Only a few more items left to retrieve from the house. Then must clean that old place. It is amazing how many dust bunnies appear once the furniture is gone.

So today I will be busy doing the above. Hopefully, I will have time to work in the apartment unpacking some more.

Apparently amidst all the raves Sugar is getting one pedantic fellow posted to castrecl that he is angry about the way we placed the instruments in the stereo soundfield because it doesn't exactly match how a symphony orchestra (or maybe any orchestra) would be - to which I say - this is a RECORDING and we do what's best for clarity sake and it's not far off what it would be anyway.  When Bacharach put the strings on the right in his mix of Promises he did so because he felt like it - tough.  I moved them back to the left on our remix only because we moved other stuff around for clarity sake - the idea is to have CLARITY - so that the wonderful orchestrations can shine forth and still not get in the way of the vocals.  Heaven save me from pedants and people who only go by some ancient "rule."  There used to be the ancient "rules" about how cast albums were recorded.  That was how you did it.  Period.  Vinnie and I came along and broke every rule you could and people looked at us askance for the first two years.  After that, they began to copy us, and now cast albums are done the way we do them.  So, we changed the rules, I guess and they were good changes.  But pedants can't deal with anything but what's set in stone.  For me, nothing is set in stone and recordings must work for the ear.  Nor is there anything wrong with how the instruments are placed in the soundfield, and since everyone BUT him is raving about how it sounds like it was recorded yesterday and how clear everything is, well, pedants go home.

DR JRand, I also strongly dislike the new Google image search. WTF are they thinking? I now go to Yahoo to search images.

Here is my neighbor to my south. (I actually lived in these apartments back in the mid 1990s, for a short time)

And my neighbor to the north, just across Union St., these nifty mid-century Hollywood style apartments, the kind you always see in Adam-12.

DR Laura,

Hope you have a marvelous birthday, and I look forward to seeing many photos of cakes, bugs, and anything else your camera captures!

Thank you, MBarnum. That's a lovely card.

Well... When they reprimanded me, it was so obvious that they weren't sure that should be stopping me, and since I just didn't want to deal with their stupidity, I left.

-And I've already had a nice exchange of emails with the folks at MoMA this morning. :)

That was when that mysterious switch happened. I stayed with the shorter name.

Helper got here a little late, but is now packaging.  My interview got cancelled again, which is actually great as I didn't want to go to Santa Monica in rush hour.  It will now happen just prior to the Book Soup signing.

Re:  Evening Primrose.  As I think I clearly stated yesterday, yes, it's been announced forever, including *multiple* press releases at various sites.  Has anyone gotten a copy yet?  I think not.  Now that reviewers who are dealing directly with the distribution companies have gotten official e-blasts that screeners are coming, it's a done deal.  That was the point of my post.

I missed the season premiere of THE BIG BANG THEORY because I had my times confused......I did see TWO AND HALF MEN and the new show MOLLY & MIKE.  M&M was okay, but the sassy black policeman who partners Mike and the sassy Puerto Rican dope smoking sister are too much for me (and the actors playing the roles are....well....graduates of the Debra Messing tv Acting School) - but it's always fun to see Swoosie Kurtz.

HAWAII FIVE O - hmmmmmmmmmmmmm......like the cast, except for the "girl" of the group, pretty useless.....but making the squad a "James Bond" type of organization battling terrorists really negates the idea of having them be in Hawaii.....perhaps this is just the pilot, and they will concentrate on the island in future episodes....otherwise.....I may not stick around....although there is Scott Caan.

I recorded all of these (except "How I Met Your Mother" instead of "Big Bang Theory") but haven't watched any, yet.

Well... Time for me to head out of the apartment for a bit.  Although, apparently, there's some major service disruption on the A/C, B/D lines, so... We shall see.

Laters...
