For the first time in over a week, there is NO snow on the road.Sorry to learn that.
So I can do my regular shopping rounds today!
That is nice.
I also dropped out of the Dancing With the Stars competition because of the weather - it is too far to drive and much more bad weather is expected.....I wish they would hold it later in the spring.
Did Christina Aguilera actually sing "At the twilight's last reaming" last night before th Super Bowl? Sure sounded like it!Good one. Now where's the spoof of the dancing Oompa Loompas during halftime?
A very quick Christina Aguilera Star Spangled Banner parody - founding fathers watch and react (all in fun)

I do love her - but this moment just cried out for parody.
Condolences to the friend of DR The Vixter.
TOD: I'd like a dust jacket to go with my first edition copy of "The Good Companions." Or maybe a first edition of any of Anthony Trollope's books. Or anything of George Eliot's, Jane Austin's or Charles Dickens'.
Condolences to the friend of DR The Vixter.Condolences.
TOD - I would like the dust jacket for my autographed copy of ELOISE, but I read the book until the cover disintegrated. My sister took me to the book department at Detroit's (late) downtown J. L. Hudson store to meet Kay Thompson when I was 5 or 6 years old.I can see why you would treasure that. Great story.
And the word of the day is: SEPTEMPARTITE!
Temp in Oakland yesterday -- upper 70s. Had to run a fan all night just to stir the air in my condo.Only occasionally?
Slept very well.
Still stuffed up, sinus/nasal congestion-wise. A bit lethargic today. Lots to do and too few hours today to complete it all. Sigh. Plus two time-consuming get-nothing-done meetings to attend. Sigh.
Mondays can, occasionally, suck.

Just received an e-mail from one of my instructors that we would be having an online session tonight at 7:30. I can't believe this. Is there any sort of professional courtesy in that? I wrote back saying I had business plans for the evening and that I would prefer at the least a 24-hour advance notice of events in which I am to be involved. Am I overreacting?
What's shocking about "the flub" by Aguilera is that she KNEW she'd be singing it...she should have been practicing, practicing, practicing...and it should have been "muscle memory" forming the words even if she wasn't thinking about them.
But...folks flub stuff...even skilled, verstaile professionals. Stuff happens.

I'm sure she knows the words to the anthem. Maybe it had something to do with how difficult it is to sing the song a) live in front of millions of million or b) the weird echo the microphone makes.

I am back from the hospital, where I had every woman's favorite screening procedure. I could have just stayed home, stuck my chest in the freezer, and had Richard lean on the door, but that wouldn't have told my doctors anything. Not that I expect there to be anything TO tell them, it was just time.
The New York Times even covered the Christina Aguilera flub
http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/02/06/aguilera-flubs-national-anthem/
DR FJL - thanks for the parody. What made Christina's flub even more shocking to me was the video that we'd just received from our niece of her son's kindergarten class singing the national anthem at a high school basketball game Friday night. They got all the words right.

Nicky ate his dinner when I came home, asked for a handful of cookies, and then he went to bed.
I am thinking that it may heal without seeing the doctor.
I think I will call Peter Schickele tomorrow; one of my favorite albums of his has never been released on CD and I wonder if he's had it transferred and can burn me a copy. There's a sound clip on his site but the album isn't available. Damn!

I need to take the garbage out.
I am very pleased to say that my noodles finally matched the awesomeness of Aunt Ruth's noodles. My DH always talks about Aunt Ruth and her noodles whenever I make chicken and noodles, but until tonight I did not make them the same way she did.
No First Editions for you, George?
I always hear about the summer my DH spent with Aunt Ruth and Uncle Oliver on their egg farm whenever I attempt chicken and noodles. And about the way she spanked him when he said, "Chicken AGAIN?" Apparently, one eats a lot of chicken when one lives on an egg farm.
Oh -- and the electric company came by and put in a new meter. So, of course, the router couldn't reset after loosing power. So I was internetless for the afternoon.
It is a good thing I was home, because he said he would have climbed over my fence to get to my meter. I have a terrible fear of people climbing over my fence for liability reasons.
Ok. I am not a singer. (Shut up, Kerry.) But sometimes I just want to grab a throat and say, "Pick a note. Just pick a note. And stay on it!!"
re: some of the comments from yesterday.
I watched INCEPTION a few weeks ago. I think the idea was better than the movie.
I wish my library would get THE SOCIAL NETWORK as I really want to see it.
Where the heck is Cilla when you need her?

Sounds like you're having a good time Jose!

Aunt Ruth never made liver and onions. My mom did, though.

Well, I cooked a couple of chicken breasts in canned broth. Yes, canned broth. Then I chopped some carrots and celery and onions. I put them in to cook when I put in the noodles. Here is the noodle recipe

Hey George! Welcome to TCB His Way!
He even packaged up the leftovers for lunch at work tomorrow. This is monumental.

Richard and I had an interesting "date" this evening. We went to a program called "Heart & Sole" offered at the sports medicine clinic that our hospital has at a nearby YMCA. First we had our blood pressure and cholesterol checked, then we had our foot physiology analyzed by a physical therapist. She recommended exercises that the technicians then taught us and we also had a presentation by a shoe expert. I've been intending to buy new walking shoes, so this was extremely helpful. We had a lot of expensive attention paid to us, for free.
Oh! And one actor already promised to buy me a drink later. -And that was BEFORE I played his audition!
Oh! And another actor just came up to me and asked if he could buy me a drink. :)
-Frankly, I'd rather be "tipped" in chocolate. ;)

This is interesting. Will Richard now be joining you on your special diet?
My dad loved liver and onions.
I love liver and onions.
Mum won't touch liver and onions.
I rarely make it anymore.
