I've been out in the snow, which is quite deep. It's very quiet and people on the streets seem to be in a good mood. Tnere's very little traffic and it's kinda fun to stand in the middle of a Broadway lane of traffic and look down the street, as far as 77th Street or so. On my way out I ran into my neighbor Steve, who directs for ALL MY CHILDREN. He was off to work on sound for a film he shot this summer.
The sidewalk from 200 West 82 to the laundromat (216 West 82, I believe) was nicely cleared off. That's about three quarters of the block. I got to Broadway and stumbled into Laytners to look at their Christmas sale items, then crossed Broadway to the bank, which is closed. I deposited the checks via the ATM and wandered over to the bodega on Amsterdam and 82nd.
The wind is fierce and flurries of snow still blow around, making it feel chillier than it is. The drifts are enormous and the streets are crossable in small footpaths. I only fell once, at 82nd and Broadway as I was treading the footpath leaving the bank. My hands got a lot of snow but there was no damage.
I have no idea if we have mail delivery today or not.
