And while I was walking around today, I saw this... -Which should bring back some nice memories for DR edisaurus.  :)

Ohhhhh...salivate....I could use one of those right about now!

I just got back from seeing AVENUE Q. It was a yucky, rainy night and so we went down to the Fox box office, (which is now just down the road from us!) and they had 2 good seats so I snapped them up. We found a free parking space, we didn't have to pay Ticketbastard, and we had a cheap dinner at Quiznos so I felt justified in getting the good seats, which we only $20 more apiece than the nosebleed seats.

We got there early, so we went up and visited with my mom's best friend (she's kind of like an aunt to us) who ushers for many of the shows. She's always at the same station, so it's easy to find her. She had already ushered for the matinee and enjoyed it very much.

I had the original cast album but didn't know about a lot of the staging. I think our favorite thing in the show was the "Bad Idea Bears".  So funny!

I've been working on my reports and listening to "Windflowers: The Songs of Jerome Moross." Philip Chaffin began "Ridin' On The Breeze" and I totally lost it. It's like "The Cowboy Waltz" sung by Mr Guy Haines: somethng in the performance, the text, and the music reaches into your chest, grabs your heart, and tears it out.

DR Ron Pulliam and I will have to disagree on AN AMERICAN IN PARIS, even though my beloved Johnny Green worked on it: I don't like the musical arrangements, I detest the Big Ballet primarily because I think Irene Sharaff's work is ugly, I love Leslie Caron in everything but this. I did like Georges Guetary and Nina Foch.

I've been an admirer of Sharaff's work most of my life.  I think her costumes are glorious.  Horses for ..etc.

I began my evening with DIE HARD WITH A VENGEANCE in Blu-ray. It's always been the weakest of the DIE HARD movies, and the Blu-ray doesn't alter that fact, but it's still a lot of fun, another guilty pleasure I always enjoy returning to.

The various DVDs (and the laserdisc) of the movie have always looked rotten: grainy, noisy, full of ugly edge enhancement.

The Blu-ray is a thing of beauty. The graininess and noise are all gone, and the edge ringing is all but nonexistent. The Blu-ray also has the highest end sound possible in its DTS-HD Master Audio lossless soundtrack. So the sound was clean, effortless, stupendous.

DR Ron Pulliam - I guess I'm flattered in a sense that you chose to pay such close attention to the "patterns" on my cookie sheets...  By the time I had taken the picture, I had already bagged up some of them.

"bagged"....was that a euphemism?

While waiting for TORCHWOOD to come on, I watched about 30 more minutes of BLADES OF GLORY. It's beyond ridiculous, but I'm an hour into the film now so I guess I'll finish it at some point this weekend.

Well, funny you should ask.  ;)

I believe my selection today included:

Pistachio/Lemon
Cassis/Chocolate
Pear Brandy
Cointreau
Lemon/Chocolate
Mocha

-I think.  They're actually still sitting in their cute little container.

TORCHWOOD had a unique and very entertaining (but somber) episode. I really liked it.

[sigh] Only three new episodes left for this season.

I rewatched an episode from Season 1 of CSI: NY. This one featured two cases: the murders of a hip-hop DJ and a top fashion designer. Neither a great mystery (although the DJ featured a pretty good resolution).

And I ended my evening rewatching the GREY'S ANATOMY episode from Season 2 when we first got to meet the strikingly handsome Dr. Mark Sloan (Eric Dane). I only got halfway through the episode, but it is a favorite from that season. Actually, I think the entirety of Season 2 of GREY'S is about as close to a perfect season that any dramatic show has ever had.

It is a good thing I don't live in NY DR JoseP, because you would constantly lure me at all hours of the day and night with your cooking!

Good thing I had some cookies in my freezer.

Well, DR MBarnum, it's good to know that I can lure you with something.  ;)

DR Jose, what is the gold dust that is on some of the  macarons made of? I see our French baker, Luc, using stuff that looks like gold leaf or gold flakes. My DH was convinced it was ornamental, not edible, but I couldn't imagine them putting something like that on a cake if it wasn't supposed to be eaten.

It's edible gold leaf/dust.

I accomplished a great deal today.  I have more loading up my car and taking to storage a few things that wouldn't fit in today's trip.  BUT...I've already cleaned half my carpet and am ahead of the game, so to speak.  It's a wonderful feeling to get this stuff done and to re-order my life.

My bedroom is my next target.  There are things here that need carting out and the carpet  needs cleaning.  I've made a nice pile of clothing for charity,  but I'm looking at some under-bed containers that also have stuff I might ought to consider ridding myself of.  As long as I've got the energy/determination to do this, I am going to sally forth and do it.

The pictures of our Dear Jose's cookies were also mouthwatering, especially remembering the ones we took home with us from NY. It made our flight home bearable!

The reason the macaroons remained intact (until just a few minutes ago) is because the Shack Attack consisted of the following:

Chocolate Frozen Custard
Hot Fudge
Chocolate Truffle Cookie Dough
Valrhona Chocolate Chunks
Chocolate Sprinkles

YUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DR edisaurus - Glad you liked Avenue Q.  The one set of visuals that still manages to crack me up - and still sort of shock me - are the ones that go with "You Can Be As Loud As The Hell You Want When You're Making Love".  ;D

At times like these, I am sad and yet relieved that I don't live in NY.

 :D

I feel that way about a couple of places I've lived or visited.  One is Naples, Italy, where I lived for 9 1/2 years.  I miss the FOOD so much.  I took it so much  for granted.  I'd KILL for a real (make that REAL) pizza Margherita!

And Rome and Florence are places I'd love to  casually visit for several days again.  And then there is Vicenza, Italy.  I lived there for two years  and  I have so many strong memories of Italy associated with it because it was the first place I lived.

Athens, Greece, is a place my heart yearns for.   Ditto London.

Sigh.

But I'm grateful  to be where I am and so close to so much wonderful stuff.  I've never been to New York,  but hope to visit  one day.
