Surely you meant Snark-O-Gram?   ;)

Well actually, on this board, both are appropriate!  :)

There's a difference between SNARK and SMARMINESS....Snark is what "I" do....   ;D

While at Ocean City with my family, I managed to avoid most of my former favorite treats (Johnsons Popcorn, Curly's Fries, Kohr's Ice Cream, monkey bread) but I did partake of a new one--the Upcakes freshly made at Dixie Picnic, a wonderful breakfast/lunch place I've never been to.  I was thinking of DR Jose when I ate there.

Upcakes:

Hmm... How come when people eat food they think of me?  ;)

In any case...  Those UpCakes look good.  -And I'm wondering if the family that runs that restaurant has any ties in Richmond.  One of my favorite old-fashioned bakeries there features wonderful box lunches - like the ones at the Dixie Picnic - and their cupcakes are iced upside-down too.  -Even their flavor selection is the same.  Hmm...

So which flavor(s) did you try?

DR Ron Pulliam - Thank you for the belated birthday greetings.  Alas, there's no leftover cake to share with you... since I didn't have any cake yesterday.  But that may be remedied today.  :)

Damn you, DR JMK!!!

;D

The hilarious thing is, that's exactly how we sing it, too, with all "da"'s.  It must be part of the collective unconscious.   ;D

I had just four -- Fudge and Blood Orange on Devil's Food, Banana on Yellow Cake and (because they had it that day) Sour Cherry on Red Velvet.  Yummmmmmm...

The only "new show" I watch is HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER; I stumbled on it at the end of its first season, when I was giving 2 lengthy breathing treatments to a patient and ended up seeing almost the entire episode. I especially like the Sexist pig/yuppie played by Neil Patrick Harris, who is an absolute stitch(Is that phrase still used?).... It's late but the worst musical I saw was just this past May, a front row seat for Mamm Mia in Nyc, It replaced CATS, which at least had the song Memory. The Mia finale/cutain calls were so lengthy I began to have nightmares that they wouldnt let us leave the theater. The only good things about it are that it's providing lotsa work for show folk and enjoyment for the people who do enjoy it(one co-worker has seen it 3 times)

Thank you, DR Noel--I think I changed a little here and there, but as DR Elmore will attest, I was listening a lot to Fine and Dandy this year and that tune must have snuck into my brain more than I realized.

Sour Cherry on Red Velvet?!?!?!  Hmm... I guess I could head down to Ocean City for a few days since I'm not working until Friday.

This was the the first time I noticed that the Monkey Cake place was selling it with dollops of some kind of white buttercream icing.  To deter my yearning for it, my one sister said, "Hey, look--now you can get your Monkey Cake with Monkey Pus!"

Ewww!

Although I have to say the second 4 I remember completely differently (just went back and listened to the F&D CD), plus I also remember some cheesy magician or comedian doing it with the "da da DA da" routine, so if it was F&D, it transmogrified somewhere along the line, because the version I remember is pretty much as I notated it.

the Monkey Cake place

Do you mean the bakery that sells Monkey Cake, or is there a whole store devoted just to Monkey Cake?  :P

I would say that it's actually like balls of cinnamon buns (without raisins) that are stuck together in a pyramid like pile.  But now with the buttercream, they are arranged into a sort of a bowl shape with the icing plopped into the center.  I never thought it was the best quality of cake, but still addicting.

Ah, gotcha.  Sounds like "Monkey Bread" to me.  And, yes, I have had the "variation" with icing on top.  Talk about gilding the lily.  Amy's Bread here in NYC started selling something called "Cinnamon Crunchies" which are basically small "loaves" of Monkey Bread baked in muffin tins, a Monkey Bread Cupcake.  I think they would call them Monkey Bread, but I guess they don't want to mix it up with their Monkey Cake.

OK... 'Tis Noon here on the City of New York, and I really should get showered and get ready to head out.  Of course, I'm not working today, so I'm not sure where I'll be heading, but I really don't want to stay cooped up in the apartment today.  -And the weather ain't bad today either.  -Besides, I have a Birthday Cake deficit to make up.  Although, I think I'll be sampling some Italian gelato this afternoon.  :)

There is an actual Monkey Cake (or maybe it's called Monkey Bread) place on the Ocean City boardwalk.  But then, there are stands that sell nothing but carmel coated popcorn, funnel cake and curly fries.  My sister has an idea to open a place that makes fresh cotton candy.  Why not?, I say.

I thought exactly the same thing when I heard the news. But JRand WOULD host a HHW reunion or something, wouldn't he??
