So tonight, I was meeting some people for a drink, and the place we went to wasn't working out because they didn't have a full bar and couldn't really accomodate the drink orders that people wanted.  We didn't want to travel far because it's so cold out, so we decided to head over to the Gramercy Park Hotel, only a couple of blocks away, which has a newly renovated bar area that we heard was nice.  And it is nice.  But all of their drinks, from standard martinis to a glass of house wines, to gin and tonics, are all priced at $19 each.  Have I just been really out of the loop on this, or is that pretty pricey?

$19 for a martini?  Only if it is served by a handsome waiter undressed and pliable.

DR LAURA that may look like a Cooper's Sparrow to you, to me it looks like a cigarette lighter.

Ladies and gentlemen:

Ms Suzanne Pleshette and Mr Ty Hardin from that classic Warner Bros. film:  Wall of Noise.

Actually a choker or clavicle necklace should be worn with a strapless gown, but I guess Suzanne can do whatever she wants to do - jewelry wise.

OY!  Some of the foodie blogs have brought up the $19 drinks at Gramercy Park Hotel.  Apparently, they're priced that high in order to encourage their customers to try their more adventurous offerings.  -Some of which are more than $19.

Alas, pricey drinks seem to the semi-new thing.  If I'm in the mood for a "nice" drink - and if I'm properly attired - I like heading to the Campbell Apartment in Grand Central Station.  But even some places in the Theatre District have a standard price of $15 for cocktails.  :-\

*However, the Bread Bar at Tabla off of Madison Square Park has decently priced drinks - and the Indian appetizers are some of the best in the city.

Very true, however, it appears the necklace may actually be a strap to hold the dress up. ;D

Ah you could be right, DR JANE.  My guess is that even Ty Hardin doesn't know what's going on down beneath all that fur.  :o

Yes, now if I could just figure out how to change the Quote in Jane's post.

Actually, I have been doing very well today; and I think, now that football is over, I will go to bed.

You're welcome DR Julie.  *Just remember to eat in the Bread Bar, otherwise, be prepared for the sticker shock of the main dining room - even though it does have a nicer view of Gramercy Park and the Flatiron Building.
