Just took an afternoon break and watched a motion picture I'd TIVOd last night, ate some pasta with butter and cheese, and shall now record a track or two.

As for SNL, I was devoted to it for the first five years or so.  How long were the original "Not Ready for Prime Time" players a part of the show?
Here, immediately following SNL was Chiller Theater with Bill Cardille, which I always stayed up to watch.  When Cardille retired Chiller, and Eddie Murphy became eponymous with SNL, I turned elsewhere.
I caught a few episodes over the years, if the host or musical guest was someone I wanted to see.  David Duchovny was a grand host, as was Alec Baldwin.
I do remember watching quite a bit of SNL when Christine Ebersole and Robert Downey, Jr were part of the cast.  I was also accidentally watching when Barbra Streisand appeared on "Coffee Talk."
I didn't like Chris Farley, Eddie Murphy, Joe Piscopo or Kevin Neally and many others, so I really saw no reason to tune in.
Over the years, I also felt that the sketches went on far too long and often meandered to their close.

The other 50% of aged angst being when the emergency button/remote control is in the significant other's hands.

I wouldn't know.

CAN CAN has some sweet performances and beautiful costumes.  But the dances are lousy....notice I said the DANCES not the DANCING.

Spent most of the day helping Rod from across the street move items from his house to my house. They are moving next weekend and still needed to get rid of a lot of stuff...and wow, some of it was pretty darn nice stuff! They had some furnishings and household items that they thought the new Iraqi family might have some use for, as well as some yard furniture for myself.

I will sure miss that tall, muscular, hunk of a neighbor, and his wife too. Such nice people. Of course Rod works around the corner at the State Mental Hospital (where they filmed ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST," so perhaps he and I can get together for lunch sometime.

We could admit you.

Is there anyone out there old enough to remember Linda Laurie?

Linda wrote "Ruby Red Dress" and "Delta Dawn"

Not really.  I found that she also wrote Stay-At-Home-Sue, so I guess I remember her music.

How could you allow Rod to move away?

I need to get a life part 585.

I'm collecting the versions of Tommy Facenda's "High School USA" (1959). The National version charted here in OZ but there are nealy 30 other versions. (It was first a "Florida" listing of High Schools)

Extending the Telephone songs:
(An extension line even).
Telephone Won't You Ring (Shelley Fabares)
Hello This Is Joannie (Paul Evans)
Telephone Line (ELO)
Don't Hang Up (The Orlons)

And there's the rewrite of BYE BYE BIRDIE's "The Telephone Hour" done at S.T.A.G.E's STROUSE, SCHWARTZ AND SCHWARTZ   :o

I've just one a 700,000 Euro prize. I must write back to Ms Linda Van Der Hoek and give her all my details.

I wonder is she knows Dear Reader Laura and DR JMK.

I took Mae-Ling and Wae-Ling to the butterfly exhibit, and Mae-Ling threw quite a temper tantrum. Very unattractive in a five-year-old.

Did anyone ever try to call a phone # they heard in a movie or tv show?
I remember one of Agnes of God (which took place in Montreal) I saw it before the release. The phone # was not working.

I did try to call when I was younger the # Echo Valley 2-6809.

I just couldn't find where Echo Valley was. I thought it was in Southern Cal somewhere.

Most successful "phone" song - "He'll Have To Go" (Jim Reeves)

Homer & Jethro's version is fun and even Jeanne Black's answer song was successful.

We had a party line when I was a kid. Ours was one long ring. For a few years, someone would call the other party every Sunday night during dinner, and we would listen to the phone ring and ring and ring and ring; the phone was wall-mounted next to the dinner table.
