JASON, I just love your photos. They remind me of paper dolls, where you can clip on another costume.

TOMOVOZ,
I, too, loved JEWEL IN THE CROWN. Such fine writing!

TOD:

LOST -- incredibly good writing and acting, but I don't think BK would appreciate the direction.

HEROES -- the best comic book adaptation of a comic that never existed before--a very fun show!

THE AMAZING RACE -- just about the only competitive reality show that never became stocked with actron/model posers that populate other shows of this ilk.  The editing manipulates the hell out of the TV audience, but in a good way.  I'm usually on the edge of my seat with this show.

PROJECT RUNWAY -- bitchy artistic types making dresses--c'mon, what more do you want?

The only new fall show that I am in any way interested in is the Kelsey Grammer/Patricia Horton sitcom.  I might give that Lord of the Flies kid reality show a try also.  I think that all in all, television has given up on delivering much of anything that I want to watch nowadays.

You mean there are no more Cotton Candy places there any longer?

There are places where one can buy factory-made bags of cotton candy, but I haven't seen any place that makes it fresh.  Perhaps because of the salty/sandy air?

Correction, I was wrong. Google update: DR Jason is the love child of Esther Williams and Bing Crosby ... ba-ba-ba-boo...

Here's one of my favorite pictures of mom and dad, just before the divorce. I think I favor mom. You be the judge...

TOD:

MASTERPIECE THEATRE
EASTENDERS

are the only shows I watch regularly these days. I used to be a big fan of MYSTERY! but after all the PBS budget cuts there's not a lot of MYSTERY! left. I also did NOT like the adaptions of Elizabeth George's novels. Too many changes from the original and too many cuts to fit a 90-minute format, IMO.

I was a fan of CSI for many years, but it just got too weird for me.

These days I watch DVDs instead. There are sooo many films I missed over the years--I'm not even close to caught up. And, as most of you know, I'm a huge fan of British television. I don't have BBC America; I rent what I think will appeal. Both cheaper and more convenient.

Good Afternoon!

Well... I'm still here.  Phone calls, mail, stuff in general.  But at least I'm now ready to put my shoes on and head out.

However...

One of those phone calls was to my parents.   Who, as it turns out, were going through airport security right when I called.  They're on their way to Seattle to visit my Auntie Tess, and then they're heading up to Vancouver for the weekend for my Mom's Nursing School's 50th Reunion.  -I think she said 50th.  In any case, they'll be back next Tuesday.

Hmm... So maybe I will head down to Richmond tomorrow for a few days since I'll have the whole house to myself.  ;)

The funny thing is is that I talked to my Dad yesterday morning, and failed to mention that they were leaving today for a trip.  Hmm... And they wonder why I tend be "secretive" at times.  ;)

What was that old line from vaudeville...

My family moved around a lot when I was a kid, but I always managed to find them.

A small community just west of where my parents live was hit by a large tornado last night.

http://www.grandforksherald.com/articles/index.cfm?id=48332&section=homepage.

The town of Northwood is located 25 miles west of Thompson and 32 miles southwest of Grand Forks.

Pictures on the local news show many of the buildings heavily damaged. Odd, I was just there a few weeks ago...

The news certainly woke me up this morning.  -Of course, I just ended up staying in bed for a while listening to the news reports before I eventually got up to see what the TV coverage was like.   -Too bad "The View" is still in re-runs right now.  ;)
