Maybe Charlie and Mel Gibson should do a movie together.

 ::)

Yes, Charlie can write it and Mel can also direct...and it could be called "Dipsomaniaco".

I believe that Gay Abandon was the name of a drag queen from Olympia.

So, this morning I am off to Carroll Studios to hear the Encores! orchestra play through the score of WHERE'S CHARLEY? and that will consume most of my day. There should be a strange conglomerate of folk: friends from the Loesser office, Bruce Pomahac from Rodgers & Hammerstein, Joshie, his brother Jeremy, John Doyle, who's directing the show, the choreographer, Jack Viertel, and God alone knows who else. Oh, yes, the mighty Rob Berman on the podium.

John Doyle?  The John Doyle? The director of COMPANY and SWEENEY TODD?

I hope Elmore told John Doyle to hire an orchestra instead of getting the actors to play the instruments.

TOD: I don't know enough about Jimmy Webb to know which songs are usually his. I forgot "Wichita Lineman" or "MacArthur Park" were his until reading the posts. So, here goes:

"Wichita Lineman," Glen Campbell
"MacArthur Park," Donna Summer (because it is so awful)
"The Moon's a Harsh Mistress," Christine Andreas

Which do you find awful?  The song?  Or Donna Summer?

I think it looks a lot worse then it is but I just want to make sure.  I'm just not sure that if he says I can wear the contracts if I'll go to work tomorrow or not.  I'm not a very vain person (at least I hope I'm not) but I really don't want people at the county center seeing me and thinking I got punched or something.

You would be amazed as to how many people you see that you "know" but don't even know their names if you know what I mean.

Or, you could go to work and when someone looks at your eye in shock, you just walk up to them and say, "The wedding is cancelled.  I don't care how big a mansion he has!"

Is that a current photo of him, George?

I would guess not.  Comcast has a tendency to use the same picture for several years for a person's birthday announcement.

Well, I got a call earlier today from our director...tonight's rehearsal is cancelled.  Big surprise.  It's supposed to get down to 18°F tonight and up to 34°F tomorrow.  At least we're at the very beginning of rehearsals and not during performances!

And on that note (F#), I'm leaving work.  I got all my time in, so I'm leaving.  I'm going to try to get to Costco because I need to get some canned cat food.  I have plenty of dry, but I'm on the last can of Friskies.

Wish me luck!

We had a great book group meeting tonight and thoroughly enjoyed our 45 minute phone conversation with author Arliss Ryan.  She offers on her website to do this for any book group, but we were the first to actually contact her.  And it was the first time my group had done anything like this, so it was new to everyone.  Considering that, it went very well.  Even my cell phone on speaker worked fine; I was worried that we wouldn't be able to hear her or she wouldn't be able to hear us.  In the book, Will and Anne are always treating themselves to "sticky buns" from the baker, so our refreshments tonight were assorted sweet rolls from Central Pastry.

DR Cillaliz - I think DR JRand was referring to my speaker phone call with my book group and the author of tonight's book.
