I'm listening to a really great album called Up, Up, And Away: The Hits Of Jimmy Webb - made in 1970 and played by some German big band - great charts.

I did have to have sweets tonight - I went to Gelson's and got a little triple moose thing - white chocolate, chocolate and dark chocolate - yummilicious, and pretty small.  Also, they have these little bite-sized versions of Parisian cake - excellent.

I've been up watching CNN. It's so sad. They interviewed the brother of one of the passengers who said he feared the worst, and he didn't know what to tell his children about their aunt. God bless them all.

I switched to MSNBC. They are reporting all 48 people killed from the plane and one on the ground.  They had an eye witness whe said there is a crater and nothing there.  I saw the same interview, how sad.   My heart goes out to all those impacted by this horrible crash

Terrible tragedy, as are all these types of plane crashes, which happen a little too regularly.

Well, I must now leave and go downtown to usher for a new play, Israel Horovitz's "Sins of the Mother," put on by Harlequin Productions.  Here's what it says on Harlequin's website:

Quote
We're thrilled to be working with world-renowned playwright Israel Horovitz on his new play before it opens in New York. When a young man returns to the small fishing town he grew up in, he is drawn into a mystery that threatens to reveal his own past. A powerful and compelling drama about revenge, forgiveness, and the comically human struggle to decipher which is which.

This sounds very good!

I'm back from seeing the play and it was very good!  There are only four actors in the show (all men) and one of them plays twins...one twin in the first act and the other twin in the second act.  I can't even describe what it's all about (and I forgot to take a program with me), but everyone in the audience seemed to love it. :)

I do believe I'm going to go watch RENT: FILMED LIVE ON BROADWAY.

(I do know two people in that final cast from their days at CMU).

Anyone have any opinions on this particular film version?

I thought that it was very well done except that there too many close-ups...not enough shots of the whole stage (or just a little further away) so that you get more of a sense of what's going on on the whole stage.  I think some moments were lost because of this, but not so many that the show was ruined.

Mr. Rothman has a very strange way of trying to get converts to his new blog.  He apparently believes that we will go running from this site to his, if he insults us by referring to us as groupies.

What Mr. Rothman doesn't grasp is that we do not gather here, day in and day out, hour after hour; because we are groupies, crazed fans, or fanatics of any kind.  We gather here at HHW because we are friends.  We are friends with BK and we are friends with each other.  And even when we squabble with each other, we never attempt to tear down or destroy each other.

I guess some lessons just can't be learned.

Nicely put. :)

However, I do have a soft spot for the term "acolyte." ;)

Any relation to an Elliot Garfield Grant??  [a "Goodbye Girl" (the musical) reference]
