"Idol" Thought #3:

RE: Melinda - As others have commented, she truly is the real deal.  And I agree.  And I'm constantly amazed that the judges haven't called her on her more "theatrical" repertoire.  However...

There are times when she strikes me as being too polished.  Too prepared.  I would love to hear a bit of rawness, spontaneity - even some sensuality in her performances.  That would make her more of a "pop star" to me.

Thank you also Cillaliz.  It just happened so fast.  She was almost to her bed and she just went down.

I really feel for you Danise. I had a scare with my mom getting sick on the way home from her trip. When she was here she was so weak and really looked more fragile than I had ever seen her. She's a lot better now, but seeing her that way really hit me hard.   {{{Danise}}}

To DR Danise's mom!

If they think she broke her hip, shouldn't she go to an urgent care center for an x-ray?

DR Cillaliz, have you heard about the Mesa case about the 14-year-old boy that is being charged with terrorism?

I am looking forward to tonight's "Lost."

The rest of this season ought to be very interesting.

Last night was the first chance that I had to watch last week's episode of "Lost."  OMG!! :o The ending!  I had no idea that that would happen to the "new" people!

I'm glad that your Mom is better, Cilaliz.   It is hard to watch a parent looking frail.

As for today's auditions...

Another semi-slow day, but we saw some good people.  And, as always happens at these calls, I saw some people I hadn't seen in years - which is always very nice.

And we had a great monitor today.  She was lots of fun, and she kept things running smoothly throughout the day.  She even wrangled the last group of the day together a bit 'early' and we were done just a little after 5:00 - instead of finishing right at 5:30.  :)

My thought exactly.  I wanted to take her to hospital.  I don't understand this idea of waiting when someone may be hurt.

I have some new news about Mom.  She had a doctor appointment today and while I was helping her back to her room to rest for a moment before we left, her right hip gave out on her.  To make along story short, the doctor wants her to have a x ray tomorrow because she may have either cracked or broken her hip.

What makes me mad is that we were kept waiting for so long that by the time she told us Mom needs the x ray, it was to late to take her to get it!  Ugh!

Poor Mom is in bed with a heating pad until tomorrow morning.

~~~SUPER VIBES FOR DANISE'S MOM'S HIP!!~~~
"Teen Angel"
"Tell Laura I Love Her"
A lot of Burt Bacharach
I've been listenting to BK's "The Burt Bacharach Album" that I got from BK and his $10 sale.  WHY DIDN'T I GET THIS CD SOONER??  I LOVE THIS!!  And great charts, Larry!  The Twiggy CD is next...with all orchestrations by our very own Elmore. ;D
Audition Tale Time...
A gentleman came in today to audition.  I've played for him before, and let's just say, the last time I played for him, he was not that complimentary of me.  So... I start his playing song, he starts singing after the intro is done.  Then about two lines in, he flubs a line, then asks to stop and start again.  -Which is OK - sometimes you forget a line.  No biggie.  So, I start he again, he starts again, and things go swimmingly.  Well...
After talking with the casting agent, and after recalling some of the recent auditions I've played for him, it occurs to both of us that he always messes up, and he always recovers... successfully.  Hmm...
Games people play...
Thanks Jose.  I'm really worried that Mom will have to go to the hospital.
Danise, I am so sorry to hear about your Mom.  I am surprised that they didn't put her in the hospital today, rather than make her come back tomorrow for an x-ray.  But I am living proof that hips can be fixed!
The tracking info on the USPS site seems to be updated randomly.  I've received packages that are still listed as being "at destination post office".  I've found that calling the 800-number provides more current info - although you have to push a couple of buttons and sit through the automated info first to get a real person.
DR MBarnum - Well, maybe you could track down the contractor who worked on your bathroom back in 1941.  Who knows, maybe he could have been a "sword and sandal" actor at one point and time?  Who knows?  You two could have a nice date meeting.
And thank goodness that they can!   :)
I just fear them putting her under to do any kind of surgery since they keep saying that she is having breathing problems.
Jose!  If the contractor worked on the bathroom in 1941, he would be way way way (that's three ways) too young for MBarnum.
