Well, you've read the notes, the notes were agitated as am I, and now it is time for you to post until the agitated cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: EDACIOUS!
-
Just wanted to let you all know that I am home from the ER.
I'm very tired and just want to crawl into bed.
I just did something very dumb. I needed to use the bathroom, got up and (here's the fuzzy part) found my self on the floor with a lot of blood on the left side of my face. When I got to a mirror I could see a fairly bad cut over my left eye that looked like it needed stitches.
It needed 3 to be exact. I don't know how I managed to drive myself because I couldn't see out of my left eye at all. I must have lost the contact lens.
Anyway, I don't think I'll be going to work for the rest of the week. I have to make an appointment with my eye doctor to make sure my eye isn't scratched and I don't think I'm going to be able to drive at all tomorrow. My eye now swollen shut and turning all sorts of interesting colors.
Funny thing is that they had to ask me all kinds of questions like, was I alone in the house, was I covering for someone. Would I be safe when i went home.. I told the doctor not to worry about someone else beating me up when I can do such a good job of it myself.
I'm tired and sore. Talk with you all tomorrow.

~~~Continued Eye Recovery Vibes for DR Danise!!~~~
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Good wishes to you Danise.
-
Happy Birthday to Druxy!
-
Day 1 at the office went well.
I assume the same will happen with Day 2.
-
Oatmeal, dried cherries, dried banana slices, walnuts, cinnamon and coffee.
VIBES for dear Danise
-
just signed on to chcek on Danise -- I have to driove the Vixter to school
-
Good morning, all! In last night's dream I was doing guerilla street theatre, and then my neighbor came in around 5 am and I woke up.
I spoke to Joshie last night and all thefixes are in for tomorrow's reading, so I will so over to City Center and help him get the books together. I think we will then make a trip to Music Theatre International for two reasons: to look at their files on WHERE'S CHARLEY? and to turn in FOLLIES. Joshie's done all the final editing and copying of thenew edition, which will premiere at the Kennedy Center in this upcoming production.
DR Danisr, I hope you're not going through a period of blackouts or anything horrible with your health. Please see your doctor about last night's events, for your own security and ours.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hapy Birthday to DR Druxy! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OMG, DR Danise--that's scarey! Like DR Elmore said, get yourself checked out!
! ! ! ! ! ! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO DR DRUXY ! ! ! ! !
Why does my printer keep shutting itself off?
-
I'm up and ready to announce.
-
To announce I'm ready. And sure could use what I asked for in the notes.
-
This morning on the train I finally finished MY LIFE IN FRANCE by Julia Child and her nephew Alex Prud'Homme. It's a book I'm very sad about finishing. I loved reading about her travels in France, her relationships with her husband and family and friends and her blossoming and growth as The French Chef. And while I'm not really that much of a foodie, Child's descriptions of the ingredients and preparation of her dishes had my stomach growling.
What was also surprising was learning how many liberties the JULIE AND JULIA movie took with the timeline of events in her life. But that's the movies for you...
I very much recommend this book!
-
Shhh! Don't let DR Jane hear that.
-
I'm trying to decide what to read next. I want to read THE PARIS WIFE, a fictional account of Ernest Hemingway's first marriage, but I should really go back to my pile un unread books in my library. Maybe I'll go with the Kander and Ebb book...
-
Happy Birthday to the Dearest DR Druxy!
-
Wednesday morning greetings! I slept well and for a long time last night. Today: puttering around the house until early afternoon when I'll leave to do a couple of errands on the way to the cardiologist's for my check-up.
-
Happiest of birthdays to DR Druxy!
-
Eye-recovery vibes to DR Danise!
-
Morning all. Forgive any typeos as I can hardly see. My left eye is completely swelled closed. I look like I've been in a boxing ring and got the worst of it. My eye itself doesn't hurt any more--last night it was all scratchy and felt like the contact was in it but it feels fine right now.
I bought an ice pack when I stopped off at CVS to get the perscriptions they wanted me to get.I hope it takes the swelling down a bit. Good thing I bought those glasses
Thank you all for your concern. It was just a very stupid mistake on my part. I'm still not 100% sure as to the chain of events--I know I got up and I either triped on the chair or Toby. I know I fell on him and he screamed. I think he way have kicked out with his foot ahd that's what caught my eye making the cut. I'm saying that because that's the only logical thing I can come up with. It all happened in a flash.
Well that's the thing of living by yourself. Anything can happen in a moments notice. I was more scared than anything. Seeing all that blood I didn't have anyone to tell me how bad it was but I was sure it was a deep cut. Deep enough for stitches and I didn't think I could take care of it by myself.
I just didn't know if I could drive myself but I made it to the walk in cliinic first. They were closed so I had to take a deep breath and go to the ER. I really didn't want to go there but I didn't know where else to go.
-
It was funny that a friend of mine was there with her son. He got hit by a base ball at his game. He had to have 17 stitches. I guess it was the night for them.
-
I've just read my instructions. It said that I was given a sedative medication and not to drive or operate dangerous macinery. Well, I sure drove to the CVS and then home last night.
-
Guess no one read the notes. Brilliant.
-
I've announced.
Good morning, all.
-
Happy, happy, DR Druxy!
-
Glad to hear your first day back at work went OK, Ben.
-
Scary story, Danise. Hope you heal quickly.
-
Just got off the phone with my doctor's office. They don't need to see me unless things get worse and I went ahead and made the appointment for Monday to have the stitches taken out.
Well, I'm going to put the ice pack on this eye and go lay down. Thanks again for all of the good wishes.
-
Proper shipping vibes for BK.
Isn't wonderful how much a book can engross you and become a part of your life for a short while? I hate finishing books I really love, too.
Today, however, I will rejoice when I finish "The Schools We Need." I agree with the message, but, boy, would I love to shoot this messenger.
Whatever is causing it, I hope it passes for all of us.
By the way, Dan (tM), I don't recall the reason you picked up Julia Child's book, but her one-time cohort, Jacques Pepin, also wrote a fascinating memoir, "The Apprentice: My Life in the Kitchen." Warm, funny and in many ways remarkable.
How awful about the shipping problems. If I lived in LA I'd help you out with all that.
I was wondering if someone who uses twitter could help me.
If you enter a contest and they ask you to tweet something they often ask for the link. I cannot figure out how to give the exact link. I can go into my profile and give a link to my account. But I can't figure out how to link to a specific twee.
Thanks if anyone knows.
Perhaps my copy of GWTW will arrive today, also.
-
I don't think there will be any problem with orders that got both CDs - the only problem will be with single orders, at least that's what I'd imagine. I'm still hoping it was just pilot error on a couple of orders and I'll know more about that in a couple of hours, just by knowing how many Fear Strikes Out CDs he has left out of the three boxes he took home with him.
-
Deduction just like Dr Watson.
-
This will be a nice birthday present:
Aside from publishing my forthcoming book of short (and not so short) stories, it looks like BearManor Media is going to re-publish my long OOP book on Basil Rathbone.
Contracts have not yet been signed, but all terms have been agreed upon.
:)
Indeed! I've sent them an e-mail reminding them that the list price when new was $19.99. What, I wondered, had transpired to send the list price to $53.99. Will share any reply I receive!
Yes, that is very exciting about the BR book.
It's been OOP for over 35 years, and not a month or two goes by that somebody doesn't ask me how they can get a copy.
Hey, Bruce! Have you tried, or are you going to try, this "umami burger"? (http://shine.yahoo.com/channel/food/is-this-the-best-burger-in-america-2452461/)
-
Thanks DR RLP - it is a puzzlement.
-
BK, I hope that the shipping errors were few. I can certainly understand your worry over this. Yikes! Vibes that is is only a minor error.
-
Thanks DR RLP - it is a puzzlement.
Amazon was quick to reply: As it turns out, Amazon.com is "not" stocking the Blu-ray at this time. The listing is by an outside vendor -- Serenity Now -- that has contracted with Amazon. for "Amazon Prime fulfillment".
At the price Serenity Now is asking, it doesn't suprise me at all that this outfit would absorb the cost of shipping the BD.
Anyone who now regrets not buying it can relax: The Warner Brothers site is selling the BD right now for $17.15 (before shipping costs/taxes are added).
-
Great news on the Basil Rathbone book, Druxy.
Well... I think I know a thing or two about Twitter... ;)
Usually, you just need to ReTweet (RT) the link that has the link in it. You can do the old-fashioned RT where you cut and paste the tweet, and then add "RT" in front of it. Or you just click on the RT button.
If this an ongoing contest, there might be a link to the contest in a past tweet, so just bring up the Profile and scroll back until you find the tweet/link in question.
Now we have a new wrinkle - someone got a Gone With The Wind CD today - he didn't order it. But he also didn't order Fear Strikes Out - so now we have a guy who was shipped an order he never made - which means someone who DID make an order isn't going to be getting their CD - and who knows WHAT CD they would have gotten. I have no idea how deep this problem is really going to be and right now I have to say that we have had not one sighting of a Fear Strikes Out single order having actually arrived anywhere.
-
I ordered both. To date, they have not arrived.
-
As I said, both will not be a problem. These were shipped on Saturday so they actually would not have gone out of the post office till yesterday, thanks to the holiday on Monday. The single orders went out on Friday and were done by the new helper - her I don't worry about at all.
i was going to post earlier that i didnt order either cd and didnt receive either one so that part of the process was working but it looks like i would have wrong about that.
-
posting via my kindle on the train to philly--tres clunky!
-
I posted a few weeks ago via my Sony E-Reader and I find it klunky as well.
You have a slight advantage in that you have a keyboard (I assume you have a Kindle w/a keyboard). The Sony has an on-screen keyboard operated either by fingers or by the stylus. Browsing the Web on the Sony is generally not fun (too much work) and posting to any site is just not worth the time. If I'm using the e-reader I think I'll just stay off the Web (besides, when I go on-line with the device, battery use is much diminished).
-
Now we have a new wrinkle - someone got a Gone With The Wind CD today - he didn't order it. But he also didn't order Fear Strikes Out - so now we have a guy who was shipped an order he never made - which means someone who DID make an order isn't going to be getting their CD - and who knows WHAT CD they would have gotten. I have no idea how deep this problem is really going to be and right now I have to say that we have had not one sighting of a Fear Strikes Out single order having actually arrived anywhere.
Yikes!! :o
-
I am back from my 6-month check-up with the cardiologist. He reduced the dosage of a couple of my meds and scheduled me for a couple of follow-up tests.
On the way home, I stopped at the library and picked up a copy of AND MISS REARDON DRINKS A LITTLE.
-
I am back from my 6-month check-up with the cardiologist. He reduced the dosage of a couple of my meds....
Good news, Ginny!
-
Good luck, Edisaurus.
And congrats, Ginny, on the dosage reduction.
-
A Very Happy Birthday to DR Druxy!! ;D
Thank you, George.
-
DRUXY
HAP HAP SLAP-HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU
Thank you, Arnold.
Another birthday cheer for Druxy!!
Thank you, Edisaurus
I am definitely not pushing or prodding, but just so that you are aware:
As of today, I have not received my GWTW (combo) either.
But, I'm sure it will show up in the next couple of days. Austin's mail service is not the best.
-
I saw THE KING'S SPEECH today, and it's the best movie I've seen this year.
(I still haven't seen TRUE GRIT, BLACK SWAN or THE FIGHTER.)
Great script, performances, direction.
And, when I told the guy at the box-office that this was my 70th birthday, he let me in free.
:)
-
The doubles and multiples orders weren't shipped until Saturday, which means they didn't even begin their journey until yesterday.
-
From Cilla:
I haven't had a margarita since last summer.....that sounds really good
;D It does sound good.
The doubles and multiples orders weren't shipped until Saturday, which means they didn't even begin their journey until yesterday.
Not a problem.
This morning on the train I finally finished MY LIFE IN FRANCE by Julia Child and her nephew Alex Prud'Homme. It's a book I'm very sad about finishing. I loved reading about her travels in France, her relationships with her husband and family and friends and her blossoming and growth as The French Chef. And while I'm not really that much of a foodie, Child's descriptions of the ingredients and preparation of her dishes had my stomach growling.
What was also surprising was learning how many liberties the JULIE AND JULIA movie took with the timeline of events in her life. But that's the movies for you...
I very much recommend this book!
Thank you for the book report. I will be putting it on my list.
-
DR Druxy,
Shhh! Don't let DR Jane hear that.
;D
At least the liberties were only with the time line, plus ignorance was bliss.
I've just read my instructions. It said that I was given a sedative medication and not to drive or operate dangerous macinery. Well, I sure drove to the CVS and then home last night.
Are you saying you took the medication at the ER?
-
How awful about the shipping problems. If I lived in LA I'd help you out with all that.
I was thinking the same thing, especially since I'm out of work again!
I'm sorry to hear you are out of work.
VIBES YOU FIND ENJOYABLE WORK IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE!!!
-
We are cautiously optimistic about my father today....we shall see what transpires.
HEALTH VIBES FOR YOUR DF!!!
-
DR Edi, how is your father doing?
DR Druxy,
Thank you, Jane.
-
I'm afraid to get out of my chair today. Two of our women got injured. Which one of us is next?
Well..... All I did was reach my hand to my face this morning when I felt a sharp shooting pain in my shoulder. I haven't had this kind of disabling pain in a long time. Since last Thursday every day has been better than the previous and I was moving & using my shoulder far better & with far less pain since my accident. I had to ask Craig to wash the dishes. I took Sherlock for a hike today but basically did everything with my left arm or used to to help move my right one.
-
I'm taking the day off.
My wife and I are going to see THE KING'S SPEECH, then go out to dinner.
:D
-
Ask BK:
Hey, Bruce! Have you tried, or are you going to try, this "umami burger"? (http://shine.yahoo.com/channel/food/is-this-the-best-burger-in-america-2452461/)
I just read about it, except the article didn't tell me what I was most interested in. Why is the bun so special? It even looked good in the photo.
CONTRACT SIGNING VIBES FOR THE BIRTHDAY BOY!!!
-
For those who have an interest in classic horror/science fiction (or even current horror and science fiction) films/tv/magazines/ect, the 9th Annual Rondo Awards voting has now begun.
In fact, you will see that KRITZERLAND's release of EARTH VS THE SPIDER soundtrack has been nominated in the Soundtrack section! Congratulations BK!
CONGRATULATIONS BRUCE!
I was wondering if someone who uses twitter could help me.
If you enter a contest and they ask you to tweet something they often ask for the link. I cannot figure out how to give the exact link. I can go into my profile and give a link to my account. But I can't figure out how to link to a specific twee.
Thanks if anyone knows.
Well... I think I know a thing or two about Twitter... ;)
;D
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DR DRUXY!!!!
I live in a one story house.
TOD:
How many floors does your house have?
Basement, main floor and upstairs. It's considered a story and a half, but I call it two stories
-
I live in a one story house.
My house has many many stories to tell ;)
-
I have had "He gave River City the library building, but he gave all the books to her" running over and over and over through my head. I think it's because the city is closing one of the library branches, but I don't know
-
All alone? Sheesh~
-
Had a great day today. Very busy. My shoulder is getting better, but I was careful not to raise my right arm over my shoulder much. It's helping. Edith and I were totally in tune working on some projects today. I think all the confusion has worked out. And a number of clients decided to pay me today. I still haven't heard a word from the feds, so who knows when that money will come, but at least my private clients are coming through
-
Cilla I'm glad you also had a good day.
-
Houses in order:
1. one story
2. two story plus a basement I called the dungeon. The garage was on the same level.
3. two story cape cod with a small carpeted basement.
4. two story & unfinished basement
5. two story, no basement
6. two story, no basement
7. one story, full finished basement (arcade games, tv, work out equipment, pool table)
8. two story, no basement
9. one story, no basement
Basically we began & ended with one story homes with two story ones in-between.
-
Matt H says hi to everyone. He is fine and remains frightfully busy with all his reviewing.
-
Hi all. I just wanted to thank you all for the vibes. i can't type everyones name because it's hard for me to see the screen. I made the appointment for the eye doctor tomorrow and to have the stitches removed on Monday.
The swelling is starting to go down but but I'm getting a headache because of my right eye trying to pick up all the slack. The glasses don't help any. I hate them. Always have.
DR Ginny, I was so very glad to read that you did so good at your check up. Health vibes!
-
I've just read my instructions. It said that I was given a sedative medication and not to drive or operate dangerous macinery. Well, I sure drove to the CVS and then home last night.
Are you saying you took the medication at the ER?
I'm guessing it was the stuff they used to numb my eyelid to put the stitches in. I didn't take anything until I got home and that was just over the counter stuff. I didn't fill the pain meds that was written for me.
-
Thanks for all the positive comments about today's medical report. I am especially pleased that my aspirin dosage has been reduced from 325 to 81mg and that should alleviate some of the bruising.
-
Happy Birthday, DR Druxy!
-
One thing I didn't tell you was that they wanted me to take a vision test but when I told the doctor I was -8 both eyes he said I was "Crazy blind" and without the contact in my eye there wasn't any point in testing me. I thought that was an odd choice of words.
-
Happy Birthday, DR Druxy!
A very happy day to you!
-
I'm sorry about all the shipping problems, BK. I hope everything works out.
-
'Night all!
I had lunch at Hugo's - Pasta Mama for a change, which was very good and no meatstuffs at all today. I had a little buttermilk bar that I'd bought yesterday but ate today - that was good, too. No more drama at this point, and I can only hope that continues to be the case. I'll rest a lot easier when some Fear Strikes Out CDs start showing up. Meanwhile, Audrey Rose is doing very well - only about 200 left.
-
Happy Birthday to DR Druxy!
-
So...has everyone seen this article? Government drops defense of anti-gay-marriage law (http://www.comcast.net/articles/news-general/20110223/US.Gay.Marriage/). It sounds like it's the beginning of the end of DOMA!
First word of the change came not from the White House but from the Justice Department. Attorney General Eric Holder announced that Obama had concluded the 15-year-old Defense of Marriage Act, or DOMA, was legally indefensible.
And then there's this article: Hawaii's governor signs civil unions into law (http://www.comcast.net/articles/news-national/20110224/US.Hawaii.Civil.Unions/)!
-
Congratulations on yiour new plateau to DR Druxy!
-
Congtratulations on your free movie viewing to DR Druxy!! Did you enjoy the film?
So far, BLIZZARD 2011 is about as exciting as Al Capone's vault.
What is a buttermilk bar?
I'm pleased the drama has died down. VIBES IT STAYS THAT WAY!!!!
Congrats on Audrey Rose.
Danise - I understand what you mean about the "fuzzy" part -- last year I was walking throughthe office parking lot at night -it was after 10 and the parking lights had gone out - I stepped into a pothole and suddenly was lying on the ground - it was a severe shock mentally as well as physically - walking one second, lying bruised and pained on the ground the next with no clear idea of how it had happened
I was luckier than you in that I only sustained a few scratches and some severe bruising
-
We also live in a Cape Cod style home 1 1/2 stories witha full unfinished basement
-
So far, BLIZZARD 2011 is about as exciting as Al Capone's vault.
They cancelled rehearsal for tonight. I didn't need to be there, so that didn't affect me, but they changed the schedule, so now I have to be there tomorrow night. But, that's not a problem.
-
And now...to home. Have a good rest of the evening, all. :)
I have always longed for a great big Victorian
back in my real estate salesperson days I had a home listed that I desperately wanted to own - it was huge - three full stories - the third story had obviously once been the sevants quarters and had many small rooms the second floor had 5 large bedrooms each with a walk in closet and tile fireplace- there was a beautiful impsoing staircase with a huge stainglass window in the entry corrider which had a huge fireplace - large enough to walk into - then there was the formal dining room the front parlor, the rear parlor the library , the kitchen and the pantry - all the rooms had tiled fireplaces as well
There was second staircase from the kitchen to the upstairs ... and rhen there was as full unfinished basement
then there was the large wrap around porch - and there was as rear porch as well ---
I still dream about that house......
-
Thanks Jane.
Jane - thanks for the MattH update - I was just thinking of him earlier today
-
Yes, stay warm everyone. We've had lovely weather, but the cold and snow are scheduled to return
I was thinking that he gave River City the library building but he gave all the books to her. Imagine that. Wouldn't that be fun estate planning....
It's been an absolutely bizarre week. A disagreement with a fine singer and (I'd thought not that long ago fine fellow) named Jonathan Frank (on the aptly-named STALKIN' BROADWAY anti-ATC chat board) led to his friends on that board starting to IMHO cyber-stalk me on DataLounge, on YouTube, and today they started doing it just hanging out for hours on my own blog.
The cyber-stalkers are anonymous, and Jonathan is not one of them - but he does know who they are. If any of you know Jonathan Frank. please talk to him and ask what the frell is going on.
A very late happy birthday to dear DR Druxy!!!
DR Matthew - Hope your day was a good one the other day as well.
Vixmom, I was there at night. I found this in the owner's facebook photos. We went up to the windows in the very top of the turret. I don't think this is the best photo of it
Actually I think that's a tower and not a turret
The inside is incredible. They've been restoring for 15 years
I have found out this about cyber jerks - ignore them, as hard as it is, and they go away. They live to upset, they live for the response - without that they wither and die very quickly.
We have, at long last, had a single order Fear Strikes Out sighting! That's good news.
Anti Cyber Stalker Vibes for FJL
On the aunt front, I had a call today from the retirement community about signing some admission form. I told them I'm not signing anything until they talk to my cousin who's her power of attorney and that Friday is the soonest I can get over there. I am trying my hardest to keep this from becoming MY problem.
'night!
From the post: a Stink Burger incorporating anchovies, onions marinated in fish sauce, and ripe Taleggio cheese.
Ah! A loose meat sandwich seems to be what we call a Sloppy Joe
Believe it or not, they actually moved this house across town. It was cut in three pieces and took 2-3 days. They had to hire people to camp out in parts of the house overnight during the move. I didn't live here then, but it was quite an event
