Jose uses many aliases.
But he can always be lured out with pastry!

Sorry to read that you've been under the weather DR S. Woody. I hope you feel better soon.

I love his film THE THIN RED LINE.

Yes, it was very powerful. And I am not usually a fan of war movies.

I began the evening listening to the excellent commentary on the DAYS OF HEAVEN DVD. They got the casting director, the film editor, the costume designer, and the art director in a room and let them gab away about the movie. Really enjoyed all the backstage information they spilled about working on the picture.

Breaking news from the Larry Craig interview just waiting for TCB's "input," shall we say, department:  Suzanne Craig says descriptions of her husband's "areas" are incorrect on three counts.

Next, I skimmed through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. No gay story today, and it doesn't look promising for tomorrow either.

I, too, watched NCIS in high def tonight. Now I see why the standard definition DVDs looked so bad. The show diffuses the photography. Even in HD, the image is soft and hazy, so take away half the resolution, and it's going to look really soft and the color is going to bleed all over the place.

Again, I had the bad guy pegged very early.

I finished LEGALLY BLONDE tonight. Like so many musicals, though there were several big production numbers, the book scenes were really choppy in the second act, a rush to get to the happy ending.

I'd give it a B or B- if I were grading it. The ensemble really does work hard and deserves kudos.

And DAMAGES solved on of the major mysteries of the season today. One more episode to go to wrap up this story. Will be interested to see if they do one long story arc next season, or do closed ended stories a la THE CLOSER next season.

DR edisaurus - I've always found the safest to drink with Indian food is beer. Indian beer.  Kingfisher, Taj Mahal and Flying Horse are the most readily available Indian brands in the states.

As for wine... Well, a lot of it depends on whether they will be serving a predominantly spicy or mild dishes... whether some of the dishes will incorporate cream, butter or yogurt...  And, most importantly, whether you want the wine to complement the food or intentionally ease some of the burn/spice.  However, for Indian food, it's usually safer to go with very full-bodied wines - red or whites.

As luck would have it, I've always loved the wine selection at Tabla here in NYC - lots of choices, lots of price points.  And if you click on the link in the previous sentence, you can then click on the link that will bring up a PDF of their cocktail and wine list.

However, if you have a wine shop you frequent with a well-informed staff, I'd check with them too.

I'm wondering about that too.  I mean, next season could be the other trial... with some other complications thrown in for good measure, of course.

I finally had some good news - small good, but any good is good these days.  I would like some good news each and every day and maybe if I have a little each and every day it will wipe off the face of the fershluganah Earth all this bad crap that's been happening for the last month (at least it's sort of all morphed into the last month, as this entire year has been what I'd call a push me/pull you year - good, bad, good, bad, until you want to rip your eyes right out of the socket like Ray Milland in X - The Man With the X-Ray Eyes).

Edisaurus, I was in Amoeba earlier this evening (had to get out of the house, and took about twenty more DVDs in to trade on some new titles) and I saw two count them two copies of Sacco and Vanzetti.

Question for SWW/Jose or anyone else who wants to chime in:

Greg and I are having dinner with James Ivory Thursday night. Our host is cooking several dishes from Ismail Merchant's cookbook---Indian food---A shrimp appetizer and a chicken dish.

She has requested red wine, and since there will be 9 people there, I think, I plan to bring 3 bottles of red wine. (Her sister is also bringing one.) I think she chose red because that's her favorite, and what she thinks most people would like, whether or not it would actually go with the food.

So, any recommendations for a red wine that goes with Indian food, in the $20-30 range?

You can get a fine Australian Tokay for under $20.

I thought that tonight's REAPER was the finest of this season.
Then I watched LAW & ORDER SVU with a guest appearance by Ms Judy Kuhn.
I followed that with a highly amusing episode of CALIFORNICATION.
Now, before I go to sleep, I'm going to watch a bit of the other gay scandal of the year, the Israeli consulate, working for the United Nations, who was also involved in  . . .adult films. . . .

I always loved that old song "One Tokay Over The Line," even though it was banned in Salt Lake City.  :)
