That's best, DR KERRY - although at least we have images of him how he used to be.  For most of us, our former litheness is just a dim memory......

I must say (re: the election) that for someone who does not live in the US (me) it seems like such an odd system that the entire state goes entirely Republican or Democrat.

In Canada (i don't know if it's any better but), in the city of montreal for example every suburb is counted as one. So the majority in that suburb is what counts. The more populated provinces do end up having the most say.

I wonder do any countries just go strictly by majority?

North Korea
Burma

Many democracies elect the Head of State by a majority popular vote and the Chief Executive by a representative method.

Canada's Head of State is the un-elected Queen Elizabeth.

I am watching a 2002 BBC documentary about Luchino Visconti.  It features a contemporary interview with Helmet Berger.

I don't feel so fat now.

I can't imagine a fat Helmet Berger.  Didn't he get some prince or count to legally adopt him in the mid 70's?

Here is Helmut in 2007.

My, my!  A far cry from "Dorian Gray."

Yes, indeed. Then again, I don't much look like the 140 pound fella that I was in 1971 either.

It turned into a gorgeous day here. Blue skies with nice, puffy white clouds. Ideal November weather.

I was going to watch THE SHIELD today during my lunch, but there was a foul-up with the recording, and it was unlistenable.

So, thankfully, I had also recorded RAISING THE BAR and watched that show's season finale instead. OK episode, but this is not a riveting series.

I watched 3 1/2 more episodes of SUPERNATURAL including the hilarious "Ghostfacers" episode. Wonder if we'll see these guys in season four. Of course, A.J. Buckley is now a regular on CSI: NY, so it's doubtful.

I began the last episode and got the teaser watched but cut it off and will watch the bulk of the show when I go back down. There appear to be three bonus features on the third disc which I'll also investigate when I go back down.

The new Shake Shack was pretty good.  I'm not exactly sure how the whole "long line" process is going to work once Spring and Summer come around, but, thankfully, when I get there this afternoon, there was no line, and I was able to walk right up to the counter to place my order.

There is seating inside - upstairs and downstairs - and they have bathrooms at this location, but it definitely seats less than Madison Square Park. ;)

I gave one of their new Concretes a try: Upper West Slide - Vanilla Custard, Strawberry Puree, Bananas and Shortbread Cookies.  Very tasty.

One of the bonuses on disc two was a 16-minute set of improvisations by the actors on the "Ghostfacers" episode. Only a few of their comments were used in the actual show (most of the best quips), but I'm glad I got to see all of their filmed "interviews." Sadly, the presentation was in 480i.

And I just finished watching today's installment of "The View"...

I have to say, I'm really wondering what the "Women of the The View" are going to talk about now that the election is over.  I really have enjoyed their lively(!) discussions over the past couple of weeks.  Heated, honest and still friendly all at the same time.  -And today's "wrap-up" of sorts was quite moving at times.

And when I got home, not only did I find that our front door was left ajar(?!?!?!?!), but we also had a "robo-call" from The Jonas Brothers!  -"They" were calling on the behalf of Verizon's new package offerings.  ::)

I am intrigued by the promotional video of DOCTOR ATOMIC, the opera that DR JOSE is attending.

Interesting.

http://www.metoperafamily.org/metopera/season/production.aspx?id=9869&detect=yes

Yep, it does promise to be an interesting evening.

*And the "mini-site" that The Metropolitan Opera has developed for Doctor Atomic is quite a good primer, preparation for the opera.

I must locate this movie:

MISS CHAAL BAAZ (1961) starring Helen, Ismail, and K. N. Singh

She was not a witty girl. In order to track down the murderer of her own father, she had to adopt several means and ways which were looked upon by the people as cunning designs. . As soon aa Roopa (Helen) retuned from England, she saw the dead body of her father who was the biggest scientist of the country. Her late father had devised a formula to reach the Mars. Due to this discovery he had to sacrifice his own life. Later, the formula came into the hands of Dr. Sinha. Dr. Sinha, with the help of the formula and by unsing all sorts of crafty means, tried to desroty the entire world. He also got the help of the scientists of Mars. In order to save the world from disaster Dr. Ghosh, Ashok, and Roopa had to face lot of troubles. . How Roopa outwitted several people to attain her object, can be seen in details in the proud offering "Miss Chalbaaz".

I received my quarterly e-mail 401(k) statment two weeks ago and it's just sitting in my mailbox. I opened it so that it would fall into the old-mail file cabinet but I have yet to look at it. Since I'm back in the rathole I figure why bother.

There's something to be said for living paycheck to paycheck. ::)

Good Evening!

Time for me to head to Lincoln Center to experience the new production of Doctor Atomic.  -I have a strange(?) feeling I'm going to be quite moved emotionally by the end of the evening. Don't know why, just have a feeling.  -Although, now that I think back to it, I still remember being quite surprised at how much I "got" Nixon In China when it was at the Washington Opera (Kennedy Center) many years ago.  So...  Alas, I shall need my umbrella tonight too - which means I may have to check my bag and coat... which means I'll have to stand in line at the coatcheck...  Ah, well... The things we do for Art.  ;)
