DR edisaurus - I've always found the safest to drink with Indian food is beer. Indian beer. Kingfisher, Taj Mahal and Flying Horse are the most readily available Indian brands in the states.
As for wine... Well, a lot of it depends on whether they will be serving a predominantly spicy or mild dishes... whether some of the dishes will incorporate cream, butter or yogurt... And, most importantly, whether you want the wine to complement the food or intentionally ease some of the burn/spice. However, for Indian food, it's usually safer to go with very full-bodied wines - red or whites.
As luck would have it, I've always loved the wine selection at
Tabla here in NYC - lots of choices, lots of price points. And if you click on the link in the previous sentence, you can then click on the link that will bring up a PDF of their cocktail and wine list.
However, if you have a wine shop you frequent with a well-informed staff, I'd check with them too.
