I also picked up a produce box. I just trimmed three pounds of green beans to take to the potluck. I will be eating a lot more squash this week.

For me it would be:

Singin' In the Rain
Molly Brown
Tammy and the Bachelor
Divorce American Style
Mother
The Gazebo

I always liked Mary, Mary and What's the Matter With Helen?

I'm up, I'm up - alarm didn't go off.  Just as well as I was up for ninety minutes at five-thirty, so even with the extra hour I didn't quite get eight hours.

I keep remembering the scene in Tammy and the Bachelor, when she was working in the mansion as a tour guide and told the story of the dress she was wearing......and loved her singing the title song.....

It's been 61 years since I saw it at the drive in, and I remember like it was yesterday.  I bought the DVD set that has ALL The Tammy movies on it, including Sandra Dee and Susan Watson....  They just point up how good Debbie was.....

I need to see a few of these movies people are listing.

SINGIN' IN THE RAIN is the greatest, and I like her in MOLLY BROWN even if I don't like the film version so much.

But let's have a little love for HOW THE WEST WAS WON.  She has a gorgeous song moment in that.

I forgot completely about HOW THE WEST WAS WON!  I haven't seen that since it's first release and I remember that I liked it a lot.  I love the soundtrack recording.

When my baby sister Molly was small - before and after her foot operation (she wore a cast until she was about 2 1/2 years old, she was born with a club foot) - we would always listen to the soundtrack of The Unsinkable Molly Brown.  We loved it.

She had a walking cast, so she would dance to "Belly Up to the Bar".  Our favorite song was "He's My Friend."

Last night I watched Debbie Reynolds in the movie.  It's the first time I've watched it since she passed away, and it made me very sad.  She was something special.  I didn't like ALL of her movies, but she was good in everything.

I wonder - what is everyone's favorite Debbie Reynolds movie...

I love her in The Pleasure of His Company in addition to many of the ones mentioned here. She's fun in Athena and in this number with Bob Fosse from Give a Girl a Break:

And I love Debbie in I Love Melvin.

I’ve gotta crow — for I have entered an entire song into Finale, and y’all can’t imagine what a landmark achievement that was.  144 bars of SATB, piano, bass, with drums to be added later.  That’s more challenging because I don’t have experience in drum notation.  Reading it is one thing.  Figuring out how to get it all in properly when it’s not written out well in the first place, is another.  In the meantime, I’ll tackle another song, one in a wholly different style from the first.

Did quite a bit of futzing and finessing and smoothing and moving things around.  I'll let Muse Margaret decide if I gilded the lily one time too many for a certain thing.  If she thinks so I'll just delete the first time I do it and move the second time I do it to the first time and just refer to that one instance where I have the second example.  Could this be any more enigmatic?

Heroes: Fighting In The AIDS trenches went very well. The audience was very receptive and appreciative. Ruth Coker Burks who was the subject of the first story was crying. She told me afterward that she has been approached by other writers who wanted to tell her story and there was even an "unauthorized" version, but my play was accurate and the best written of all the other attempts. So that was very gratifying.

We were competing against Tommy Tune & Chita Rivera in concert and The AIDS Smart Ride which had been rescheduled from last fall because of the hurricane so we were not completely sold out.

There was one hiccup: I had video and photos that went along with the play and my MAC powerpoint was not compatible even though I was told it was. They eventually managed to transfer to their own system and by the time they did there was no time to run the show with the images. But thankful the actors were familiar with it as they rehearsed with it. At one point one of the actors jumped ahead a bit but was able to get back on track when he saw the slide and got to the right place.

That's too bad about the technical hiccup, but congrats on the evening...especially Ruth Coker Burks' reaction!

We're about to start, but we have to hold the house because we're sold out!  I guess too many people didn't buy their tickets beforehand and that's contributing to it taking long.

Yesterday Richard and I took a day trip to Danville, KY, to pick up the item for which I've been making room in my craft corner.  I found it on Craigslist and had been emailing back and forth all week with the seller, along with measuring and purging in my room to make room for this beauty:

That is so cool!  Congrats, Ginny!

TCB - Thanks for asklng!  The Lehrer family (Jim, Kate, and their three daughters and their families) seemed to really like what they saw and heard, which was great to know.  They all stayed for the panel discussion afterward (Jim even spoke), and he wrote a great email the next day once he got home, which thrilled the cast and company.

Our agent is now out of the country on business, so if any theaters had called her to ask for the script, we just wouldn't know yet.  But fingers are crossed!

That's wonderful!  Congrats, Fred!
