I think the Melissa Manchester song referred to way above is "You Should Hear How She Talks About You."  It was a great workout tune, not that I've really worked out regularly in over ten years, but I did when that song was out.

DR Rodzinski -  That's a coincidence, because I think of Mitchum as a great anti-odor and anti-perspiration combo.

Sorry, I know that was terrible, but it did get me another post.

Tax loophole #1 - If you have  a Schedule C, if you buy CD's or books as gifts, you can deduct up to $25 per gift.  So always buy an extra CD or book to give as a gift.  :)

Vixmom, the really sad thing is that I co-majored in computer science, and could program in five computer languages in the late 1970's.  But I can't make sense of anything beyond that.  Thanks for trying, though.  I really appreciate it.

 ;D :-*

...meaning I'm free that night.  :P

Granny is actually doing well. I talked to my mom today and she said that Granny is tired of the hospital food, but she could "probably eat some biscuits and gravy from Cracker Barrel." LOL!

On a sad and very ironic note, a friend of hers that we all grew up with died last night. About 9 months ago he was in a horrible car accident after church and was in a coma, which he came out of in April. Last night he was driving his family home from a soccer game while eating a burrito from Taco Bell, on which he choked to death. He was 42, I believe.

His older sister, one of my mother's best friends, suffered from breast cancer for 10 years and died in 2000. Their parents are still alive and are completely and understandably devastated. The matriarch recently overcame breast cancer of her own and the patriarch suffered a pretty severe stroke a couple of years ago.

I was watching a documentary of the Kennedy family on PBS today and thought about how it seemed their family was marked or cursed. Now I'm starting to think my mom's friend's family might be another Kennedy clan.

On the female side of that great star and great actress question, I'd say Jane Fonda was among the last.

DR GEORGE thanks for the Melissa Manchester update and photos.  Yup she is a terrific singer and songwriter.  Her pop tune of about 20 years ago, I forget the title, is a great record!  I still have the 45 record somewhere.  Used it in several classes and choreographed a sharp routine to it for a teen girl dance group.  Lots of fun!

My pleasure!  I haven't had a chance to listen to her new CD yet, but I'll be able to listen to it at work tomorrow.

E&T also stands for Entertainment and Travel.  So here's a CPA financial planning tip someone may want to try at an HHW gathering :)

If you're in show business, you should be able to deduct 50% of the cost of the meal if you pick up the check.  So if you're really really really tempted to do that, remember:  Never announce that you're picking up the check until after dessert is ordered.  That way, people will order frugally expecting to pay for themselves, and - alternatively - if someone orders the prime rib and the top-of-the-line brandy, you can always back down on your plan to treat.

Proper response if someone else offers to treat:

"Oh, I feel terrible!" followed by "If I'd known, I would have ordered more."  :)

After the Kritzer tour, I deposited Hisaka back at her hotel - I was all in at that point, so I left her to her own devices this evening.  I'll go gather her up tomorrow afternoon.

Well, speaking of being "all in", I believe I'm all in too right now...

I have some business to take care of in the morning, and then... who knows where the day may end up taking me.

Safe travels.  Feel better.  Sleep well.

Goodnight.

Yes, DR FJL, that is the song I was trying to think of.  Very catchy with a nice arrangement.  ;D

Final tax tip of the night:  You can still claim deductions for tax year 5765 if you incur them before sundown Monday.  Otherwise, you'll have to declare them on your 5766 tax return.  :)

Good night and many happy returns of the nu year.

Well, I'm finally all packed. I ended up taking the bigger suitcase. I know I'm taking way too much, but I most definitely will have layers! Plus there is room for any shopping I end up doing.

I need to leave home by 7:00AM to drive to Omaha and catch the plane. I am already looking forward to the chocolate chip cookies on Midwest Airlines.

I need to pick up my ticket to Sweeney Todd when I arrive, but the curtain isn't until 8:00pm so I should be able to do that and still make it to Barrymore's if there are no delays.
