The original theatrical trailer for ANTONIO GAUDI was also on the first disc in the set, and I watched that, too. Criterion didn't even bother to subtitle the last text frames of the trailer. Weird.

She was the most beautiful girl in town, and the easiest to find.  Just call BUtterfield 8!

I love ALpine.

DR JOSE I don't know how the exchanges were chosen.  I think it was a closely guarded secret of the Bell Telephone Company....where the joke used to be, if you don't like us, take your business to another phone company.

Back from a music rehearsal.  I will rant more in tomorrow's notes, but these absolute Nazi cretin bastards at eight-thirty in the morning on a Sunday had the I5 shut down to ONE LANE for seven miles.  It took forty minutes to go go five of those miles.  I hurled some vile epithets as I drove by the workers who, you know, were sweeping the freeway so that it's spotless.  I was so angry I couldn't even see straight.  I tried a new route going home, and while it adds fifteen minutes to the drive, I think I'm going to try it tomorrow because I think it will avoid most of the Hollywood and downtown and I5 traffic - it's taking the 134 to the 210 east which junctions to the 57 which goes all the way to the 91 and lets me off one off-ramp before I get off for the Chance.  So, I'll save ten minutes on the 91 (it takes ten minutes to junction from the 5 to the 91 and then drive all the way to the off-ramp you need for the Chance).

Rehearsal went pretty smoothly.  The guy who read for General Mills, while a very nice chap, is not up to the task.

Is there a drearier movie with a more sparkling cast than SEX AND THE SINGLE GIRL?

Natalie Wood and Tony Curtis are both beautiful, Henry Fonda and Lauren Bacall in their prime....great color, costumes and sets....and still....no go.

Page Seven Dorothy, Lion, Tin Man, and Scarecrow Dance!!!

[Has anyone else ever noticed the grammar error on the sign? It says "Witches Castle" instead of the correct "Witch's Castle." I guess the Ozians weren't so great with possessives.]

It was on in high definition on MOJO the other day, and I watched about 10 minutes of it. Really terrible and such a shame with such a great cast and such lush production values.

Prime Time Musicals was one of the first BK CD's I ever bought, before I even knew who BK was......and it is one of my favorites.

I completed my afternoon viewing with another MEDIUM from Season 1. This one guest starred the oh-so-handsome and sweet Reed Diamond (how I miss JOURNEYMAN!) playing a guy Allison kept insisting was a serial killer. Of course, she finally figured out that she was seeing the future version of him; the one in the present hadn't started killing girls yet.

I love it, too, and I haven't listened to it in years. This might be the one to pull for listening to this week.

I do wish some enterprising company would release the Bacall/Hagman APPLAUSE on DVD. SOme of the show is gone, but I'd still like to have it.

PM me, Matt.   ;)

Has anyone seen the FAMILY AFFAIR dvd's.  They are by MPI who messed up the first season of MAKE ROOM FOR DADDY.  I don't want the syndicated episodes, or if they don't have the full opening credits for each show.

Is there anyone out there old enough to remember Linda Laurie?

The Telephone topic reminded me of "Ambrose (Part Five)"

Linda wrote "Ruby Red Dress" and "Delta Dawn"

I do have it, and it is stunning in every way. Pure reference quality video (audio is very good but regular Dolby Digital so nothing special) that takes the breath away every time I watch any of its eleven segments.

Telephone Won't You Ring (Shelley Fabares)
Hello This Is Joannie (Paul Evans)
Telephone Line (ELO)
Don't Hang Up (The Orlons)

I guess I'll do a little writing and then head down to clean the guest bath and then start with SUPERMAN RETURNS on Blu-ray.

Thanks to DR SlipShod DP Colin and I watched "Company" on Saturday night. I was prepared for the worst and thus quite enjoyed it. The instruments gimmick was distracting and so very not needed! I did not care for "Joanne" (particularly in "The Little Things you Do Together" and whilst I liked the lead, he kept reminding me of how Bronson Pinochet (sp) played in "Putting It Together".  I really enjoyed Marta's "Another Hundred People".
I would think I have seen "Company" more times than any other musical.

At last there seems to be some interesting pop music out there:

Adele "Chasing Pavements" (England?)
Snow Patrol "Chasing Cars" (Irish)
BWO "Sunshine In The Rain" (Swedish)
Duffy "Mercy". (Welsh)

I guess DR Jose may know of these artists.

Linda Gertz was "Linda Laurie".  She toured Australia on the strength(!?) of the novlety hit "Ambrose" (way back in 1959)

DR Jeanne - we only have one more story from "The Street" to watch. We have enjoyed the DVD very much indeed.

Spent most of the day helping Rod from across the street move items from his house to my house. They are moving next weekend and still needed to get rid of a lot of stuff...and wow, some of it was pretty darn nice stuff! They had some furnishings and household items that they thought the new Iraqi family might have some use for, as well as some yard furniture for myself.

I will sure miss that tall, muscular, hunk of a neighbor, and his wife too. Such nice people. Of course Rod works around the corner at the State Mental Hospital (where they filmed ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST," so perhaps he and I can get together for lunch sometime.
