It is pouring sunshine in Arizona today.

Here is a photo my DH took this morning from a Cessna this morning:

The telephone line this morning was full of noise and static, so that's why I haven't been on line all day. Just couldn't keep the connection to the internet.

So, I spent the morning taking down the Christmas tree and putting away the decorations around the house. I don't do a lot of decoration but more this year than I have in past years.

And while I did it, I listened to the soundtrack of Lucy/MAME.

Once I got laundry started and lunch cooked and eaten, I sat down to watch some video items.

I began with some CSI episodes. The first one concerned a couple of people with "human werewolf syndrome," one of whom had been murdered. It was a melancholy episode, but well done and certainly interesting.

Finishing off disc 3 in the set, I watched a story of a motocross biker's murder. The suspects were a mother and daughter, both of whom were sleeping with the guy.

Another murder in the episode was a woman who had been tied up with Nick's kidnapping and near execution in the Season 5 finale episode directed by Quentin Tarantino. Nice to put a capper on that story.

Derbrucer-Nice photo of the fireworks.  What station do I watch to catch the fireworks in Bucharest?  They should be going off in about half an hour.

Then I watched 16 BLOCKS, a thriller from earlier this year starring Bruce Willis and directed by Richard Donner whom we've been talking about here for the past few days. It's a taut thriller/chase film with Willis as a cop trying to get Mos Def, a witness, to a courthouse to give grand jury testimony. The courthouse is only 16 NYC blocks away, but they have less than two hours to get there before the time limit expires.

A couple of places evidenced some weak plotting but on the whole, I liked it.

BTW, the DVD allows the viewer to watch the theatrical cut or the movie with an alternate ending. I chose the theatrical cut, but the alternate ending is also offered in the special features which I'll look at later.

I finished the afternoon watching some deleted scenes from 16 BLOCKS from the DVD. DOnner and the screenwriter (forget his name) offer introductions and in some cases commentary during the scenes explaining why they were excised.

The movie runs a very tight 102 minutes, so the cutting of these scenes worked well to keep the running time under two hours, perfect for this kind of movie.

TOnight, I'll finish the deleted scenes, look at the alternate ending, and then I'll be watching the Blu-ray disc of CORPSE BRIDE.

...and now it is time for you to post until the hopeful cows come home.

Now, about those cows:

Cows also 'have regional accents'
Quote
Cows have regional accents like humans, language specialists have suggested.

They decided to examine the issue after dairy farmers noticed their cows had slightly different moos, depending on which herd they came from.

John Wells, Professor of Phonetics at the University of London, said regional twangs had been seen before in birds.
The farmers in Somerset who noticed the phenomenon said it may have been the result of the close bond between them and their animals.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO OUR OZNIAN, DR TOMOVOZ AND HIS DP COLIN AND HIS DDs MAGNUS AND FOSCA!!!
Much appreciated.  Thank you Jose and Laura.

We had thunder and lightning as well as a few fireworks in the area. A restless night for Magnus & Fosca - and us.

Something odd is going on with the burning - it got to the end of the task bar, then just did that thing where the bar turns like a barber shop pole, then started burning again.  Am I doing something wrong?  Seems weird to me.

Happy New Year Tomovoz, saw a replay of the fireworks in Sydney. Looked spectacular!

Thank you Dakoat and Cilla.

I think it was the 75th Birthday of Sydney's bridge. He's still having problems with his teeth.

Thanks DR Jane.  How strange to be on different days on different continents and in different years.

Try LIVE RADIO ON THE WEB

They list quite a few Bucharest stations.
