Forgot to post my question yesterday.

Do you remember a club in LA called Whskey A Go Go from the mid 1960's? Did you go to it?

Happy Birthday to Joshie the Cat. We celebrate it today, since he was about eight weeks old when I got him in January.

It is so windy here the smoke from one of our two fires was pushed out of the fireplace into the house, repeatedly setting off a smoke alarm I have discovered is hard wired into the wiring (no battery).  Luckily we have magazines we can wave up next to it.   It is *really* stormy here.

Two of the three Tofurkys are history, and despite the nay-sayers here, they were absolutely scrumptious.

Our Thanksgiving gathering wound down about half an hour ago and I'm exhausted.  The turkey was one of the best we've ever cooked and there's a LOT left over.  Everyone's side dishes were wonderful.  We had a small crowd - 8 for dinner, 10 for dessert when our dear niece/goddaughter Lauren stopped by with her new boyfriend.

Tired as I am, I am most thankful this year for feeling again like hosting a family holiday meal.

I don't know how my mother put that meal on every year. We really simplified it this year, and I am so tired. We just picked our favorites and skipped the rest of the side dishes.

Yes, DR TCB.  When I was a new bride and shopping for my first Thanksgiving, I went to the butcher shop that my mother-in-law had patronized for years.  Mr. Pence, the butcher, was talking to me about the different brands of frozen turkeys and I asked which one was as good as fresh.  He peered at me over his half-glasses and said, "Mrs. Palmer, there's nothing like a fresh turkey."  We've bought fresh ever since and just a few weeks ago Richard's honor guard performed the military rites at Mr. Pence's funeral.

We just got back from the train station. Our guest is on his way back to Manhattan. We will be back to Manhattan on Saturday.

We had a great meal and a wonderful dinner. It was quiet and relaxed and I'm pooped! I mucked up the green bean casserole which I've made for years. This year I was tired and didn't mix the soup and milk well and it also didn't bake long enough I think but it was OK and we'll have it next year and I'll remember what to do then.

Tomorrow is not really shopping, just a trip to the craft store for Anthony to get some things for ornaments and then a visit/dinner with our dear friend in Smithtown.

Then on Saturday it's back to the city for more food and fun and then on Monday it's only 3 more days at work. It's been a long and difficult year and I'm looking forward to the time off. December 1 through January 2nd. Not a day spent in the office but I will go to the office Holiday Party where I will be honored for 20 years of service to the Foundation Center with a large gift card. Maybe a new television is in our future, or two tickets to Minnesota in June for my nephew's graduation from high school. We shall see.

Happy weekend to all and to all a goodnight.

But you still do cook it don't you?

OMG, I am so stuffed.

So am I.  We are waiting until 7:00 to have dessert.  Dinner was delicious.  Keith also made a vegetable casserole which was more like a yummy stew.

Hello, everyone.

The E & T DR Jeanne!  Happy Thanksgiving!

Oh, yes....DR Jeanne!  I remember someone by that name.  We used to have good times here with DR Jeanne....and then she just...disappeared.

Sniff.

Hope she is really and truly back now.

I am back from a fantastic dinner with Fred and Skip. We had trkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts and gravy, with a fabulous cranberry sorbet and apple pie. Skip did his usual glorious job, and i was thankful that two such wonderful guys took me in for the day.

Now I'm sleepy.
