Jello was made earlier. I'm just waiting for it to firm up.As long as nothing strange is lurking in it. Like lima beans.
I love Jello.
Two show day was great. I must say, in the 5 years we've done this show, this year is the best. Not only on stage, but off as well. The 80+ people seem to get along well, and play together well. Characters are solid, the singing is good, the band is great (2 keys, bass, drums, 2 violins, 1 flute - no horn this year, and man it's better!!!) We close tomorrow, but I'm kinda sad because we're having such fun. Usually I can't wait to finish, but this year's production could run some more and I'd be happy.

DR Jane if nobody else wants a tree but you couldn't you just decorate a smaller tree?
I don't have a tree being Jewish, but usually we all go over to decorate my aunt's tree. But she is going to be out of town for Christmas this year. So no decorating. I actually love decorating Christmas trees.
My sis has a tree but they decorated it themselves.
I sure hope someone found the costumes yesterday. If not, it will be an interesting nativity this year.
This Year! For the First Time!
The Nude Nativity!
See What Mary Saw!
Joseph and His Amazing Technicolor!

I think DRs Ben, Ginny and I prefer the traditional "Lime Jello Marshmallow Cottage Cheese Surprise."
I've made out my invocie to the Institute and sent it off, and I think I will run my errands now.

I have a mini table top tree but can't find the mini decorations for it. I might have dumped the old tree with the worn decorations. I have more decorations to scatter around the house today, including beautifully wrapped empty gift boxes I have saved over the years.
BK, I am enormous fan of the original TRUE GRIT. I do not think it is Wayne's best performance, though a mighty fine one. I advise you to go see the new TRUE GRIT. It is a perfectly respectable remake and a fine movie in its own right. Some things are better than the original (notably Matt Damon in the Glenn Campbell role); some things not as good; a lot pretty much the same. But, as it's been over forty years, there is no reason not to return to this material and the Coens Bros. and their cast do a worthwile piece of work.
I will be having a visitor around 1pm.
Applesauce is a great way to take my pills. They have a bad taste especially if they don't go down on the first swallow. They leave a bad taste on the tongue. This morning with my applesauce I just pushed one in the middle of a spoonful and swallowed and didn't even know it was there.
DR Ben - Love the Snuggie. -And nice flowers too.
Enjoy your time at home today.

You can always go old fashioned and string popcorn and cranberries on a thread and use it as garlands on the tree
I still don't have much ambition. Did get the kitchen cleaned and need to do laundry. I aslo need to do some work I brought home. I think there is a real chance I can be caught up before Christmas. It was my goal for the month and Edith is on board. we're getting along fine now. I think she was just worried about something. She doesn't talk about her life the way I do. So, sometimes I just have to walk away and wait like I did this time and things will get better. They did.

I used to string popcorn every year until a friend mentioned she kept hers in the freezer to be reused. It was a pain to string back then, no way is my shoulder doing it today.
Jane a few days ago you asked if I was serioulsly thinking about an intern. Yes, I am. There are no paralegal interns or law school interns this time of year, not usually until summer.

You could make a paper chain like we used to do as little kids
Or just put ribbon around in a nice design
Well, I'm trying to get that tree decorated for you, Jane
I watched the original TRUE GRIT again about a week ago.
I agree with BK that it's no classic, but it's certainly a much better film than I remembered it being.
Wayne was terrific and, despite what some people have quipped, I do think he earned the Oscar that year.

I am of the opinion that Wayne was given the Oscar because folks thought he might not make many (if any) more films. Four classic performances were nominated that year...and then there was Wayne. The best performance of that year was turned in by Peter O'Toole (as was the case in virtually any year in which he appeared in a film), followed by Voigt, Hoffman and Burton.
It wasn't even prime Wayne. His greatest moment was in "The Quiet Man".

I know who was nominated and they were all fine performances.
But, I don't think that anybody was "robbed" that year.

We are talking about 1969-1994
I've said this before (and I'm not the first one to say it), but:
You don't remake a hit...only a flop.
TRUE GRIT may not be a classic, but it was a major hit and is fondly remembered by people who saw it.
I'm sure that Jeff Bridges is excellent in the role of "Rooster". He seems like perfect casting, but as good as he might be, he will always be competing with the memory of John Wayne.

I did not give the names of the nominees because I thought you did not know them. I wrote for "everyone" becuase I doubt everyone remembers.
I thought O'Toole was ROBBED every time he lost (except 1962). Most especially to Cliff Robertson and John Wayne!

To that last comment, I completely concur!!! However...they don't make movies any more for folks who remember John Wayne "at the movies." Any more than they make movies any more folks who consider the original "The Day the Earth Stood Still" a sci-fi classic.
Who these people are that they remake classics (or memorable films) for are people who cannot be bothered with classics...with anything black and white, or that starred anyone they never heard of.
We have a wealth of film history at our fingertips and several generations of young people who won't let their fingers do the walking.
Thus...unneeded/unnecessary/(and usually underthought) remakes. Overproduced, naturally.
On the other hand...Jeff Bridges as Rooster ought to be a real treat. Bridges is an actor!!! Wayne was...Wayne...a force of nature, but essentially the same character film after film.

I am getting sick of delis hiring workers with English as a second language. I ordered over an hour ago Virginia ham on rye with Swiss. lettuce, tomato and mayo. What I just unwrapped to my dismay was Virginia ham on a roll with Swiss, lettuce, tomato and mayo!

Ron, I agree that most years O'Toole has been up, he's been robbed. The greatest actor never to win an Oscar for an array of brilliant performances. I think I'd have to say Wayne's greatest performance is THE SEARCHERS, although QUIET MAN is a damned close second.
Hi Jane. I have a fake 3 foot tree up this year. Just the perfect size for coffee table decor. From Radko. And that was enough to make the whole house festive. Nice and simple and cheerful with only German (very colorful and silly) wooden ornaments.
DR Jane - I like your little tree very much!
This Friday and Saturday I'll be baking cookies, to give to may 20 or so neighborhood houses I've become aquainted with. All really nice people and their pets. No doggie cookies though. I'm not venturing into that baking.
Love your tree, Jane. Glad Keith likes it. Glad you found the decorations
Well, I didn't get to see the nativity this morning. I was in the ER with a 92-year-old 72-pound woman full of spit and vinegar who fell at church this morning.
Jumping in with a pleas for vibes for my stepmom who is being life-flighted here to Atlanta on life support--something that just happened very suddenly. Please, all the vibes you can muster....waiting to hear when the flight leaves and then meeting it at the hospital. Thanks to all...
Well, she's mad at the doctor for not letting her go home, and she argued something fierce with the social worker who was asking too many questions. I want to be just like her when I grow up.
I don't have a tree being Jewish, but usually we all go over to decorate my aunt's tree. But she is going to be out of town for Christmas this year. So no decorating. I actually love decorating Christmas trees.

;D That does happen.
I'm posting to show you that things are progressing. Here is a shot of me watching Arthur (Laura, tell Sandra) and wearing the Snuggie I received from some office mates. It was taken last night just before 7pm.

I do understand that, Jane, but I was just wondering if her sister put up a Christmas tree even though she is Jewish. I have a great many Jewish friends who celebrate Christmas (minus the Jesus part) and actually do have Christmas trees.
I am also a prime example that not all Christians have Christmas trees.
Good Morning! Good Afternoon!
I'm up, I'm up... And I thought it was supposed to snow today?

My step-sister just called me; she didn't make it. I am in a state of shock. She had planned to come in to xmas shop but didn't feel up to it. This doesn't seem real. Thanks for all the vibes; her family really needs them now because she was the center of their universe and they were all so close; really extensions of each other. My father, who is bedridden has no idea what's going on. He will be completely devastated---he loved her so much and I don't even know if he will want to survive without her. I am going up tomorrow to break the news to him with my step-sisters. How do you tell someone something so horrific? Vibes for her family would be so much appreciated. It's like the world has been yanked out from under us all.
I wish some of you HHW Jews would let Betsy know Moses is not going to descend from the sky with bolts of fury if we put up a Christmas tree. ;)

As requested earlier by DR Laura, here is my blue Christmas tree. It is even purtier when the Christmas lights are on.
