My ISP provider has told me that, based on my present broadband usage, I am a "relatively heavy user" and that I'm likely to go over my 2GB monthly allowance which is intended for light users and that if I go over 2GB I will automatically be upgraded to an unlimted allowance and charged accordingly. I don't know what that's all about. I've been with the same ISP provider for many years, and have been consistent in my usage but all of a sudden I'm exceeding my allowance? Maybe I've just been getting away with it for years.I think that's when my doctor told me to lose weight or else. Or was that beltwidth? It's too early.
Vibes for Vixmom's dad.

DR Doug R, do you have a wireless router that's unprotected? Maybe someone living near by has been leaching onto your wi-fi and downloading/uploading mass amounts of data.
Doug R - Will they provide you with a count of your usage if you ask them?

Ooh! Ooh! Memory flasback: I recall cleaning my first apartment -- a two-bedroom in Vicenza, Italy (small kitchen, wonderful layout of rooms, nice balconies) -- and listening to Streisand sing "I Never Has Seen Snow." It was on "Barbra Streisand...and other Musical Instruments" which was a newish LP recording in my collection at that time (1973).Music and cleaning certainly do go together. Too bad I've given up the cleaning thing entirely.
It reminds me that I don't play music while I clean any more. What's up with that? It was always a huge help!
I think we had some good auditions today. It was great to see our DR jose.
I would like a nap, but I think I will run to the corner bodega and then do the laundry. My chores for the Encores! Gala may change today, depending on what Kate Baldwin ends up singing, so I think the laundry while I'm free is a good idea.
I watched THE BLACK SHIELD OF FALWORTH last night...mainly because Dan O'Herlihy was in it.
Watching this rather boring film, I kept thinking, where was Michael Curtiz when you needed him?
He really know how to make a swashbuckler.
I have been thoroughly mesmerized by THE NIGHT CIRCUS; it's full of magic, wonder, mystery and true characters.
THE DOVEKEEPERS is Alice Hoffman's new novel, which I just downloaded today for my e-reader, and is about four women during the Roman siege of Masada. It looks quite promising.
several of our foodies and Jane have plotzed at the thought of taco bell
Or Gregory Harrison's personal assistant.Perhaps you have your answer there, sir.
My favorite piece of orchestration at the mo' is Jonathan Tunick's ascending chords (on harp or miramba, depending on the recording) in Losing My Mind. So 50's in style, guilessly stepping their way up the scale until that final delayed and faultering note--so perfectly fitting for that song! I never really paid attention to what it was doing before but now it gives me chills.That man's work is super.
From DR Vixmom:Quoteseveral of our foodies and Jane have plotzed at the thought of taco bell

We worked on the drip irrigation system at the church and got part of it working. So I planted some of the plants I have been holding. When they fix the part off the patio, I will put those things out there.
Oy and vey, Zach and I have survived a visit to Office Max. Physicists should study this firm for actual proof that time slows down.

I am neither Jane nor a foodie, and I plotzed.

YUCK! YUCK! YUCK!
I thought I picked up a cracker crumb & began eating. When it had a strange crunch to it I spit it out & discovered it was a bug.

Aren't you glad I shared?
I yelled at Keith to open a Pepsi for me to fizz out my mouth.
Now to check out of the motel and make my way to Glendale for lunch with my friend Jerry Lee. Then, on to the airport.

This morning I have more auditions. Jarrod Emick has taken another job and left the Appalachian piece. So, we're still looking for two men to replace him and Ben Hope and a young lady to play the young wife. Our DR Jose is playing the auditions, which suddenly appeared yesterday. Following that, I ned to stop by the Encores! office before heading back uptown. Then, it's either laundry or writing a harp part.
TOD:
DVD: Oh, lordy! those three Netflix items are still sitting here
CD: Appalachian/folk/country/bluegrass, Gi;bert & Sullivan, Offenbach, Guy Haines, Jacques Brel
VCR: Light entertainment shorts
And the word of the day is: HENDIADYS!
I know a dark secluded place.
A place where no one knows your face.
A glass of wine, a fast embrace.
It's called--
Hendiadys Hideaway!
Ole!

DR elmore - Do you happen to know if Patti LuPone is singing? Or is she just speaking/presenting? -If you're at liberty to share such details.
TOD:
I have a number of Blu discs awaiting my perusal, including "Tree of Life", "First Nudie Musical", and "Lost in Space" (it was cheap, and it has one of the finest scores ever written for a genre film).
Now to check out of the motel and make my way to Glendale for lunch with my friend Jerry Lee. Then, on to the airport.
DR MBarnum - It really does sound like you had quite a wonderful time in L.A.
*You may want to head back to L.A. in a few weeks to catch THIS SHOW (http://www.eclecticcompanytheatre.org/Pirates.html). ::)
I meant to mention that I went to Big Lots when I was in Buffalo. I remember one of the HHWers mentioning the DVD bargains that can be found there. Sure enough, I picked up "Sunset Boulevard" for only $3!

Darn BK, had I thought about it I would have invited myself over to watch the shooting. That would have been so much fun, for me anyhow. I could have even been the gopher!

I was eating a cookie a few months ago when much the same thing happened, except I discovered the cookie was literally teeming with ants. Not one to waste a perfectly good cookie, I brushed the little critters off and finished my snack. ;)

I use onion soup mix plus a can of diced tomatoes with the juice to make a tasty soup broth. Then add veggies and meat (unless I'm making it for DR Sandra).
Yesterday (I believe), DR JMK posted this:
"JR, someone with almost your initials is playing Indy with Beaverton's (NOT Tumwater's ) Shoshana Bean."
And said person with "almost your initials" just posted this on Twitter:
Just had terrifying realization that people paid money for their tickets tonight.
;D
My library has THE NIGHT CIRCUS on ebooks & I'm 12th on the waiting list. While there I checked and, to my relief, have two days left to finish my book. I can now relax while I read though I still plan on finishing it today.

Do you eat it straight out of the packet?
~~~~~NON-HACKING AND NON-DRIPPING VIBES FOR DR JMK~~~~~
Oy! The Guthrie Theatre PINAFORE looks really awful. It has none of the wonderful "play with the original" of the Joseph Papp PIRATES OF PENZANCE. This is more "Anything Pins Adore" with lots of "new" rhumba and Latin arrangements. I think I'll turn it off.
Oh, Joseph Papp's PIRATES OF PENZANCE was wonderful. That was when I first fell in love with Kevin Kline............... and vice versa! ;)
I've seen the Kurt Weill Newsletter edit of my KNICKERBOCKER HOLIDAY review, and I am quite happy with it. Now I'm waiting on word on what numbers Kate Baldwin will sing in the Encores! Gala. I've got the first half of the Finale so I can begin that, and I've got other work sitting here as well.
Anyone watching the Guthrie Theatre HMS PINAFORE on PBS tonight?
Dang, TCB. Now you have me wanting some Lipton Onion Soup Dip.
BLUE by Lou Aronica is today's free Nook. Also offered is UNTIL AGAIN the prequel to BLUE.
I switched over to Dateline. I like Gilbert and Sullivan, but this is a production for folk who either don't know them or think they're fools. I find no affection in any of this travesty. The Guthrie should be ashamed.
Hope Sherlock is feeling better.
I'm wondering if this broadcast will actually help The Guthrie in the long run in terms of national recognition and stature?
And I swear that's Tony Walton's set for the touring version of the Lincoln Center Anything Goes.
I don't have that one but I do have Jim Nabors and Marilyn Horne with Madeleine Kahn doing "Man of la Mancha."In honor of our discussions about LOST HORIZON, part two: Am I the only DR who has this:
I don't think we have any of those here .... but if it's good healthy well made mexican food I probably won't like it --- give me that processed junk food
I turned back on to PINAFORE at 11 to see Barbara Bryne, of SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE, dressed as Queen Victoria serenaded by the "March of Peers" from IOLANTHE with new lyrics and a synthesized arrangement that sounded like a skating rink. The musical director, who wrote these awful charts should stay in the dinner theatre world.Hey, I've seen some very good dinner theater.
LOL. I don't think I ever have.Dang, TCB. Now you have me wanting some Lipton Onion Soup Dip.
