Well, you've read the notes, the notes were misheard, and now it is time for you to post until the misheard cows come home.

Slept most of th day away yesterday.

Attempted to watch a few movies but kept on falling asleep. I eventually saw them all the way throug.

My favorite was The Gumball Rally. (A lot better than the Cannonball Run movies that followed)

I should say I am feeling a little bit better, but not a lot. I am planning to stay home for the next two days

And now it is Saturday.

My friend Tyson is getting married today......but I am unable to attend, since it is the second Saturday of the month and we have all of our SPECIALS running today.....

If you are so inclined, we would appreciate your vote for World of Wisdom as Best Bookstore.

http://wrtv.cityvoter.com/world-of-wisdom-bookstore/biz/36861

When you vote you are asked for an email and a password and you will get two email confirmations but NO OTHER emails.  This year you do not have to click a link in the email for your vote to count - so you can just delete those two emails when you receive them.

Thanks!

Most of my misheard lyrics are lyrics I never understood in a song....

like "chromium wheels in America" in WEST SIDE STORY....until I saw the song on paper, I didn't know what they were singing.

And the famous "gee our old LaSalle ran great" from ALL IN THE FAMILY, something else I could never understand....until they told us what it was....

I remember Bette Ford as being a fine First Lady and having a great sense of humor about the situation she found herself in.

I also remember after the family left the White House that she and her husband and maybe one or two of their children were signed by NBC as commentators for several events.

One of them was a ballet....on network television!  Her comments were on tape.....but she was completely intoxicated OR on pain medication to the point of slurring her words so you could barely understand her.

And then she wrote in her book......as did Kitty Dukakis later almost word for word......"I continued to function and carry out my public duties and no one knew that I had a problem...."

Yes, we did, ladies.....it was more than obvious.  Bette made getting help for those problems a choice with less stigma than it had before.

Hmmmmmm.....no new backers at Kickstarter.....I was hoping a couple of the Indiana BRAINEX people would part with a few bucks.....not least of which because MR BK picked up the BAR TAB after the show!  Hmmmmmmmmmm......

What have you done for me, lately?

TOD:  In "The Kind of Man a Woman Needs," by (who else?) Barbra Streisand, the line is "Youthful, no my man ain't youthful..."   I heard it as "Useful, no my man ain't useful,"  wondering why Barbra was singing with a lisp.

Good morning, all!

I have very little to report, but I may have more thoughts after I arrive at Toyland, where I must go to use the office scanner.

I'm also sorry to hear about Betty Ford; she seemed a god lady, and I admired her and her family.

Are we supposed to be using patois to write our answers in today?

Saturday morning greetings!  Yesterday I received an order from my cardiologist for my semi-annual fasting blood tests, so I went to the lab at 8:15 this morning.  I'm now home, coffee-ed and breakfast-ed, and ready for the day.

I can think of two examples where I couldn't full understand the lyrics:

In "Ballroom," Dorothy Loudon sings "There's a Terrific Band and a Real Nice Crowd." At one point she sings, "That isn't the Matterhorn/It's only a flight of stairs." I thought she sang, "It's only the Fred Astaires."

And in the B52's "Love Shack," the girls mumble something about Henry Rusk or hinges rusted or something that I still don't know what they mean. But I'm usually too busy dancing to care.

Good morning!! I really need to teach Ricky about weekends.  He thought I overslept at 6:30 and it was his mission to be sure I was up.

Today is very humid and windy, with the chance of rain. Haven't decided whether to go out and paint or my new thought....see if I can find some outdoor carpert that I can put over the deck.  That would also solve the potential heel falling through the hole issue.

Ummm. . .BK. . .I think it might be "wish they all could BE California Girls," unless the Beach Boys were significantly more misogynistic than I remember.  :)

Many of my misheard lyric memories are from my childhood when my much (MUCH) older sisters would listen to LPs and ask me what I thought was being sung.  One I remember especially, a propos of today's posts, was Gee, Officer Krupke from the soundtrack of WEST SIDE STORY, where my sisters just couldn't understand "Krup you!" at the end.  We were far too naive to even think of what it was "supposed" to be.  :)

Another one I very well remember from a few years later was the absolutely gorgeous Alan & Marilyn Bergman lyric to Dori Caymmi's gorgeous "Like a Lover."  My eldest sister wanted to send the lyric to her then boyfriend as a "love poem," but couldn't figure out one line.  We vacillated between "Its light arrives on tiptoe" and "Its lighter thrives on tiptoe."  Though I kind of like the second one, the first turned out to be correct.  :)

And since I'm now experiencing some major deja vu, I believe we must have discussed misheard lyrics before here at HHW.
