So, a complete waste of money and food.  I'm making tuna sandwiches now.

Make sure your mayo is still good ;)

What a coinkydink...speaking of mayo.  I actually accidentally left out a bottle of mayo last night on my counter all night.  Dopey me.  I made myself a sandwich and remembered to put away other things, but not the mayo.  I did not smell it to see if it would still be good.  I just chucked it in the trash. :P

George & Tom have you heard of the Old Apple Tree in Vancouver?

I haven't.

Vancouver's Old Apple Tree was planted in 1826 on Fort Vancouver land and is thought to be the oldest apple tree in the Northwest. It is also considered the matriarch of Washington State's apple industry.

That's pretty cool.

Sadly, after 194 years the Old Apple Tree has died :(

Oh, no!  How long ago did it die?

Sorry to hear about Janis the human.  He was married or is still married to Gary Cooper's daughter, Maria.  I was on his site and there are horrid lyrics for Hunchback posted - Hal Hackady, who I normally like.

Chopin sonata 2 third movement.  Who knew?  "Pray for dead and the dead will pray for you."  That tune.

I didn’t know any of this about Janis either. And so freakin’ brilliant. That’s sad.

I, too, had a horrible day stemming from a problem going on in my stereo system. I’ve been troubleshooting it every way I can think of, and every time I was convinced I’d narrowed it down to one thing, I’d do the next logical thing and the problem shifted. At one point I was screaming at the universe. Not sure it heard me.

Lord, every time a new solo piano piece starts, I'm hearing an instantly recognizable tune - guess I need to bone up on my solo piano learning.  Brahms' Waltz in Ab Major - who knew?

Now we have Liszt.  I think I should watch Song Without End starring Dirk Bogarde as Liszt.  I saw it when it came out at the Stanley Warner Beverly Hills - I think it was even reserved seats maybe.  Don't remember a thing about it.  Is it on home video???

I had a stupid day too. I had a conversation with the neighbor that started out about the birds that come to our birdbaths and ended with him shouting "I thought you were a Christian!"

Smart move after leaving it out all night.

I need more mayo but all I can find are the very large jars.  Keith uses light so I only need the smaller size.  I hate those squeeze bottles.

If I don't find more mayo before I run out, which will be fairly soon, I will have to buy a huge jar and trash most of it.

It was reported two days ago.  I think they have been trying to save it for a good while now.

Chopin is good.

Started reading Liszt's biography of Chopin last night. He was a better composer than writer, but the sentiments are good and occasionally well phrased.

How about Ken Russell's biopic of Liszt?

Back to The White Tower. Lloyd Bridges is a pain (in a good way, his character is sort of a Nazi), and Valli smolders. I think I will hit the fast forward button. The reviews I read said that only the last 15 minutes were worth anything.

Bought paint rollers and new knobs for the dresser I plan to repaint tomorrow. I'm going to use some more of the samples that I got for the house.

I had planned to paint the dresser red, but I couldn't find a red I liked. Last night, I dreamed someone was giving me the red paint. I think I will use the ripe olive instead for the the main color.
