DR JMK - how was school for the boychicks yesteday?

Gabe hates high school, so all is normal there.   ;D

Zach had a generally really good day, and he was the one I was worried for.  That said, he was very nervous again this morning.  He gave me a VERY big hug when I said goodbye to him at the bus.  :)

You and Betsy have prepared them very well - I won't say don't worry, since that's not possible - but soon it will all be "old hat" to them.

BK: Given the success of the "Promises, Promises" and "Sugar" re-releases on CD, are there any other musicals you plan to clean up and restore for us?

I don't doubt that he does...but we'll never find out what they are until they're ready to be announced.  I hate that.

Back from cardiac rehab and a couple of shopping stops.  At Kroger, I bought tilapia and potatoes to bake for our dinner - soft foods for DS Rob who, at the ripe old age of 25, today had his first dental filling.  He'd been very proud of his perfect teeth and was kind of bummed about this turn of events.

Is it common now to announce your engagement via facebook?

I wouldn't be surprised.  This morning on received a bulk Facebook email from my niece announcing her engagement. :)  She did apologize for her method of delivery.

Bruce, you should be aware that not everyone can wear progressive lenses. I wear them now for distance and am fine with them, but I couldn't adjust to the first pair at all. My optician felt it was because there wasn't enough difference between the distance Rx and the reading Rx. Now there's more difference between the two, but I still need reading glasses when I'm doing close work. Most opticians will exchange the progressive for another non-progressive, if need be. I hope yours are fine and this isn't necessary.

I do better with the distance & the in-between.  It is the reading portion that gives me the biggest problems.  I basically removed it.  They have to leave a little in there.  Mostly I take my glasses off and read close to my face.  For walking, hiking & driving I wear my distance glasses.

I always ask the technicians to put the reading portion as high as possible in my progressive lenses and they're fine for casual reading - newspapers, crossword puzzles, hymnal & prayerbook.  However, for sustained reading I have separate reading glasses and for counted cross-stitch I look below my glasses all together.

So does he, DR JRand!  This was a small "defect" that the dentist thinks developed when Rob had his braces.  They've been watching it and decided that filling it now would be the prudent thing to do.

I'll be interested to see how the progressive lens works - there is quite a big difference in my close and far sight, so I'm hoping it's fine.

I've been trying to send a simple e-mail reply through the mac mail program and it's been "sending" for ten damn minutes.  One more minute and Apple will be getting a call from me.

It may take a while to get used to moving your head, not your eyes, to "lock in  focus" items in mid range - and loooking down when descending stairs is really tricky (the step is not in the focal range when looking down).

Note: if there is a large range between your near and far vision, you may want to consider a set of fixed-focus mid range glasses for computer use.

Walking through a bookstore can be a problem. All that type going by can be disorienting.

Which glasses do you use for the computer? You might consider making a change ;)

Why I like using the computer to put books on hold at the library, no more trying to read the titles.

Final rain total is 9 inches at the house yesterday and this morning. It cleared up, but it looks like it's going to rain again.

Make my own truffles. better than shopping for them. Messy, but fun.

Like shopping for CDs, too. Found the revival cast of "Nine" unopened for $1 last night.
