...Children of Eden (for a bit of lyric review this morning)...Sunday in the Park with George
Currently in the DVD stack:
And Titanic, which we also did, but didn't get around to getting the DVD until now.
Titanic is ultimately a chick flick. That's why teenage girls kept seeing it over and over and over and over. But it works as a chick flick.
To that, I say, "Ugh, such a guy!" :)
5 guests and 5 users (4 if Tom actually does hit the hay - hey did the hay ever hit you, stop hitting!!!) and 40,202 messages (counting this one). At this rate we will hit 50,000 in no time and then what a party will ensue. I sound like John Kerry - thrice, ensue, so sue me, sue me, what can you do me, I love you (HHW, that is).
Allan Carr isn't the only one who enjoyed looking at Maxwell Caulfield. Nope, not much of an actor, but he was blessed with something else: extraordinary looks.

Thanks MattH. For some reason I have been in the mood for some Brendon Fraser.
I wondered about DAREDEVIL. Maybe I will have to pick that one up.
Has anyone seen Brendon Fraser's DUDLEY DO RIGHT? I keep it on the budger DVD racks and think about picking it up, but I am afraid! Is it worth $5.99?
RLP: It was the only "P" word that seemed acceptable.
I have Brendon Fraser's SCHOOL TIES on DVD at home. Perhaps I will pop that one in. I like that movie. And the shower scene with Brendon, Matt Damon, and Ben Affleck is always entertaining :o
Now, where in tarnation IS everyone on this fine little Friday?
She leaves Millie a couple of weeks into the LA run.
Thanks MattH. For some reason I have been in the mood for some Brendon Fraser.
Good Lord, I didn’t even know Mr. Goldsboro was still alive! Has someone been storing him, along with Walt Disney, inside a great-big chest freezer up above New Orleans Square???
Ray is a big fan of the rock group YES (I have to sit through them again in two weeks in the cavernous Madison Square Garden). We have seen the television ads for BIG FISH where the YES hit "See All Good People..." is featured, but according to a YES board he reads, they feature it in the trailer but not the film. Can one of you DRs who has seen this film please confirm this. Why would music be featured in an ad for the DVD of a film and not be used in the film itself? I know once in a while trailers for movies that have not been completed do this, but you would think there would have been ample time to use actual music in the ads for a DVD of the movie.
If I'm not mistaken, DRACULA came before FRANKENSTEIN.
All marks are fun, even Mr. Mark Bakalor.
I think there are several films with that title - who are the stars of your?
Hey TCB didn't Jrand give us that website earlier this week?
Okay I'm confused. It's a porn site? The chicken does commands (like sit or jump). What the heck else does it do that makes it porn?

The chicken would not do everything I told it to do. Evidently, it has standards. Reminds me of some dates I've had...
DR Maya asked (yesterday) about the play The SHAPE OF THINGS. I have not seen it. But they are doing a production here, and I will see it next Sunday.
I have no idea! All I remember is that it came out around 1971-72 and that it's about witches and devil worshippers and there's a real cool scene where they pull a witch's tongue out!
Thanks MattH. For some reason I have been in the mood for some Brendon Fraser.I saw him live ( :-*) in London...
DR JRand I'm pretty sure it was you who posted the chicken. I know somebody did for sure, cause I remember looking at it.
DR TCB, the link was posted, however nobody said anything about porn. I think we were just told to look at the cute chicken.
I'm still really confused about the porn part. It's just a chickn standing there. Why are so many people thinking it's porn and going there?
And again, maybe I'm missing some of the chicken's talents. But the things I saw it do were definitely PG.
My favorite pizza is bacon and pineapple.
Oh yes, my other favorite pizza to go along with pepperoni and mushroom! Of course, for us it's called Canadian bacon and pineapple. :D
Our local Native-American casino is opening their brand-new addition tomorrow night with a concert in their new showroom by Bobby Goldsboro. Good Lord, I didn’t even know Mr. Goldsboro was still alive! Has someone been storing him, along with Walt Disney, inside a great-big chest freezer up above New Orleans Square???I think Bobby is in the autumn of his life honey. Guess you remember him in summer - the first time (when you were a broomstick cowboy). Was going to mention watching Scotty grow but thought you's get the wrong idea TCB. Has Bobby really left the straight life behind?

I would guess Michelle Pfeiffer did her own singing, unless she was also dubbed in THE FABULOUS BAKER BROTHERS.
I too like The Royal Family. I've hesitated to go see this one because I heard it did not get particularly good reviews. I also saw it in the fall of 2001 at The Haymarket Theatre in London in a wonderful production directed by my favourite director,Sir Peter Hall, starring Judi Dench as the matriarch, supported by an all-star cast: Harriet Walter (Harriet Vane in the Edward Petherbridge Lord Peter Whimseys); Peter Bowles (Rumpole and To the Manor Born); Peter Blythe (also of Rumpole); Toby Stephens (son of Robert Stephens and Maggie Smith) in the Jack Barrymore role; Julia MacKenzie (one of the leading British interpreters of Sondheim and part of the original creative team that did Side By Side By Sondheim in both London and NY); and the redoubtable Philip Voss (who has done many a great role at the National and RSC). It would be hard to top for me. I've also seen the lovely Ellis Rabb version.
Monday May 10th is the best morning for us to have breakfast at Du-Par’s. Bruce and Panni, is that a good day for you? Elmore are you sure you can’t join us?
Ooo, now I want some pepperoni and mushroom pizza... my favorite kind!
DRElmore,
The French saying is:
Il n'y a que les imbéciles qui ne changent pas d'avis!
(avis=opinion)
OK...what are the DR's favorite pizza toppings?
Personally, I've always had a fondness for anchovies, olives, garlic, and really spicy sausage.
Can hardly wait for Rhino to bring out THAT soundtrack....maybe they could put GREASE 2 on as an extra!
Meant to respond to this earlier, but forgot. Haven't seen it, either, but it is the first production next year at SUNY Brockport. (Remember, all you interested parties, that the final production at Brockport next season is Anthony Shaffer's MURDERER.)
I've just skimmed it -- basically for plot points and such to incoporate into the press materials -- and it seems interesting, if you have interest in the goings on with a quartet of friends and lovers on a college campus.
Last night I was at the Ahmanson Theatre, Dear Readers, to see a performance of Kaufman and Ferber's The Royal Family. I had never seen this play before, and really did not know what to expect, other than that it was a loving parody of the Barrymore family.
I enjoyed it quite a bit! Marian Seldes played the family matriarch, Fanny Cavendish, and she did a splendid job in an absolutely wonderful role. Kate Mullgrew attempted to channel, alternately, Kate Hepburn and Tammy Grimes in her raspy voiced performance as Julie Cavendish. Daniel Gerroll stole the show as the rakish Tony Cavendish. The sets and costumes were finely detailed and gorgeous.
OK...what are the DR's favorite pizza toppings?
Sorry DRElmore, I've been too laconic in my statement!
No, no, no I was concurring with your demonstration of your dad changing his mind....
I think "you", in the US of A, say "Stupid minds don't change!" and I was just quoting its French equivalent!
I was not being critical!
Sorry for the misunderstanding.
Elmore, in New York we go to Carvel’s. And isn’t there a vegetarian Chinese restaurant I am to try?
Now, judging from your pic, I could swear that I saw somewhere the other day! ;)
Or, was it Guy Haines?
You both look so much alike!
This is a picture of him from 5 years ago. He was 56 then. Looks a lot better than folks 10 years younger, or five, or ...... : )
I loved the performance I saw of Peter Gallagher and company in the Noises Off revival. Laughed my head off.
TCB - I think you SHOULD definitely come sing next Sunday - it ain't "opera" - nope. I want all the notes, but I'm looking more for a country sound, y'all. Think about it.
Hey TCB didn't Jrand give us that website earlier this week?I told the chicken to bark like a dog. It got down on all fours and ran around the room, lifting it's leg on every piece of furniture.
Okay I'm confused. It's a porn site? The chicken does commands (like sit or jump). What the heck else does it do that makes it porn?
George, you had to choose? We saw both THE ROYAL FAMILY and CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF. I thought Ned Beatty, former neighbour of ours and fellow Kentuckian was superb as big Daddy. <SNIP> Why choose? Go see as much as you can!
When GODS AND MONSTERS came out I read a review saying the obsession for Brendon Fraser wasn’t believable since Brendon wasn’t attractive or appealing. I could only thing WHAT AN IDIOT.Brendan Fraser isn't attractive or appealing? Lordy, he could even get Gertrude Stein all aflutter!
OH! I did get out to visit my nephew, and he did give me quite the wonderful hug - and even said, "I love you, Uncle Jojo!" However, my three year-old niece, Alyssa has seemed to have grown very UNfond of me. I tried to help feed her her afternoon snack, but as soon as I got within two feet of her, she started started crying(!) for her mom. At first I thought she wanted to be picked up, but as soon as I tried to pick her up, she turned away. She even ripped off her bib! - which was covered with lots of honeydew melon "remnants". It was quite the dramatic moment. Ah, well... Someday. -Apparently, she was already cranky since she hadn't napped yet today, so...
A followup on what DRPanni posted earlier:I'm not going to reprint the letter here, since it's right up-page in these posts. However, in a parallel idiocy, Bill O'Reilly is taking Gary Trudeau to task for having his comics character, B. D., become injured and losing a leg in the war. Of course, O'Reilly is acting like it's brand new news that Trudeau has been protesting wars since Viet Nam.

And, George, what's this about your housemate??? Have you been holding out on us?
