We had some costumes at the store last night, Ann Marie from THAT GIRL was there, along with Mother Nature, a Naughty Witch, Hera and a Spartan Gladiator, with a Roman toga under his armor, and a girl from the 70's with nice bell bottom jeans and long long hair.

In fact the Gladiator changed into his costume and left his clothes at the store, I am guessing he will come back today to pick them up.

I'll be working like a demon to finish THE NATIONAL PARKS today. I haven't written one word of the review yet. This is one series I think I need to see all the way through before I start trying to put my thoughts into words with some continuity to them.

Of course, I'll also be picking up MAD MEN and BROTHERS & SISTERS. Hopefully, I will be done with PARKS and can watch DEXTER "live," but if not, I'll have to record it, too.

I'm a much bigger fan of RADIO DAYS than bk. When I first saw the film, I was completely disinterested in the Mia Farrow storyline - seemed so distant from the rest of the film about this lovable Jewish family. Over the years, though, I've become fond of that story. I don't think it's quite clever enough, but it has its moments, especially her encounter with the hitman's mother.

I'm going to head down now and finish episode four of THE NATIONAL PARKS that I didn't quite finish last night, and then I will watch the bonus feature on the disc (outtakes).

If there's time left before I need to start cooking lunch, I'll check out Thursday's THE OFFICE or Friday's UGLY BETTY, depending on how much time I have.

Good morning, all! Thanks for all the late night vibes, everyone! It's a cold, I do believe; if it were the flu, I wouldn't be sitting here and enjoying the end of last night's posts. So, I sent messages to everyone I hoped to see today that I wouldn't be showing up; I'm really bummed to miss David's conducting the show and Terri's commitment ceremony, but the cast, crew and orchestra don't need my cold.

So, I'm staying in isolation today and going nowhere. I have work on Moross' BALLET BALLADS and BABES Vol 2, and the fridge is filled with goodies so I'm okay.

I spend most of the day (after a nice breakfast of scrambled eggs, toast with blackberry preserves, a bosc pear and coffee, same for Anthony except for tea with honey) working. I made the decision to bring home my annual end of cycle project to absolutely ensure that it gets done before I leave for the month of December. For reasons too numerous to mention something always goes either slightly or more wrong and the issues have to be dealt with by someone besides me. It pisses me off. This is the first year it seems (because of various departures) where the chances are this WILL NOT happen. I would like to have it not happen at least once during my employment at the Center, hence my decision to bring the work home. It will free up hours of time in the office for the next three weeks. I didn't finish absolutely everything but I came very close and by going in tomorrow at 6am I will finish absolutely everything (the first pass anyway) and from that point on it should flow smoothly. My eyes are about to fall out of my head as a result of the work but it's worth it!

So was I. The charm, the surprise, and the mystery were all M.I.A. This is mthe kind of episode you'd expect after a show's been running for years, kind of a "walking through it" sort of episode. Hopefully, they'll rebound next week.

I did finish episode four before I started on lunch. Each episode tells sometimes very moving anecdotes about historical personages who had influences of one kind or another on one or more of the parks. Some people's stories traverse several of these chapters.

There is some repetition of themes and historians intoning over and over the seriousness of preserving the parks, what they mean to Americans, etc. All true but a little redundant after you heard it several times in EVERY episode.

This long musical is just one endless long drama and I'm getting really bored of it.  The simplest of things cannot, it seems, go smoothly.  I was intending to do nothing today, and yet I spent close to two hours dealing with this week's rehearsal schedule?  Why?  Because apparently our musical director hasn't been getting any of my or Cason's e-mails for the last week - I'd have to imagine there in some spam folder.  So I spent all that time straightening out the schedule and making sure he had a copy.  Ridiculous.  I finally shut the damn phone off.  And I'm not going to Grant's later, so that got pushed to maybe Wednesday night, the only sort of night off I have this week.

My diet will change drastically from tomorrow through Wednesday (I'm actually starting to eat less today) due to a "medical procedure" which will be performed on Wednesday and involves drinking a nasty liquid the day before. I think you know what I'm talking about without being more specific.

Good luck.   Also a smart idea to get much of your work done before you begin your special diet.  Test vibes and work vibes!!!

I plan to watch WHITE COLLAR while I eat lunch, and I doubt I'll have any other time during the day to watch any of the other shows on the DVR to clear off some space.

Keith really loved this show and is more disappointed than I am, nor holding out much hope for the show.  I'm sure he will be very happy to be proven wrong.

We were very disappointed with the second episode.

So was I. The charm, the surprise, and the mystery were all M.I.A. This is mthe kind of episode you'd expect after a show's been running for years, kind of a "walking through it" sort of episode. Hopefully, they'll rebound next week.

Hmmm... The sun is "scheduled" to set at 4:52pm today.  -Just about two hours and ten minutes from now.  Hmm...

I changed all the clocks today. But dumb me. I left for my bikeride at 3:30pm and by 4:10pm i was wondering why it was getting so dark out. Dumb!

Glad you made it home safely.  Do you have a light on your bike, just in case?

I am going out to dinner with my aunt and uncle. It's sort of unusual for just the 3 of us to go out alone. But my uncle really wanted to go. And we are going somewhere i have not been in years. They make really good ribs which used to be my favorite.  Hopefully they are still good. They are sweet ones (which is not how most places make them here).

Is there where you went for your birthday a few years back?  That is nice you are spending time alone with your aunt & uncle.

"WHITE COLLAR" SPOILER!!

I know one has to suspend disbelief in these kinds of shows (and many others, too), but just the idea of them "throwing a party" and the very person that they're looking for will just show up at their specific party among ALL the parties that are happening during this special week in NYC was just a little too much suspension.

END OF "WHITE COLLAR" SPOILER!!

Thank you to everyone that provide vibes for the healing of Otto's (DD) paw.  It's healing nicely and he's getting around better than ever.  Both dogs came with us to my families last night for our Halloween thing and it was they younger pups first time out around other dogs.   Let's just say, we need to begin the socialization very soon.  I'm not sure he knew what to do.  He chased my cousin's Irish Setter across the yard and then the Irish Setter chased him and somehow I knew the setter didn't really want to play!  Otto kept my grandmother company while Manny and I went trick-or-treating with my niece.  I think they are tired today!

We ran the fog machine but despite the cooler contraption Vixdad made for it and the 7 bagsof ice, the wind keep lifting the the fog and blowing it away -  a few years ago we had a perfect still night and the fog roll slowly over the whole lawn, and flowed creepily around the "tombstones"

Last night for Halloween I watched the 1968 version of NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD...darn, that movie still gives me the creeps. After watching the movie I then watched it again with commentary by several of the cast members. It was fun listening to them reminisce about how the film was made, etc. There is a second commentary with different cast/crew members which I will listen to at some point in the future.

This has been a favorite movie of mine since my friends Dave and Steve and I dared to finally get the courage to watch it on late night tv one weekend when we were in the 7th grade. Scared the wits out of all three of us.

Here is the trailer, which used to run on TV during the day time when the movie was going to air on Creature Features. As a tiny kid, I would run from the TV set when it came on...and no wonder...look how creepy it is:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gUKvmOEGCU (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gUKvmOEGCU)

It amazes me that they would show this ad on daytime tv during the early 70s.

Miss Dixie Bell always has a hard time adjusting to the time change.  She is just so used to a routine time on everything that today, and most likely for the next two weeks, she's been 'asking' for things an hour early. . .her morning walk, her evening play hour, her nightly treat. . .right now, she's fast asleep as if it were bedtime.

After reading BK's notes, I realized that I hadn't seen RADIO DAYS in ages, and it is one of the latter Woody Allen films that I truly enjoy, so I added it to my Netflix queue.  I also added SWEET AND LOWDOWN since I have never seen it.

I missed out on Friday's media check, but, I have been sharing movies with Mum this week, forcing her to watch THE PROPOSAL, which I knew she would like more than me (I had already seen it) and SEX AND THE SINGLE GIRL, which she really, really liked.  I am on a Natalie Wood kick right now, reading two biographies and working through some of the Natalie Wood boxed set.  I'd like to get to THE GREAT RACE, which was very problematic for Natalie Wood (3rd choice as female lead, disagreements with Blake Edwards, suicide attempt following completion) but, it is a rather l-o-n-g film. . .
I picked up THIS PROPERTY IS CONDEMNED from the local library and should get it to tomorrow night.

I've been watching the dvd-rs of this week's FLASHFORWARD and SUPERNATURAL.
I've been reading the novel FLASHFORWARD, which is quite intriguing in its own way.  I've also been reading the Halloween-appropriate THE POE SHADOW, which I like almost as much as Matthew Pearl's next novel, THE LAST DICKENS.

I have been listening to Joe Nichol's new cd, Old Things New all week, with breaks to listen to Liz Callaway's and Kate Baldwin's recent cds.

Then, I started watching shows from this past week still on the DVR. I began with UGLY BETTY.

It was an enjoyable episode, but once again, the show keeps falling back on old Betty rivalries: in this case, with Marc. She has seen him through so many troubling times in his life, and yet NOW he realizes she's a good person and a real friend. How many more times does she have to prove herself to him? The show's in its fourth year; it's time he got a clue.

No, I don't drive at night. i have reflectors but no light (since i never drive at night).

No, i have not been to this restaurant in at least 5 years.  It was good but i like the ribs at the other place better. These ones are very very sweet. I do like them. But i guess i have gotten very used to the other ones.

And the prices have gotten ridiculously high. They were charging $17 for 6 ribs. They are huge. And they give you one extra. But i found that to be a lot.

Anyhow i only had 6 ribs. But i got at least 9 to take home.  My uncle is very generous. They don't have any kids so they treat us like their kids.

Hmmmm... Apparently the revival of Bye, Bye Birdie had a 16% increase in ticket sales last week. -One of only three shows that had a "bump" last week. Hmmm....

The AMC hi-def broadcast (which is what I've been watching) is on now (possible east coast time)...7:00 pm PST.  The regular broadcast of AMC is on at 10:00 pm PST.

I figured the Kennedy assassination would serve in some way as the season finale. Interesting to see what the remaining episodes of the season will do with that in the background.

Now I must head downstairs and go to bed. It's much later than I was expecting.

Good night!

It looks like there is only one more episode after this.

The dog above me is barking today. I don't know which is worse: the damned dog or the damned squeaky bed when he's having sex.

How often is this dog having sex?

ROTFLMAO!

Pardon my ignorance (I know you're all in that habit, anyway), are the poker players on TAR a couple?

I watched APOCALYPTO today, which I picked up on BD in a Milwaukee Barnes and Noble for about $7 (!).  Fascinating story, but kind of graphically violent at times.

bk, hope your schedule allows you some rest at some point.

And I know you won't do it, but some of us have been saying for a long time, "Bag the long musical."   The drama with the creative staff just doesn't seem to be worth it.

bk - I forget - Are you already lined to be the director of the musical should it receive a "first class" production?  Or is that a detail you can't discuss at this point?

The answer is yes - unless whoever puts up 14 million bucks wants someone else - I'll get paid off if that happens, but for now, it's me.

Mad Men was excellent this evening - top-notch in every department.  I think everyone knew since the show was heading towards the end of 1963 that the assassination would be part of at least one of the episodes.  The way in which it was introduced was very clever.  The director of this episode was film director Barbet Schroeder.  We were finally back at Sterling Cooper for a good portion of the show, which was nice, and Peggy had a little more to do, and Pete was back, too.  Last show of the season next week - it will be very interesting to see where they leave Don and Betty, and how they leave several other plot strands.

Too pooped to try to post something interesting.

Taking all of November to relax (except for the party tomorrow night that is) , to stay home after work and not constantly be doing things.   I'm too old to be running around like I'm still 20 or even 40.

Get back into watching movies, listening to music, listening to the wonderful programs on the radio, and reading, and I guess some exercise.

Happy November everybody. ;)

I've been listening to CDs and trying to get a couple of hours of relaxation.  I already sent the packaging of the Holy Grail to the studio via e-mail, so they'll have it in the morning.  And I'm waiting on the packaging for this week's release, which I won't announce here until tomorrow night at midnight.

I will also say that MAD MEN had an excellent episode this evening, and I do wonder what will happen on the finale.

Yes, DR JOSE, yesterday I did post a clip of Ms Florence Henderson mangling "That Old Black Magic" on the Mr Lynde's special.
As for the bump for BBB - was it attendance or regular vs. preview ticket prices that caused it?

My Ayn Rand biography has shipped.  I think I will watch a DeeVeeDee and feel sorry for meseff since I don't have TCM HD.

DR MATTH - I watched some of SHADOW OF A DOUBT again tonight as well.  Teresa Wright's performance just gets better and better for me.....and Hume Cronyn is sort of a precursor of the tics of Norman Bates in a social setting.
