I am beginning to think about today's foodstuffs?  I had a thought to make sauteed chicken, mushrooms, and onions, but I don't really feel like cooking and dicing and slicing.  I'm rather bored of Gelson's, and Von's deli case isn't very good.  I could make ham steak and eggs, but that's cooking, too.  I could go over to the Studio Cafe and have poached eggs and an English muffin and a salad, or a salad and my barbecue chicken sandwich.  I could get takeout from somewhere - so many choices.

Finished writing my thoughts on the Bava book by Tim Lucas for the next issue of Scarlet - IF they use it.

I never got my last issue of Scarlet Street. Wasn't there one a few months ago?

elmore, there is no more Scarlet Street.  There is a new magazine called Scarlet, which is carrying on "in the tradition."

It did turn out to be a beautiful day. We were going to McDonalds for a quick lunch but were stopped at the door by policemen. It had been robbed a few minutes before we arrived!

We went to Wendys which is right next door.

I managed to watch 3 1/4 more episodes of MISSION IMPOSSIBLE. While most of the cases start off interestingly, they kind of drag in the telling. Mark Lenard was the primary guest star in the last full episode I watched.

I'm hoping to get at least three more episodes watched tonight before prime time TV intervenes.

Hmm... With all the cooking that's been going on in this apartment over the past week, I have a feeling the "hint of garlic in the air" could now be considered an amenity.  ;)

Did you at least get a good quote?

Was the policeman handsome?

Would DR MBarnum have liked the policeman?

Watched POLLYANNA last night on TCM.  It's kind of interesting that Walt Disney had confidence in both his film and in the kids of the time period that he let the running time go over 120 minutes.  How many kid movies today barely make it over 90?

Well... Those longer movies are now made by kids.

OK... Since I did not step foot out of the apartment at all yesterday - and I really wasnt' trying to be in "hermit mode", it just happened - I shall now sally forth into the Fall afternoon air momentarily.  I do have to make a Duane Reade stop, so, at least I won't be wandering that aimlessly.

Laters...

I got no quotes. I never thought once of DR MBarnum. The policeman was very handsome (a trifle short), and mine, all mine!!!

Did you at least get a good quote?

I forgot to mention that I did skim through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. Nothing of interest in show or previews.

Alas, no SLEEPING BEAUTY Blu-ray today (unless there is a very late UPS delivery).

I did get season one of NASH BRIDGES and Criterion's release of MISSING which I'm looking forward to seeing again after many decades away. It doesn't come out until the 21st of the month, so I won't get to it for at least a week and maybe longer.

I'm going to write for a bit, then head downstairs to clean the dining room, and then get back to Jim Phelps and his crew.

Horseracing. I would think that if I still had issues on my subscription ro Scarlet Street, it would be completed with the new magazine.

Today's copy of NEW YORKER is unbelievable, cut on the diagonal, all the bottom pages are cut off and illegible, and I cannot believe some oaf in the subscription dept let this magazine go out.

It is so beautiful out. On Saturday night we had a little bit of rain, and now it's like God flipped a switch and turned off the summer. It is currently 86 degrees, and the AC is off for the first time in months.

The preceding message was in no way intended to be a religious post.

One thing I love about the new software on the board is I can see exactly what the GUESTS are looking at.  And it's a real surprise.  Only two of our fifteen GUESTS are looking at this topic.  The others are all over the place in much older topics.  I find that really fascinating.

Elmore, SCARLET is a different magazine with no connection to SCARLET STREET. They have no rights over SCARLET STREET, nor do they have access to SCARLET STREET'S list of subscribers.

Richard Valley, The editor and owner of SCARLET STREET died, and the rights to that magazine, and anything connected to it now belong to his family who are not interested in continuing the magazine.

If you e-mail Kevin Shinnick, who is one of the editors of the new magazine, SCARLET, and let him know you had a subscription to SCARLET STREET he will be happy to do something for you, however.

Now get a grip!

I have to say that Laurette, despite problematic source material, sounds surprisingly clean - and the music really is at times a precursor to To Kill A Mockingbird.
