Cilla, you mentioned, a week or so ago, that you had been giving your cats (or maybe just one) tuna packed in oil.  Do you still drain all the oil off so it only the oil tht is actually left on the fish?

Yes. I don't squeeze out all the oil. but I do drain most of it.   My vet has convinced me to give them cat food most of the time and tuna part of the time. So I'm going to use it more as a treat.

GOOD EVENING DRs!

Long working day at Borders today, but, not a lot of selling. . .however, we were told at this morning's meaning that since we need the sales (and points) and we were in the midst of Educators' Appreciation Week, that we should push the 25% educators' discount to everyone - i.e., if one had eve walked past a school, consider them an educator - which did indeed make for a lot of discounting going on.
I would merely nod my head while asking, "You ARE and educator, aren't you?" to get the message accross, but, subtlety doesn't always play in The Pittsburgh Mills. . .

TOD:
This week's DVDs have been an eclectic bunch, but with a couple of obscure connections:
TAMMY AND THE BACHELOR
TAMMY TELL ME TRUE
TAMMY AND THE DOCTOR
KISSIN' COUSINS
*THE MYSTERY OF THE WAX MUSEUM*
DOSTI (FOREVER FRIENDS) - indeed, MBarnum, it is a great flick.
SWEENEY TODD THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET - Bonus Features
Up for tonight:
MADAME X
PORTRAIT IN BLACK

CDs:
XANADU - OBC & OFS
CAPTAIN FANTASTIC AND THE BROWN DIRT COWBOY - Elton John
TURNSTILES - Billy Joel
SOUTH OF THE BORDER
THE LONELY BULL - Herb Alpert and the Tijuiana Brass
IPod Playlists of Brent Barrett, Jason Graae, Guy Haines, Liz Callaway, Sally Mayes
JUNO - Victoria Clark et al
Alison Moyet's RAINDANCING

BOOKS:
Julie Andrews' HOME
Eckhart Tolle's  A NEW EARTH
Charlaine Harris' ALL TOGETHER DEAD

*who knows the connection(s)?

After severe wind storms here, we have been without power for a while.
Had I been listening and watching:

DVDs. Steel Magnolias II - The Men of the Family.
Beaches II - The Tide goes out.

CDs"  "Blood Brothers" - The All Star "hasbeens" International Cast
Patti Lupone "Soft and Low - Romantic songs of the 1890s"
Rosemary Clooney sings the Bette Midler songbook.

I love you, DR tomovoz.       ;D

Truth be told, we had already decided we wouild keep him ourselves if his home situation did not work out.

I'm not surprised, you seemed to be enjoying him too much :)  Did you tell her that, just in case?

I'm glad things worked out for his mother & that she will be in touch.

Next I finished KINGDOM OF HEAVEN. Long, heavy, sad. Not the feel-good movie of its year, for sure. I didn't much care for Orlando Bloom in the leading role either. He didn't quite have the presence here that he needed to carry such a mammoth epic film about the Crusades.

DR Matt - Did I miss which version you were watching?  Was it the extended cut or the theatrical release?  I'm not high on Orlando Bloom in either version, but, I think the longer cut is a much more coherent, dramatic and enjoyable film.  It's one of those epics which I do revisit when the mood strikes me for something heavy.

I'm back - for a moment.  Does anyone knowhow to get hold of vixmom?  her PM mailbox here is full and I don't have her regular e-mail.  I am sitting here with this check for $14.00 for Girl Scout cookies that I thought she was sending me.

If they got lost in the mail, or if someone snatched them from my front door, that's okay; I will still mail her the check so it doesn't hurt the vixter.  But if she just forgot me, then I will tear up the check and try again next year.

The photo shoot was a bit impromptu.  I would have combed my hair if I'd known it was such a mess.

I'll catch up tomorrow.  I've been feeling bummed with depression, not a good time to hang around, and since I've a late shift tomorrow I should have time to hang in earlier.

TOD:  DVD:  Almost finished with Season One of Stargate SG1.

I’m receiving multiple emails from Best Friends and The Humane Society on Oprah’s show today about puppy mills.

Why she did the show is interesting.   Main Line Animal Rescue put up a big billboard near her Harpo studios in Chicago:

“OPRAH, please do a show on puppy mills. The dogs need you.  www.mlar.com

Have had an interesting day listening to speeches given in ND by Obama and Clinton....

Love Clinton's remark about FEMA. She alluded to the fact that Bill Clinton was involved in the flood recovery in Grand Forks, etc. She alluded to the fact that James Lee Witt know something about natural disasters... Unlike the person in power in FEMA during Katrina.

It has been interesting and both candidates make some good points...

There are some  interesting snarky remarks made about Bush...

$120 top ticket?  Do they just raise these prices higher every time there's a new hit?  It's really ridiculous.

Well, the top ticket price for some shows is actually $125.00 - or $126.50 with the Theatre Restoration Fund added in.  However, Broadway tickets prices are actually lower than some of the larger touring houses.  I believe the standard top ticket price at the Kennedy Center is now $145, and there is similar pricing out in L.A. at The Pantages.  *When I saw Hairspray at The Pantages four years ago, the top ticket price was already $150.
