SPELLING OUT OUR NEEDS

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were piquant, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently trying to spell H-O-M-E.

It's like I'm losing my mind department:

Could Elmore, Jose, Noel, BK or some other musically literate person please tell me what this piece is from?  It's driving me crazy:

It is manically fast, I can tell you that, and I know it starts out somewhat reminiscent of "Let's Call the Whole Thing Off," but it isn't that tune.  I started singing it as a joke for the kids on our trip when I wanted them to do stuff.  Did I make it up (unlikely) or is it from something buried deep in my subconscious (highly likely)?

TOD: Cops

I like staying motels because most of them have some kind of cable. Then I watch the home redecorating/fixup shows if they get that channel, which Pomona did not have.

When I got together with TCB, George, Jed and Ann in Tacoma, I used the "bastard person" quote and then was delighted as all four of them simultaneously launched into the rest of that speech from Waiting for Guffman.  It is such high cultural shared references that make this site so exceptional.   ;D

It reminds me of that magician tune.  Don't know what that is either.

Who can turn the world on with his smile?
Who can take a nothing day, and suddenly make it all seem worthwhile?
Well it's you, Jay, and you should know it
With each glance and every little movement you show it

Love is all around, no need to waste it
You can have a town, why don't you take it
You're gonna make it after all
You're gonna make it after all!

Hmm... Well, I don't think it resembles "Ashokan Farewell"... Wrong meter, and wrong tempo... Although maybe that's the "real" Ashokan Farewell, since everyone thought the tune was an existing one, when, in fact, it was written for the series.  Or something like that.  In any case...

It's a cartoon tune.  I just played it, and sang it for my roommies... It's ringing a bell.. We just can't name the bell right now.

Yep, that's what I thought, too.  I thought it was a version of the Bugs Bunny/Daffy Duck "This is it" tune, but it isn't.  But personally I think it's from a cartoon, too.

OH!... Could it be a theme song for a old sitcom?  -If you slowed it down a bit?  For some reason, I'm thinking it could be the theme over the closing credits.  ???

TOD

Since I work at night, I dont get to watch much telly and I dont have cable...

When the occaision does present itself I like to watch

Masterpiece Theatre
History Detectives
Globetrekker
Ugly Betty
CSI
Eastenders
and some of the Britcoms

However, I will watch either the CBS or ABC soaps from time to time. I refuse to watch the craptastic show on NBC called Passions. No longer watching DOOL. Matt walked away from the show and I quit watching.

I will sometimes listen to Rachel Ray or Oprah. It is usually white noise. Kelly Ripa annoys me.

I prefer tapes or dvds of my classic soaps, Doctor who, Torchwood, Boston Pops, various Chieftains appearances, etc...

On the opportunity that i get to watch cable
I like different programs from time to time:
 HGTV (Design on a dime),
Animal Planet (they occaisionally have different documentaries), TVLand -- some of the old comedies and westerns
Nick at NIght - Fresh Prince of BelAir and Cheers
WE --- I love to watch McLeod's Daughters when I get the chance

Also... If I am really, really lucky... I can watch soapnet, BBC America,  and National Geographic channel
