BTW, My eBay counterfeit software seller got 18 months in prison. He's 55 years old, raised a family with very high achieving children, he'd never been in trouble before, has otherwise been a model citizen.  He wanted probation, but actually the judge gave him a break. His guideline range was 37-46 months.   Beware!

Oh My!   What was he doing? Copying software and reselling it as new?  Was the high sentence for copyright infrigment or for counterfeiting or for selling "stolen goods"?"

BK - I really am getting middle-aged because I can't remember what I posted the giberrish (sp?) about.  It must have been something insignificant, like a tax tip that could have saved everyone here thousands of dollars in taxes, or maybe the solution to Disney's problems over a section of the audience not being able to see anything at TARZAN.  But it couldn't have been anything important, otherwise i would have remembered.

:)

BTW, if anyone from Disney reads this board, and they should, why not just price those six rows of TARZAN seats where people can't see a third of the action at $25 and then everyone will just shut up.  Disney will still make a fortune on the show, and it'll make the market for the best (and heaven help us, premium) seats even hotter than it is right now.

He was copying copies of software, Quark, Adobe, Microsoft etc and selling the copies as used software or backup copies.  He plead to copyright infringement.  The guidelines are based on the retail value of the software, which in several cases was very high. Part of his sentence will be after he is released he will notify people through eBay mail or other ways what can happen if you copyright software.  It was actually his idea to do that and it helped get his sentence a bit lower.

Re: maybe the solution to Disney's problems over half the audience not being able to see anything at TARZAN

I heard (at least this is what Disney publicity is saying, that it's just the last four rows of the orchestra that are partial view. Apparently some of the scenes take place in the air and those in the last four rows of the orchestra won't be able to see what's happening. The Disney people stress that the scenes are VERY SHORT and won't affect your enjoyment of the musical at all, and in fact, the seats in the mezzanine and balcony (The Richard Rodgers FKA 46th Street Theatre has a very high balcony) are very good for seeing those scenes. They also said they make ticket buyers aware of the partial view from those orchestra seats.

4, 6 it's only two rows. Anyway, they are already giving discounts at preview performances. The last rows of the balcony are $38 dollars IIRC. I think they go up to $50 on May 10th when the show opens. You're right, they should charge $25 for the partial view seats. But Disney being Disney, I doubt they will listen to you (FJL) or me.

Cil, will your client be in a hard core facility or a minimum security place? I'm not condoning his actions in any way but 18 months in a maximum security facility seems rather harsh. I guess I have images of Oz (the HBO series) in my brain.

Ben - Yes, I was exaggerating and I'll go back and edit that first post of mine.  I'm actually very much pro-Disney and totally appreciate Disney's side in this.  The warning about the last few rows of the orchestra has been out there for a very long time; Disney has been very good about spreading the word on it when people buy their tickets.

No, his security level is very low. If the Bureau of Prisons sends him to the facility that the judge recommended, it won't be too bad. It's the male equivilent of where Martha Stewart did her time.  It's a former private college in Yankton, SD and still looks like a college. It's a minimum security facility. It's intended for short timers (18 months is a short sentence in federal court) and those who are low security risk - ie, no violence, no guns etc.

There are maximum security prisons. The super max is in Florence, CO. It's where most of the "big name" criminals end up.
