DR singdaw - I know the trumpet player you speak of.  Well, at least I've looked at him a few times.  ;)

...And that book sold at the mini-chain of Joe coffee shops in NYC.  -Which happens to be one of the favorite haunts of DR Dan (The Man)'s future "wife", Amy Sedaris.  ;D

...When I first looked at the title of Today's Notes, I first thought of Sunday in the Park with George, but then realized that:

A puddle of sweat
Right under the tit

Just didn't sound right.  ;)

bk - From the Too Little, Too Late department...

I would have dropped of my laptop at the Apple Store before the Street Fair, and then picked it up afterwards.  -And by then, even some of the upgrades might have been downloaded and installed.  In any case...

Glad to know The Brain performance went well.

DR Dan (The Man)'s future "wife", Amy Sedaris.

Not sure what that means, but Amy's book:
is very amusing.  As are all the books by her brother David, of course!

Nope, none at all.  Charlotte is far enough inland that there's been no affect from the sub-tropical storm - isn't that what they're calling it?  In fact, it's been an almost cloudless sky all day, and the warmer temps even felt good.

*Of course, since it was 60 degrees in the theatre, it felt good to get outside to defrost.  The theatre staff said they had upped the thermostat to 70, but, I guess since there weren't that many people filling the seats, and the people that were in the theatre weren't moving around, even "70" ended up chilling the room.

And, in fact, Ms. Sedaris sometimes drops off her baked goods at Joe in the West Village to be sold and consumed.

Oh, that's right, Amy was/is DR Dan (the Man)'s girlfriend, not his wife.  ;)

They're showing Radio Days on TCM - Woody's "homage" to yet another Fellini film - this one Amarcord.

I might have to go watch SOUTH PACIFIC, but I don't think I have a first trumpet player to watch it with; nor are Reba or Brian in my house. . .

Well, I am glad to know that you are just married, and not dead.

Funny that you should mention that, DR TCB - today marks the 17th anniversary of DH's and my union ceremony.  And 2007 marks 20 years of cohabitation.

We are celebrating by having him play church this morning, a recording session in NYC this afternoon, and a Rosh Hashana rehearsal this evening.  :)

I have NOT been errant or truant today.
I've popped in because I had a very trying day at work.
Last night's closer was lazy, lazy, LAZY - didn't do three-fourths of the closing sidework, nor do she do anything which would help a morning opener.
She used all of the sliced lemons and didn't bother to slice another bowl full.
She left the 1000 Island dressing container one quarter of the way full, with a note on the gallon of 1000 Island saying NOT to fill the dressing until the bottle was empty and washed; rather than emptying the 1/4, washing the dispenser and then re-filling it which would have taken about the same amount of time it took to write the note. . .
Being the manager on duty as well as the server, I did the double work, doubled thanks to that server.
By 11:30, the bartender on duty still hadn't shown up.  Not a soul could reach her, including her mentor - our owner. So, I then had a bar to set up - a half and hour AFTER opening, and I'm not a mixologist and barely know where most of the liquors are kept behind the bar, nor could I readily mix up a cocktail unless it was definitely two parts mixer to one part alcohol.
Phone tag was played with the owner, calling to see if the bartender had arrived or called, but to no avail.  I had got a call through to the second shift server, and she agreed to come in two hours early and bartend for three hours, even though she had never bartended before (but it was part of the owner's plan to get her into bartending).
So, then, I was a little stressed; the owner was a lot stressed, since the no-call/no-show bartender was his protegee, the chef was stewing about the lack of employee commitment, other than one or two of us.
All of this on a Steeler Game Sunday!

Yes, it's true I was not at the Street Fair. I slept through it. Since I'm working overtime I come home from Saturday exhausted and it takes a while to catch up. I laid down for a nap and didn't wake up until 2:30. Since I'm on W. 16th Street and the Street Fair was on 3rd Avenue on the Upper East Side there was no way I would get anywhere near the place in time.

Oh, well. I did, at least, get fully tickted for 3 shows playing at a Theatre Festival here in town. Some of you may have heard of it. It's often referred to as NYMF  ;)

The Brain from Planet X - Sunday, September 30 at 8pm (along with half the living Hainsies and Kimmlets)

Such Good Friends - Wednesday, October 3 at 8pm

The Last Starfighter- Saturday, October 6 at 9pm

and now it's time to go to bed. 5:30am comes awfully early, even when you've had an unexpected afternoon nap.
