Love the watch the mouths of the CAST during that song in the movie, DR RLP.  Not everyone knows the lyrics!!!  And couple of them are always late during "Trouble."

They may have been lipsynching to a pre-recording.

Ancient songwriting lecture joke:

You know, when it comes right down to it, there are really only four basic kinds of songs in musical theater

1.  I'm in love

2.  I wish I were in love

3.  I'm glad I'm not in love

4.  Shipoopi

That's Ray Heindorf's underscoring.

Hermione is merely the beneificiary.

True.

My favorite underscoring is in the dance during "Marion the Librarian"...when Marion starts dancing...and especially after she does her noisy steps on the table and then steps off and the strings take over.

It's sheer heaven!

Not that I would know from such things, but I wonder if anyone here has stories about tangoing at the Anvil.

Now I MUST watch the movie.

Remember back in the old days when you could only watch it when some Television Programmer decided to show it on a Sunday afternoon....and how you waited ALL week for Sunday so you could see it...commercials and all.  And then somebody wanted to watch something else...  :-\

Angel collection cleared from the piano and shadow box and packed away - Check!

DS Rob will be quite surprised, because the angels have been on display since before Christmas 2005.  Every time he'd come home for a 2006 holiday, he'd tease me about the Easter angels, the Memorial Day angels, the Fourth of July angels, the Labor Day angels, the Thanksgiving angels.

There is/was another cousin of WH down south called Huddle House. That was kind of good. Anyone know if that is still around?

HH still has a large presence here in Georgia. There's also a similar thing called the Waffle King.

Who'd a ever thunk we'd one day have access to any movie we wanted to see?  And at our convenience, in our homes...in good quality, etc?

Actually, I know I dreamed about it. I used to wonder if anyone would ever make it possible for a record player to show, via a projector in the tone arm, a video of what was playing on any given album.

Heindorf is one of three credited orchestrators (Gus Levene is another, can't remember the third).  But, he's also the conductor and music supervisor, and the sound has that famous Heindorf Warner's sound.  They are great orchestrations, whoever did them.

Does the Dobbs House still exist as a commercial eatery?

There used to be Dobbs House eateries (not more than diners, really) all along the eastern seaboard.

For years, Dobbs House provided the Delta in-flight meals...and they were great.

Dobbs House had a wonderful steak filet on its menu.  And its fried chicken was a wondrous thing.

Boy, weren't you ahead of your time!

I was "into" soundtracks and I used to stare at a record as it played and try to imagine the scene from the movie that the music accompanied.  That thought led to wishing a little projector would pop up and show me the scene as I listened to the music.

I can't have been alone in doing this.
