The Brexit vote gobsmacked a lot of people. I was surprised; I thought they'd vote to stay.

A noisy audience would certainly spoil a show for me.

Has anyone read any of the Rivers of London novels by Ben Aaronovitch? They're about an young constable who works in the part of the Met that deals with the supernatural. He's also an apprentice learning to do magic. The stories are quite fun. I'm about to finish #3 in the series. The author has quite an imagination and is a very capable writer. Recommended by the likes of me.

Today is Dad's 88th birthday. I spoke with him earlier. He's much more lucid and chatty since someone is monitoring his meds and insulin intake more closely.

A Very Happy Birthday to your dad, John!

Many thanks.

We're driving down to San Marcos tomorrow to see a matinee production of OKLAHOMA!

San Marcos is about halfway between Austin and San Antonio.

OKLAHOMA! was the 2nd stage play I saw.  It was in the late 1940s; the National Company in Seattle.

The first play was HARVEY with Joe E. Brown when I was 5.

Is the university there doing the production?

I don't know if I can remember the first professional play I ever saw. Maybe it was a double bill of Edgar Allen Poe stories at Actors Theater of Louisville that was stage for Halloween.

I remember a high school production of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown and a church production of My Sweet Charlie somewhere in the same time period.

First professional musical was either Side by Side by Sondheim with Hermione Gingold or Seven Brides for Seven Brothers with Jane Powell and Howard Keel in their film roles.

In the seventh grade we started going to Shakespeare in the Park and when I was in high school I started ushering at Actors Theater, so the theater bug kicked into overtime.

I'm enjoying Antonioni's Le Amiche, especially his eye for what was in fashion then. The cars, the clothes, the whole looking of the upper class in Italy in 1955 is gorgeous.
