Labor Day greetings!  After being wide awake for a couple of hours in the middle of the night, I slept 'til 10:30 this morning and woke with a caffeine-deprivation headache.

How did you do that?  I couldn't get the site to take any of my pictures.

Back from a seeing and hearing and experiencing Eldar down at The Blue Note.  All I can really think of to say right now, "The kid can play!".

-And, man, is that understatement of the century.

Did you get a chance to meet him, Jose?

Can anyone tell me how to save my Great Grandpa Simpson as a jpg?  When I right click on it, it and try to save it, it comes up as a pnp or bitmap.

DR Jane - Toast half of the almonds you're using.  Yes, toasting helps bring out the almond essence, but I feel that it affects the final product too since the toasting also ends up affecting the natural oil in the almonds.  -At least when it comes to making macaroons.

I was thinking about that.  Have you made almond macaroons & done the half & half?  I might test half a recipe with untoasted & then compare it to half toasted.  Some recipes call for vanilla & some with vanilla & almond flavoring.  I found this wonderful almond flavoring so I think I will use both.

The signed Playbills sounds like a very thought out & special gift for your friend.

I have always liked Ann Curry on the NBC morning news. She has a pleasant voice and speaks slowly.

She is from Ashland.  Keith was delighted one year to see her in our 4th of July parade.

And speaking of Ashland.... It turns out the Brain's own BJ is from Ashland, OR!  And he mentioned last night he had some friends who had converted an old church(?) into a cool performing arts space downtown.

Does that ring a bell, DR Jane?

Sorta of.  What is the name of the place.  I would ask which church it was but doubt that would mean anything to me.  ;D

DR Elmore - I hope the Gilfrey move goes as smoothly as ours did over the weekend for DS Rob.

DR Cillaliz - Well... Serendipity 3 was just a block away.  A loooooong block away.  ;)

A very, very, very long block!  But the frozen hot chocolate was well worth the walk - can we go there again, DR Jose, huh, please?  Oh, don't we owe DR Vixmom a trip there?  Maybe that could be our treat with her and The Vixter after they see Starfighter on the 29th!

You can't scare us---that's already happened!

Precisely why we bought a house surrounded by a flood plain!

The two vacant lots next to us are on a flood plain - and they have permits to build on stilts!

Everyone in the house is currently napping.  Spent a fun afternoon at Playland, the local amusement park.  I finally got my roller coast ride, DR Edisaurus!  A modern metal thing where you ride lying down in a cage, in a "superman" stance.  It was a blast!

Last night, while I walked the dog, the three keyboardists attempted some pieces for six hands [at one keyboard] in the living room.  Hilarity ensued.  :)  Not quite Eldar, but entertaining, nonetheless.

DR TCB - I hope by the time you're reading this that you have awoken with and in less pain.  Get better, my friend.

Thanks, Jose, I appreciate it.  Not feeling much better, which tends to make me grumpy - a bad combination.

Lovely photographs once again, DR DearReaderLaura!

I heard the most distressing thing today.  Is it true that the typical lifespan of a butterfly is only a few days?  It doesn't jibe with what I've heard about the migratory patterns of butterflies...
