Jed, thank you.  That would be something if she is up to posting, yet I fear sitting may not be the most comfortable position for awhile.

She's got herself all set up with her laptop in her bedroom, so as not to miss all our merriment and mirth for TOO long.  Chances are good that she'll show up between naps. :D

Okay Ron let me think, play would not work any better-how about this....  Every time I had my own personal concert from, at the time undiscovered, Bruce Kimmel I always requested SOON IT'S GONNA RAIN.

DR Jane:  I was cast as Matt in a production of "The Fantasticks" in the fall of 1968.

Several years later, I didn't make the cut in auditions for a military production of the show in Vicenza, Italy, although I wasn't terribly upset by it as I had recently been Albert in a production of "Bye Bye Birdie."

I went to see the show and I was totally dumbfounded.  There wasn't a single "voice" in the show.  The directress had cast all non-singers, although they weren't tone deaf by any means.

Still....you'd think....and I know some lovely female voices were heard during auditions.

Ron-LOL I am sure every one of those non-voices in the show were better than mine is.

As strange as it seems, my "WHAT?" post had nothing to do with the exchange between you and BK re: Soon It's Gonna Rain.

Rather, it was part of an ongoing "railing at the universe" that I've indulged in on these here pages.

It was a "WHAT" one might utter if one caught someone staring at them.

Speaking of non-voices.  Keith and I were watching a preview of PHANTOM OF THE OPERA and I said we should see this at the big theater with the good sound system (our theaters in town don’t have the best sound).  Keith’s response was “it won’t improve his voice”.

For those looking to do an NYC trip relatively on the cheap, I'll again mention the Portland Square on 47th St., between 6th and 7th.  A thoroughly no-frills place, but it's clean, great location, and inexpensive.  They currently list a single room with private bathroom in mid-March as $85 per night ($80 for stays of three nights or longer).  Tough to beat for 1/2 block off Times Square.

The Fantasticks was my first college production,  I ran the  right spotlight and did makeup...

I just have to hear the first few notes of  "Try to Remember" and it all comes rushing backing to me....

I'm glad to hear that DR Ann is doing well. Hopefully we'll hear from her soon. Thanks for the update, Jed.

TOD:
Car CD Player: nothing. I've been listening to the radio.
DVD Player: Believe it or not, I now own a DVD. "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers," which is still as much fun as the first time I saw it.

My dear cyber-father and I would probably agree that it's as much fun now as ever... we just might not agree with you on exactly how fun that is. :D

You should have told them to put you on their mailing list. :D

They treated all the employees poorly, DRJane.  They were lovely hosts but lousy employers.

OK...  I'm gonna go ahead and get ready to head in for tonight's show.  I also want to fill my car's gas tank up before tomorrow's inevitable (at this point) snow.  -The forecasts all seem to agree we're gonna get at least 4 inches of snow.  As for the "at most" number, that's been anywhere between 6 and 8 inches.  Unfortunately, down in Richmond, it's looking like it might turn into a sleet and ice storm after the initial snow storm.  And since there are still parts of the city recovering from Hurricane Isabel a few months ago...  We shall see.

OK...

Jane, that was my memory.  Soon it's Gonna Rain was one of the first songs I learned to play by actually sort of reading the sheet music.

I wonder what time the Pool People will be here?  They said the afternoon, and I hope they are not stupid enough to wait until just before there is no more afternoon light.

Hisaka, or anyone else, have you heard of Wild Bamboo towels?  I read they are incredibly soft and absorbent.  The company that sells them in the States is a Japanese company called IKT.  The towels are actually Peruvian Tanguis Organic Cotton.  I am considering sampling a few, at our expense, and expense it not an understatement.

Well, on tonight's news the AFA (American Family Association?) is up in arms again about Spongebob Squarepants and this "We are a Family" video promoting a "homosexual agenda."  After watching the AFA representative bitching about this hidden agenda, all I could think about this guy was "methinks the lady doth protest too much!"

Wild Bamboo Towels is the title of my next novel.

Just got a lovely package from dear reader Tom of Oz - many thanks.

Also got Sammy's Back on Broadway, which has arrangements by Claus Ogerman.  Also picked up new DVDs of A Letter to Three Wives, Return to Peyton Place, Satan Never Sleeps, The Matchmaker, Carrie (Olivier), and A New Kind of Love.

And I got a really nice book from the Gay Men's Chorus, which features a lovely profile of elmore.  They'd written me for permission to use bits from our Unseemly Interview, which I happily gave them.
