I don't think of New Yawk City or London as being resorts. They are cities that fascinate, true, but they are not geared specifically for the tourists. They make their monies doing other things.
I, on the other hand, live in a resort community. That's what Rehoboth Beach is, a resort community, dependent upon the annual influx of vacationers for it's income. As a working resident, I look forward to the increase in jobs these vacationers provide...and also look forward to the end of the season, when we don't have to put up with their rudeness, their attitude that they own the world.
I'm just glad I'm on antidepressants. It makes living here so much easier.
