Oh, dear! Big belly laugh on that one, DR ELMORE!

And when I finally meet MBARNUM in person I'll give him a BIG HUG for all the ribbing he takes here--that is, if he wants one.

I love hugs!

My very favorite animal performer was a basset hound named Bernadette.  Bernadette portrayed "Cleo" (short for Cleopatra") on "The People's Choice" with Jackie Cooper.

Cleo was "voiced" by one Miss Mary Jane Croft.

Never was there a more droll animal character on Television.  Not even Mr. Ed or Arnold the Pig!

DR LAURA - I would say either of these outfits would put you in the fashion vanguard in ANY courtroom.  8)

Looks like they've been into the old "Golden Girls" wardrobe.

I also thought Cleo was hysterical.

When they questioned why she was on top of the kitchen stove, Miss Cleo (with the help of Mary Jane Croft) looked into the camera and replied:

"Now and then I get the urge to ride the range."

Thank you, DR Elmore. He still pale as a ghost but is a good deal stronger than when I last saw him. I'm relieved he's getting better albeit very slowly.

I also adored Cleo and THE PEOPLE'S CHOICE. Both of Jackie Cooper's sitcoms have been unfairly forgotten. They were both very entertaining. (HENNESSEY was the other one.)

DR JEanne:  re Desilu

From Wikipedia:

The company was formed in 1951. For the first few years of I Love Lucy, Desilu rented space at General Service Studios (what is now the Hollywood Center Studios), on Santa Monica Boulevard and Las Palmas Avenue in the Hollywood section of the City of Los Angeles. Desilu soon outgrew their first space and in 1953 bought their own studio: the Motion Picture Center on Cahuenga Boulevard in Hollywood, at the site of what is now the Ren-Mar rental studio; most of I Love Lucy was filmed there. In late 1957 (taking possession in 1958), the company also bought the RKO Pictures properties, including its main lot in Culver City, with the backlot known as Forty Acres, and another lot on Gower Street in Hollywood.

I just read that coming on DVD in mid-June is LUCY/MAME! It's part of a Lucille Ball box set which will also include DUBARRY WAS A LADY, THE BIG STREET, CRITICS CHOICE, and DANCE GIRL DANCE.

The movies will also be released separately.

I liked The People's Choice because Jackie's character's name was Socrates Miller and his girlfriend Mandy called him "Sock"

She was played by Patricia Breslin who also starred in the movie MR BK was talking about last week HOMICIDAL!!!

Thank you, DR Ron. It was the main lot in Culver City that I visited many times. But, IIRC, the Danny Thomas show and the Lucy Show were done at Paramount. But, as I said, memories are imperfect. They were indeed in Hollywood.

Well... Time for me to get ready for tonight's 1,500th performance of Avenue Q.  Apparently, a bunch of people have been out sick, so it could be interesting.  However, there have also been sighting of some of the original cast members hanging around the theatre this weekend, so... We shall see...

Good morning, H/Ks! This H/k was visited by some intestional thing yesterday and is madly trying to catch up on all the posts. Not the food posts, though--nooooo! Still very iffy about food.

You, me and Ron Pulliam? Can this be a computer-borne virus?

Back from Chelsea.. Back from the barber... And, I have to say, another great hair cut.  Which is good, since I don't want to come across as unkempt when I meet DR edisaurus in a few days.

Another great haircut? Which one?

You will find the statement you just made quite humorous once you meet Mr. Linton!

Don't get me started on hairdressers!

Not to get you started on hairdressers, but I LOVE mine! I had the same guy for 20 some years, back when I had waist length hair, he was the one who cut it short and I never wanted to change.

He owned a very expensive salon where I would never be able to afford to go had we not been friends. He gave me a "documentary maker" rate. He didn't like working for his rich clients, though, and listening to their political tirades. He said that if Bush was reelected, he was leaving the country.

Now he's retired to Argentina. The guy who bought his shop was a young Romanian guy, but he gives me great haircuts, even better than my friend who left. Last time I went, after the new hairdresser cut it, I thought the bangs were too long. He was very hesitant but went ahead and trimmed them. I was totally wrong and now they are way too short and not worthy of Jose. I hope he won't be ashamed to be seen with me!
