked it when it came out, but I sure did now.

I also finally finished up season one of A Man on the Inside so I can get ready for season two. The combination of Ted Danson and Michael Schur is so consistently great.

Saturday afternoon greetings!  You probably figured out that Richard and I were away for Christmas week.  Last Monday we drove to Wheaton, IL, to spend the holiday with our grandchildren (and their parents, of course).  After 3 glorious days, yesterday morning we packed our car and supervised the kiddos while the parents packed their car.  We departed for Ohio and they were right behind us on their way to visit the other grandparents in Michigan.

The meter was a half a tank. It took less than $20 to fill it up.

That's great!

This morning we did some errands and I took an early afternoon nap.  I’m about to make a batch of caramel corn to take to a family gathering tomorrow at our niece’s house.  She and her sisters are the daughters of Richard’s late older brother.  As the elders on that side of their family, we are pleased to have been invited.

We were very disappointed with season two.

George, such lovely photos and story of your Christmas Day and the Day After.  Even more enjoyable told vixmom-style.

And so nice that your friend David comes from Seattle to be with your family!

Thanks, Freddie!  We all had a good couple of days. :)

The second half was a letdown.

And with that thought:

Mariah Carey - All I Want for Christmas Is You
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aAkMkVFwAoo

This song always reminds me of Darlene Love's annual performance of "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" on the David Letterman Show.  Someone put together a "supercut" edit of many of her performances over the years:

I'd like to know when a turkey sandwich rose to 21.50? And if you add cheese? 23.50. And if you get it at Art's Deli? 29.00. And if you add cheese? 31.50. The world has gone mad.

Re The Music Man - Meg was fine. Dick Van Dyke should have been perfect but he wasn't. He was mush-mouthed (I think it was during his drinking days), hard to understand, and just didn't have his sparkle. I blame a lot of the stuff that didn't work on Michael Kidd, who directed and choreographed. He had, by that time, lost whatever he'd had and he had plenty. That same year or a year later he did Irma la Douce with Priscilla Lopez at the Music Center and that was the worst thing I've ever seen on the stage. He didn't seem to trust the material in either show, frankly. But Van Dyke should have been a natural and he just wasn't.

Turkey sandwich has arrived. I get it with American cheese and lettuce. There is literally one tiny leaf of lettuce. Cheapskates.

Since BK mentioned Cher in the notes -

It's never a bad time to revisit  the "Streetcar Named Desire" Vamp section from the Sonny and Cher Show, with Cher as Blanche, Burt Reynolds as Stanley and Sonny as the trolleyman on that streetcar named Desire.

From DR George,

Quote
Jane, it's for Plaza Jalisco where we met that last time you came up to this area. :)

Thank you for answering my question before I asked :)

We really enjoyed that trip and never would have gone if it hadn't been for you.

I'm glad that we were able to meet and dine. :)

How much would you save if you kept the fixings at home?  We will eat bread out of the freezer which you might prefer not to do.

Samayra Coffee looks good.

It wasn't too bad.  It really is just a coffee shop with a few food choices, but the choices are locally produced and better than average.

I hate when that happens on any sandwich with lettuce or tomatoes.
