You can't roller skate in a buffalo herd, but that fact was NOT reported on 60 MINUTES.

DR LAURA, thanks for sharing the story about the found canine.  Perhaps your business card should read Laura of Assissi.

I have been watching BRIDEZILLA - and appreciating my sisters and nieces even more than I ever did...and that's a lot.

How many brothers and sisters does everyone have?

I have four brothers and three sisters!

Michael, [Jack], Paula, Myrna, Dane, Kent, David, and Molly

And now I have finished the book, too.  Really enjoyed it...great fun.

And I didn't see the outcome until it was revealed!   :D

bk, doesn't it drive you crazy to work on a book for the better part of a year and to then see it devoured in a few hours?  Sort of like Thanksgiving dinner, but on a grander scale...

It is sort of sad to think a great romance has been immortalized on salt and pepper shakers that people get out for a month or so every year.
That's because the Pilgrims had that great romance, and the Shakers didn't.

(The Shakers believed in celibacy, of course.)

One older sister, and we get along well. We don't see each other often, so maybe that's part of it.

There was always someone to do things with when I was growing up, and we put on some good plays and musicals in the neighborhood, too, as you may imagine.  :D

My brother is 6 years older than I am and my sister was 4 ˝ years older.  After my sister was born my mother was told not to have more children.  Without informing my father she decided to have me. :)

I have just one sister.  She's a nasty, conniving bitch.  We don't get along.

We were friendly with her when she was filming Goodbye People. She had done some film and television and lots of theatre in New York but I think this was one of her first big film roles and she was treated well, although she had a hectic schedule and would talk about having the car arrive to take her to the set at something like 4:00am.

We were also with her one night when she got the news that she had a role in one of her first big made-for-telvision movies. If I recall correctly, it was the one where she was a reporter who really needed a job and ended up working for an Enquirer-type rag. It was called Scandal Sheet. She was so excited that she wanted to celebrate so we all went to the Oak Room at the Algonquin. What a wonderful evening that was.

Herb Gardner was in my Freshman Class at Carnegie(Tech) Mellon in the Drama Department. He dropped out of College after that year.
He was a very talented man. He created The Nebbishes and wrote many wonderful plays including THIEVES and I'M NOT RAPPAPORT and CONVERSATIONS WITH MY FATHER and A THOUSAND CLOWNS

Last night, at the par-tay that der Brucer and I attended, a number of the guests kept looking at me and asking "Where do I know you from?"  I told them that I work at the supermarket, same as Joe (one of the hosts), at which they would say "Oh, YES!" and then would tell der B about how nice I am.  Der B just rolled his eyes and nodded politely.

DR ARNOLD BROCKMAN - nearly a decade ago, we I was in a production of CONVERSATIONS WITH MY FATHER (I played the old drunk, of course), I wrote Mr. Gardner a note and he sent a nice autograph and asked for some photos of our show, which we sent.

And he wrote one of the funniest lines I ever heard onstage in THIEVES... (I think) -

"Come on over and have a drink.  I'm up to my ass in French Provincial."

Well, I do have a set of pilgrim salt & pepper shakers - I guess they're now named  :D  They're standing in the shadow box above the piano, along with some turkey figures, etc.

I am glad you didn't say Tom turkey figures!
