Ah, well...

The "musical emergency" down in Orlando is no longer an emergency.  There was someone else on-site.  Damn him!!!

;)

Well, it was more like who was cheaper and closer.  ;)

But, seriously, the head of SETC, Betsey Baun, was all set to fly me down tonight if needed.  She's the best!

Had a friend drop by wanting to listen to A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC. Totally unfamiliar with it (can there be such a person connected with theater who didn't know this score? Well, there was but no more! Naturally, he was astonished to find out "Send in the CLowns" came from this score).

The local auditions for the show are a week from Sunday, so he wanted to hear it to see if he wanted to bother trying out. He's probably going to go with me to the auditions but isn't sure now if he's going to audition or not.

Then, I proceeded to catch up with the last two episodes of CSI: NY which I hadn't been able to watch.

Last week's episode concerned a death in a doll hospital. (Yep, you read that right). Good episode and a surprising killer.

Ah, Duets!

Well... Off the top of my head...

"The Tennis Song", "What You Don't Know About Women", "You're Nothing Without Me" - City of Angels

"A Man", "Worth It" (which is not published, but worth searching out) - Weird Romance....

Jose, the two Weird Romance songs have been published in the songbook, but it's now out of print.  I have it.  I looked on Amazon.com and someone is trying to sell it for $73.79!! :o

And two of my favorite duets:  "Beauty That Drives a Man Mad" from Sugar (although I do prefer, and have actually performed, the version that was used in the London production of Some Like It Hot...we had it transcribed from the recording ;)) and "We Are Women" from Candide.

There are also the Singer's Musical Theatre Anthology Duets books.

Last night's two crimes were certainly unusual.

One was set at an exotic food party where such gourmet dishes as fried tarantulas and broiled centipedes were among the dishes consumed. (It was death by octopus in this case.)

The other involved water gun wars (instead of paint gun wars which I was familiar with.)

DR Jennifer, I will try to go back and see about the viewership in millions for the two hours of THE AMAZING RACE. Not making any promises that the stats are still there, but should be able to get it in the archives.

Continued MEDIUM Spoiler:

Why do you believe the kid ever had a key?  At the opening of the show, two employees were standing outside waiting for the manager to let them in.  Obviously no key.  BTW, the manager called the doctor/mother because the kid continued to hang around after she had fired him.

End of round four. See what happens when I actually watch a show with the rest of you!  Shall I return to watching days later? ;D

Okay...hmmmm....how about this:

The birth mother let the doctor into the shop.  The door was locked from the outside, but could be opened from the inside.  When the doctor left, the door locked behind her.

Plenty of shops have doors like these!

My name is Bill, and I am a Wussburger.

However,

1. We admitted we were powerless over Wussburgerness; that our lives had become unmanageable.

2. Came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to posting....

Welcome back, WFO!!

My excuse for being a late night Wussburger...a power bill of $131.99!! :o For only ONE MONTH!!  I can't afford to stay up and have my lights on anymore! :(

Hmm... Maybe I'm thinking of another Weird Romance duet?  Hmm... Or maybe I have the title wrong, but I thought "Worth It" was not in the book - which I have.  Hmm...

I'm thinking of the one in the first act...

I completely agree with you. I had to turn away with all of those "goodies" whether they were eating them or not.

Completely nauseating for me.

THE AMAZING RACE ratings, BTW, were down 17% from the same premiere a year ago on basically the same date. Of course, the competition was not the same a year ago.

But I think Chris has surprised me. I really really liked him last night.

I also think Ace is really good. He has the right look.

As for Elliot, he was really good last night and he has a nice sweet personality. But there is something about the way he looks that needs to go. I can't quite put my finger on it.  His clothes are nice. Maybe it's his buzz haircut with his ears sticking out. Or maybe it's the funny bangs in the front of his hair. Or his teeth.  But he just doesn't look like i think the winner needs to look. And i'm not sure if he can get the fan support.

Maybe it's the overwhelming talent he possesses that sets him apart.  He definitely doesn't belong in the competition because he's much better than any of the others, including Chris!

For the longest time, I got Chris and Elliot confused because they both look alike physically...and they're not far apart facially, either.

I'd have to say that if Elliot doesn't "look" like a potential winner, then Chris is also doomed.

But both put all the pretty boys in the competition to shame..

Hmm...

Very interesting weather-related factoid on the news...

It's currently 39 degrees in Frederick, MD.

It's currently 77 degrees in Spotsylvania, VA... Just about a two hour drive from Frederick, MD.

Hmm...
