Had my second virus laden (but destroyed) email this morning. It was Purported to be from a Hainsie with whom I have never communicated by email so my address book is not just being used to select a name at random. DR Jay has had similar problems. Is this happening to anyone else on the board? I don't think my email contact is available through my profile.

I've had a few e-mails with an attachment from another DR, but I've just gone ahead and deleted them since there was no text in the message area - just a vague subject line and an attached file.

I scanned one of the earlier e-mails, and it's a result of an e-mail virus/trojan horse thingy where the virus sends out an e-mail to anyone in the infected person's address book.

Hmm.. Mono... E-mail viruses...

Be careful.

I'd do hope DR Panni's daughter is not replaced with detachable speakers. Is that the punishment for that A- grade?

Backwards is fine Jose but is should be upsidedown for those of us on this side of the world to read.

The Mono research and the Epstein-Barr link made me think of the Joseph Heller/Speed Vogel book NO LAUGHING MATTER in which Heller and his friend describe (in alternating chapters, as i recall - but I may be wrong) Heller's battle with Guillain-Barre Syndrome. The book is quite wonderful and I recommend it.

Panni, I had mono when I was about 20 years old. I had just moved into my first apartment in Salem and purchased a brand new car...thus I had NO money. I was living off of peanut butter and Jelly sandwiches and cigarettes and working very hard at Bi-Mart...got very ill...I got it bad, and that's not good! LOL?!

Anyway, my neck swelled up and my throat felt like it had been slashed with razor blades. Took a long time to feel better and the energy was depleted from my body for quite some time.

Just make sure you daughter gets lots of rest! She'll be fine. When she returns to her own home make sure she gets lots of rest and eats healthy...to avoid a recurrence.

Just finished GODZILLA VS MEGAGUIRUS. Not the best of the new crop of Godzilla movies, but it was entertaining. The new wave of Godzilla movies do a good job with the lead women's roles. They tend to be higher ups in the military or such and they don't make a big deal out of it. Treat it as if it were completely natural and not special or unusual.

And what I really enjoyed is that lovely Yuriko Hoshi from the 1964 GODZILLA VS THE THING has a major role in this film as a top scientist. And she has aged very nicely, too.

Actually a few of the old Godzilla movies had fairly decent female roles too...scientists, lead journalists, etc. Interesting I think.

Robin, I can't recall if you are a Godzilla fan or not. If so have you seen any of the newer Godzilla films (which they have released on DVD in original Japanese language)? I know JRand53 enjoys them a lot. I have been a Godzilla fan since I was a young-un.

Good afternoon all
I'll contribute to the posting effort.  I am currently at a friend's house attending a graduation party for his girlfriend.  But I have snuck inside to escape the steadily-worsening weather and have a minute to myself.  So many social things to do this weekend, and for some reason I'm just not in a social mood.  Does anyone else ever have this happen?  There is a bug flying around my face and it's rather annoying.
Well, that's it for now.  I'll post more later

Good luck DR ann!

DR Panni, my sis also had mono when she was in university.  I know she needed lots of rest!

I'm trying to get thru Harry Potter #2.  But I'm falling asleep.   I think it's too long!

I have rather basic and minimal supplies in my kitchen. So I bought a ton of groceries for my daughter's visit. However, one of the symptoms of Mono is loss of appetite. ...I may have made a mistake.

Just woke from a loverly hour-long nap and then I ran across the street to the local movie rental store. For this evening's movie delectation I rented STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE, MARS ATTACKS! and the first season of STRANGERS WITH CANDY. Pizza's on the way...it should be a fun night.

**MESSAGE FROM OUR FEARLESS LEADER (that would be bk)**

The play reading went very well, but it took longer than expected. He's now heading directly to dinner at the home of his friends -- and he is VERY hungry. As he won't have a chance to get home first, he won't be posting for another few hours. He sends apologies and fervently - I said FERVENTLY, brothers and sisters - hopes that there will be over 135 posts for his mental delectation when he returns to Casa Kimmel.

Der Brucer wants Salisbury steak for dinner tonight.  Great idea, but they really need mashed potatoes, and we don't have the right kind of taters for mashed, and he's busy watching television reruns.  Oh, what to do, what to do!

(No, I do not have Mashed Potato Buds in stock.  Bleh.  Just the thought of them makes me think of potatoes and mayonaise.  Bleh bleh bleh.)

Evening all!

I had a lot to do today and we had a nice storm this afternoon.   I had to wait for it to pass before I felt it was safe to sign on.

I had an e-mail from Elmore who told me to tell you all he said "Hi!" and will post on  the board when he comes back to NYC for a day, ( I believe) before he has to leave again.

I believe it's one of those "combo Nathan's/Pizza Hut/Dunkin'Donuts/Baskin-Robbins/etc... But there is a Nathan's there.

Thank you, Jose, you have made me a very happy man (and with your clothes still on).

And I didn’t make you happy for telling it was there in the first place, TCB?   Well, I feel like chopped liver.   ;)  :'(

Thanks, Bruce.  You already answered most of what I wanted to know.   I was just mainly curious as to when you enter the picture and what exactly you do.   I didn’t know if everything was already done and then you come in and put it together or if you were there first and had a hand in deciding what arrangement, how many instruments, etc.

Sounds like you’re a pretty “hands on” kind of guy.  I’m going to try to find what was already posted and then I may have some other questions for you.

Something I like to cook for myself.  Well, since there are only the two of us, I do cook for my Mom whatever I make  but here is something I really like.

Beef Roast

1 small beef roast (any kind)
1 small can cream of mushroom soup
1 can Coke Cola
1 onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, sliced into slivers
1 can mushrooms (whole or sliced)
Salt & pepper to taste

Cut garlic into slivers and using a knife, put them in different parts of the beef roast.  Salt and pepper the beef roast to your taste.

Put roast into pan or roaster.

Slice onion and put over the roast.

Open the can of mushrooms and pour out the juice.  Put mushrooms over the roast.

In mixing bowl mix the can of mushroom soup and can of coke.  Pour mixture over the beef roast.

Bake/roast  350 degrees until done.

If using a larger roast, you can double everything.  Another trick I use is to peel 2 white potatoes and put them in the side of the roasting pan so they cook in the gravy.

I don’t list a type of beef roast because I’ve used this on all kinds and it always turns out GREAT!  The meat is always tender.

I was going to post the 2nd part of my SLC trip but I think this is enough for one night.  Glad that your enjoying it, Jrand.  I'm also glad you liked the photos.

Real estate prices in Los Angeles have gone insane. While out and about today, I saw an Open House sign at a new condo development in the hood (Studio City). It proclaimed on a handwritten poster that Only Two were left. I went in out of curiosity. The building is on a busy street (Whitsett), with a Garage that specializes in Emission Testing a few doors down. The condo I saw was really quite ugly - narrow, tiny kitchen, nothing elegantly finished. Three stories - small rooms - no outdoor areat at all (unless you count little balconies that face other buildings). Price: $535,000!

I had mono in my senior year of high school.  And it was a very bad case of it too.  At the time I was told I had non-contagious hepatitis as well, no longer called that.  I suggest having Rachel’s blood work re-checked, especially to check how her kidneys are fairing and watch them while she recovers.

Our son’s friend had a similar case of mono and it took him a long time, as for me, to recover.  Keith had mono a year after I did and was barely affected by it.

After the mono I became severely anemic, a common problem with young women.  I suggest having foods high in iron.  As you know Panni, it isn’t always the quantity of food that counts, but the quality.  Fresh fruits and vegetables are good.

But did you mention, Dear Reader Panni, that the median price of a home (that includes condos and fees simple) in Los Angeles County reached $394,000 in May?  For every house sold for less than $394,000, one was sold for more.  It's absurd!

Danise - I've never before heard of using Coke in quite the way you're using it. I bet DR Sandra would use Cherry Coke - giving the beef an interesting flavor to be sure.

Well, I'm getting tired of seeing my face (as I'm sure you are) - so I shall take a dinner and tidy up break. Keep those cards and letters coming, all you wonderful people out there in the dark.

Well I finally bought the new flatscreen monitor, but it turns out it wasn't my monitor at all, but the video card that was shot. Well I have that installed and my new monitor as well. Now I have a week of postings to catch up on.

Pray for me
