And since I'm now experiencing some major deja vu, I believe we must have discussed misheard lyrics before here at HHW.
And? I mishear and misremember things all the time.

Not quite sure what this odd comment means, I was only saying I think I had mentioned these songs before.  Just skip my posts if they cause issues for you.   ;D

Good Morning!

I'm up, I'm up... And it was nice to get a full eight hours of sleep again. And during a tech/preview week no less! :)

And, apparently, I really needed the sleep.

I ended falling asleep on the couch last night. Again. When I woke up this morning - about a half hour ago - my "other" niece and nephew, Elena and Mason, were playing with their toys in the living room. They sort of ended up being my alarm clock. However, it turns out that they had already been up for a couple of hours, and my brother had even prepared breakfast for them. And I slept soundly through all of it.

As for the Topic of the Day...

The only one that comes to mind right now is the line from "Could I Leave You?" in Follies:

"You take the grand, Sugar. I'll take the spinet."

Until I had actually read the lyrics in the score, I had always wondered "What in the hell is "grand sugar"?"

Something like "super-fine sugar"?  Betsy was just looking at a recipe that asked for that, we had to research it online.

And of course there's this famous example, which many of us thought referenced a feminine hygiene product:

Are we supposed to be using patois to write our answers in today?

Is "mumbling" considered a patois?

Good news from DR JOSE.....did they put out a big spread for you all?

There was no par-tay last night. However, there is supposed to be not one, but two - count 'em TWO - parties on Opening Night. One right afterwards for everyone in attendance, and then a special after-party for the company. :)

The lobby bar in the new Arena does stay open after the show for post-show drinks. Some people did hang out for a while. If it hadn't been such a long week, I would have too.

This has become the day from hell at Toyland. I scanned the notes and dialogue, which went fine. Then I checked the full score, to find I'd left 3 pages - 15, 22, and 52 - at home. So, I had to print those out and reproof them. I went to scan the first 31 pages of the score to find the power strip for the phone, printer, and computer dead and had to deal with a new one. Then I scanned the first half of the score and the computer turned off, and I lost it. I scanned it again and the paper jammed. This last time the goddam score jammed again. Will this day ever end?

Damn damn damn!

BIG BROTHER LIVE FEED SPOILERS

*
*
*

For those who mentioned it, Evel Dick has left the Big Brother house. They have not said why yet. There was lots of speculation.  But he did tweet saying that he was not in jail, his son/girlfriend were not sick and he was not thrown out of the game. He gonna say what happened in a video in the next couple of days.

For anyone who loves live feed spoilers (i.e., what is happening in real time not on the show as they show it) i love hamsterwatch.com (and Dingo is on facebook doing updates).

Just taking a break from packing and thought I'd look into what's going on in Berea, KY, where we will spend tomorrow night on our way to Atlanta.  Of all things, there's a free performance by Richmond's Rose Barn Theatre of As You Like It.  Remember, that was my selection for my book group's Shakespeare in the Round discussion that I was unable to attend due to my aunt's death that morning.  I hadn't liked reading the play, but said I'd like to see it performed.

I began another post and the power went out, I started scanning and the paper jammed again. I don't know if it's the building's circuits or if the power strip I had has a circuit breaker that decides every 5 minutes I should stop. After two more power outages, I figured fuckit, packed up, left the music there and came home. On the way, I purchased at a hardware store two new power strips.

It's been a really shitty day and a waste of my time.

I remember Bette Ford as being a fine First Lady and having a great sense of humor about the situation she found herself in.

I also remember after the family left the White House that she and her husband and maybe one or two of their children were signed by NBC as commentators for several events.

One of them was a ballet....on network television!  Her comments were on tape.....but she was completely intoxicated OR on pain medication to the point of slurring her words so you could barely understand her.

And then she wrote in her book......as did Kitty Dukakis later almost word for word......"I continued to function and carry out my public duties and no one knew that I had a problem...."

Yes, we did, ladies.....it was more than obvious.  Bette made getting help for those problems a choice with less stigma than it had before.

I think that was for THE NUTCRACKER.

If you are so inclined, we would appreciate your vote for World of Wisdom as Best Bookstore.

http://wrtv.cityvoter.com/world-of-wisdom-bookstore/biz/36861

When you vote you are asked for an email and a password and you will get two email confirmations but NO OTHER emails.  This year you do not have to click a link in the email for your vote to count - so you can just delete those two emails when you receive them.

Thanks!
