Thank you Singdaw & Jose.

The "weather alert" says a cold front is coming & we could get 4" of snow.  We don't have any travel plans to California which is good.  Not good is that we didn't buy any milk today, or stock up on basics and there is a chance we will be snowed in.  I know it doesn't seem like much snow, if you live on flat roads.  We don't, we have a semi steep drive half way up a hill, all of which can get very icy.

I suppose one of us could rush to the store now & stock up but we are both to lazy to do so-LOL.

I went supermarket shopping today and had the rudest teenage boy as a cashier...

I carefully check all teh cans before I biuy them to be sure they are free of dents and dings. he was throwing them down the belt so they wer smashing into one another  despite the fact that I was bagging as quickly as I could .  Finally I said, "Please, could you be more gentle? You are going to dent the cans"

He replied by picking up a can of corn and hurling it down the belt so hard that it dented a can of potatoes (I was purchasing  about 40 different cans of veggies, soup, potatoes etc as our church food pantry is running very low on those items)

At that point I said." OK. Stop. Look waht you just did to this can"

his answer?  " I can't help it if they bump up against each other, it's not my fault"

The he picked up a bag of apples held them a foot above the plastic bag and let it drop so it smashed against the metal counter and with the  other hand grabbed  a  loaf of bread in the middle giving in a nice hourglass shape before hurling it at the cans.

I did something I never did before, I said  "That's it, I'm done here"  and walked away from 30 minutes of shopping

I went to the manager and reported this 15 year old punk kid who was going to teach me that I had no business criticizing his work performance

I had that job intehat very store for two years, many years ago, back in those prehistoric days when we needed to ring up each item by pressing little buttons and count and figure the change, and pack those brown paper bags so they  were "squared" and not likely to burst.

I have also been shopping in that store several times a week for the past 30 years and have been known over the years to stop at the managers office to praise particularly helpful employees so the manager knew me and knew I had never complained about an employee before.

I hope they made him put every item back on the shelves himself.

I just feel badly for the customers behind me whom I inconvienced by walking away.

We also went to Walmart's eyecare  location and bought the Vixter a new pair of trendy eyeglasses.  When she gets them next week I will post a picture of her with her new look

I seem to recall seeing the Vixter with lavender frames - and when I suggested she should get matching lavender streaks in her hair you both laughed!

Vixmom, how frustrating.  Good for you walking away.  I'm rather surprised the management didn't offer to assist you & get things straightened out.  Were they at least nice?

Yes, she is wearing the  lavender frames now, and the streaks do match and look very nice, so thank you for the fashion advice!

The manager was very apologetic.  I left as he went to speak to the cashier, I had no interest in redoing my shopping at that moment as I was too angry (and the Vixter had elected to remain behind in the car and read her book and I didn't want her to have to wait another 1/2 hour for me to refill my cart

Mr. Handy Man was here, but the job is not finished - he didn't like one of the copper connectors, which somehow got bent, so he's gone to a hardware store to get a replacement.  He should hopefully be back by five, at which point I can leave, and he'll leave via the back door and lock up.

I've written seven pages and am ready to start a new chapter tomorrow, although I may write a line or two of this evening.  I also know there will be some stuff to clean up from today's pages.

Well off to cook dinner. Vixdad is suffering from a horrible cold and sore throat so I am sure it will include some soup
