DR edisaurus - Shall I alert Richard Blais via Twitter that you will be supping at Flip tonight? ;)

I think I did see his co-owner of Flip, Barry Mills. He's REALLY CUTE!

DR DerBrucer have you seen an updated list since you posted the 31 page pdf?

Yes. It grows by the day.

HERE IS THE FDA'S SEARCHABALE LIST (Links listed by product category)

At the bottom of the page there is a link to the latest .pdf file. if you want it.

Thank you.  I don't know why I couldn't find it.   Keith purchased something with peanuts today & I wanted to make sure it wasn't on the list.  For now it isn't.  To be safe I won't be eating it.

Good Morning!  Good Afternoon!

I'm up, I'm up.. And I guess my tea should be ready.  It's been steeping for almost an hour.  ::)

Don't steep in the subway, darling!

I did not end up "steeping" in the subway, but I did have to step very carefully during my trip downtown earlier tonight...

During the long stretch from 125th to 59th, I noticed one of the little boys sitting next to me suddenly bend over and started "coughing".  Well... He was doing more than coughing, if you get my drift.  He sat back up, his father looked down at the floor, saw the mess, asked his son if he was all right... And that's when the kid bent over over again, and... His father made sure to aim his son's head between his shoes...  Well, the kid sat back up... And then proceeded to bend over again... People started giving the father spare napkins and Kleenex to wipe everything up... I finally spoke up...

"Don't make your son puke on the floor.  Give him the McDonald's bag!"

Oh, yeah, that sounds like a good idea.

The father then proceeded to take out the half-eaten cheeseburger from the bag and the Happy Meal toy... His sisters helped to clean up their brother's face with the napkins that had been offered to them, and then proceeded to throw them on the floor complete with the "No one saw that look".  Then after his son "refused" to hold the bag, the father placed it on top of the mess on the floor of the train...

Thankfully, by that time, the train had pulled into the 59th Street Station, and I got off the train... ::)  :-\

Thanks for the recommendation. I told everyone that we rely on a friend in NY to find the best restaurants in the ATL!

You're very welcome, DR edisaurus!  ;)

Did you get one of the made-to-order-with-liquid-nitrogen milkshakes?

Homemade Suet Cakes

Melt 2 cups lard
Add 2 cups chunky peanut butter and melt together

In very large bowl, mix:
4 cups oatmeal
4 cups corn meal
2 cups flour
.5 cup sugar

Line a 9x13 pan with plastic wrap or wax paper. Mix all that stuff together and pat it into the lined pan. Refrigerate. Cut it into cakes that fit your suet feeder.

The ingredients would coat more than the commercial cakes!

The local market doesn't sell lard.

der Brucer

That recipe seems pretty economical to me.  Where are you shopping?  Giant?  ;)

Are you sure there's no lard near the tubs of Crisco?

Of course, you could always buy some fatback and render your own.  Or just stop by a bodega for a container of manteca.

Is "coughing" the new euphemism for vomiting on the ground? :)

It makes a lot of cakes.

I would like a cake right about now.  Not a slice, a whole damn cake.

Ooohhh... I had a slice of cake earlier.  :)

*Yes, pictures to follow. Soon. :)

So that's what we have to look forward to with our new 20-mile long $1.4 billion light rail.

I fell asleep twice during my Bollywood movie, despite the disco numbers. It turns out that RUSTOM (1985) is an Hindi remake of THE CHAMP,  a movie I never cared for. I am watching this one ONLY because it stars, is written by, and prod/directed by 1960s action here/wrestler Dara Singh.

Oh that looks delicious.

The doughnut or the cake? Or both?

*The doughnut was actually less decadent than it looks.  Oh, it was still decadent, but the picture I posted is actually a little larger than "real life".  Alas, they were out of the other Featured Flavors: Gingerbread, Crystallized Ginger (their Chinese New Year Doughnut) and the Pistachio Cake.  Ah, well.  ;)  But they still had the Vanilla-Glazed Blackberry Jelly-Filled, and the Peanut Butter Glazed Blackberry Jelly-Filled ones. -Which I bought and dropped off for some friends at their respective stage doors. :)

The book signing went very well.

Sorry, no pictures.

Met some very interesting people, including a lady who was in vaudeville in London during WW2.

I was talking to a friend this afternoon and the subject of sweets came up. I remembered that I haven't had anything chocolate for over two months. Oh, how I long for something chocolate. Brenda Leigh Johnson has nothing on me!
