I think one of my favorite Christmas songs is "Oh Holy Night" by Michael Crawford.  I find it hard to believe that even the local rock station, Q105, plays his version.

Thanks for reminding me, DR Danise, how much I like Michael Crawford's Christmas CD.

I have to dance away as well.  If the cable will let me, I will try to be here later on.

If not, have a a wonderful evening all!

Looking forward to the cast recording of the Brain!

DR SWW - we play Carols at Ye Olde World of Wisdom, but I know what you mean.

I just don't think "My Favorite Things" is a Christmas song....

And on her second Christmas album, Barbra Streisand recorded "I Remember" with a new intro written by Sondheim to make it a Christmas song...it totally doesn't work. :P

I used to think the luckiest person in showbiz was Sir Andrew; now that I hear APOCALYPTO has been nominated for a Golden globe and that it's doing well at the box office, I think that drunken anti-semite is the luckiest asshole in show biz.

BK, I am SO very happy to know that cast album of the Brain will be available! (and I would pay almost any amount of monies for a DVD also!)

I would too (almost ;))!!

I agree; they're both incredibly lucky. Amazingly so.

My two most favorite Christmas albums are both of The Manhattan Transfer's Christmas albums (CDs).  Their first was called The Christmas Album and their second, which was only released in the US back in October is called (appropriately) An Acapella Christmas.  It's all a cappella and I think one of their best albums, overall...in my humble opinion. :)

And I also really like Jim Nabors' Christmas Album.  My parents had the vinyl album for years (I think I actually have it now).  A lot of songs and arrangements on it are just wonderful.

In terms of ol' Mel G. it just shows how people don't give a crap what celebrities do - I'm sure his new film is as disgustingly awful as his last film - but people are people - it won't make its money back and the Golden Globe nominating panel is made up of PUBLICITY people, which should tell you everything you know.

I also love BK's "A Broadway Christmas" and "A Hollywood Christmas," as well as "Cabaret Noel:  A Broadway/Cares Christmas."  I have all of these packed away in storage, but I desperately want to find "Cabaret Noel" before our last Cannibal performance on Sunday.  I want to make mini-CDs of the song "Wishing You a Drag Queen Christmas" for all of the other drag queen Indians as a good bye gift!  I have the pictures and that'll be the cover!

Speaking of a cappella Christmas music:  I think I posted about this on Christmas Eve last year, but First Call's 2 "An Evening in December" CDs are about the most luscious vocal stuff you'll ever hear.

I'm also thinking about adding as a second track, Bette Midler's song "I'm Beautiful" from her "Bathhouse Betty" CD. ;)

I once re-wrote a Bert I. Gordon script that he was supposed to direct, I believe, but the financing fell through.  Sy Weintraub was going to produce it.  It was a FRANKENSTEIN script and a damned fine one, I might add.

You're just resentful because you got passed-over as the arranger for the APOCALYPTO A CAPAELLA Christmas-Mayhem album.

I've read implications in an article by John Schlesnger's lover that the homophobia is more of out of Catholic guilt for the things he's done to become a star.

The power just blinked here at work and everyone's computers restarted!!  I'm going to leave and claim Inclement Weater.  It's at the employee's discresion.  If the library director were here, she could close the building and then it would be Emergency Leave.  Either way, I don't have to make up all the time that I need for today! ;)

We are expecting a major windstorm this evening in the Pacific Northwet.  I was hoping I could sign in and post for a while before it hits, but my lights are already flickering, so I guess I had better sign back off.
