Well, you've read the notes, the notes were high and had a few points, and now it is time for you to post until the high and pointy cows come home.

As a curiosity factor I will probably watch the final episode of All My Children.

I never really watched the show over the years, but final episodes are always fun to watch.

DR MICHAEL S - I have watched the DVD of MMMMW - and in his first scene with lots of dancing - there does seem to be some exposure by Mr Dick Shawn.....however, it is probably the lining in this swim trunks rather than anything else.

DR ELMORE - I think Mr Duddy has all the qualifications to make a fine film performer.

TOD:

DVD - The Bridesmaids, which was funny....but so LONG....and some of it was not pleasant.  It was nice to see Mr Jon Hamm in a movie, and most of the actresses were very good - I even liked Maya Rudolph, and I usually don't.

CD: Bikini Beat (recommended by DR MBARNUM - 60's & 70's party music from Italian films.

I never really watched the show over the years, but final episodes are always fun to watch.

Is today the final episode?  I'll have to try to get Tivo to record it (though Tivo is on his last legs these days...)

I was a semi-faithful AMC fan during its heydays in the late 70s/early to mid 80's.  As I recall, the acting was more than decent for daytime and the writing solid--it was probably the only soap that never went with the outrageous sci-fi/supernatural storylines that the other soaps came up with in those days.  But I can't speak for its recent quality--I haven't seen an episode in the last twenty years.
Title: Re: THE HIGH POINTS

MEdia Check:

iPod:  Nothing.  I seem to have developed an aversion to earphones lately--I just can't relax and listen to music played that way

Tivo:  the inner mechanisms of my Tivo seem to be going kaput.  I set it to record something and it either quits half way through or records a different channel alltogether.  Time to look at a new unit, I'm thinking...

DVD:  catching up on the superhero movies of the summer:  THOR, X-MEN: FIRST CLASS.  My sister dropped off BRIDESMAIDS, but I refuse to watch it because I cannot stand the extremely overrated Kristen Wiig.

Re Mad Mad Mad Mad World - Doesn't Ms. Merman show much of her chest when the keys are being taken from her in the scene where she's turned upside down and shaken?

Or is that the director's cut?
Title: Re: THE HIGH POINTS

BRIDESMAIDS does feature one of my absolute favorites, Maya Rudolph, who is co-starring in the new sitcom UP ALL NIGHT.  While she is a hoot on the show, I don't think it's very funny.  And I think that the child they are using is far too old to be at that "up all night" stage.

THE JETSONS premiered on this date forty-nine years ago.  It was the first color program broadcast by ABC.

I'm surprised that Hollywood never made a live-action version.  I think I wouldn't mind seeing that.

Yes Ethel Merman has a couple of scenes where her ... well... yes they are in good shape, upside down.

I don't like Kristen Wiig either.....but she is okay in Bridesmaids....although several scenes are sketch-like in the the writing....I guess we can only be glad that Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are no where to be seen.

I prefer to listen to music going "through the air" too rather than directly to my eardrums. Even when I'm in a "workout" mode, I'd rather set my own pace and rhythm instead of matching it up to some song on my iPod.

Good morning, all! I didn't get to bed before 2am, so i slept in this morning; I got about 6.5 hrs of sleep last night, and that means I'll be unconscious by 10 tonight.

Yesterday was a really good day, so I'm staying around the apartment. doing some marketing, doing some writing.  We'll see how it goes.

DR Ben, I saw the original production of MARRY ME A LITTLE; it was quite wonderful, and I love the CD.

TOD:
DVD:  the three Netflix still sit here and I've forgotten what they are!
CD:  Academy Award Songs, Bob Hope, Guy Haines

Good morning, all!

DR Ben, I saw the original production of MARRY ME A LITTLE; it was quite wonderful, and I love the CD.

I saw it too, although I saw the original, original show mounted Off-Off Broadway by The Production Company. I didn't see the Actors Playhouse move because I was out of town at the time and it didn't have a long run. The Off-Off Broadway production was at a hole in the wall in Chelsea which I don't think even exists anymore. I remember that Craig Lucas asked Sondheim for permission to do the show with Norman Rene when Lucas was still in the ensemble of Sweeney.

We are doing laundry when I get home from work then we will have dinner out someplace.

Tomorrow it's supposed to rain and be cloudy so we will watch something, perhaps Lillian Russell starring Alice Faye and Don Ameche.

Sunday I'm going to the Broadway Cares Flea Market (I may see DR Kevin H. there as well) and I'll be doing Mr. Moore (and Mr. Raines) a favor while I'm up there.

I'm up - not quite enough sleep.  The Internet went down just after I posted the notes so I called Time Warner and got the recording that they knew the Internet was down (bravo) - I wanted to speak to someone and find out how long, and I was kept on hold for, oh, I don't know forty-minutes before I hung up.  They're supposed to have humans there 24/7 but they kept telling me there was a higher than usual call volume - yeah, right, at one in the morning.

So...

One of the "highlights" of last night was what happened after the show.

As I was walking out, I happened to be right behind "The Texting Bitch", and could hear her complaining to her companion about how rude it was that "that woman" behind her asked to stop texting during the show. Well...

"Excuse, ma'am, but we both have friends and colleagues on that stage and you were being rude to them."
-No, I wasn't. Besides, she kept talking behind us.
"The only time I noticed her talking was whenever you took out your phone to start texting again. We could all see the light from your phone."
-No, you couldn't. I kept it in my bag.
"You were holding it up to your face."
-No, I wasn't. Besides, I had an emergency.
"Well, if you did have an emergency, then you should have left notice with the house manager, Dixon. And if it was a real emergency you would have left."

That's when she stopped talking.

Bravo, DR Jose! Last night at GUEST OF THE NATION, the lady from Dublin representing the National Concert Hall, where we recorded EILEEN, sat two or three seats from me and texted throughout the entire concert! I wanted to slap the bitch, who should know better.

Ron emailed me and sad that Bryn Terfel went backstage to see him after the show. He didn't mention Bette Midler.

I was just reading a calorie-diet site - this site made it seem like three potato pancakes having four hundred calories was TERRIBLE.  Say what?  Have that and a turkey sandwich and you're well under 1000 calories.  What's the problem?

Since I'm going to The Smoke House later, I checked on cups of clam chowder - that's definitely something to stay away from.   Prime rib, on the other hand, is not so horrible if that's your meal o' the day - a generous 12oz hunk o' meat is around 1000 calories.  Since I can eat up to 1400 and lose weight, that may be what I have this very evening.

What size are the potato pancakes?

And what else are you having with the potato pancakes? Applesauce? Sour cream? -They could also be "bad" since in terms of vitamins and minerals, they're on the low end of things. Additionally, since potato pancakes are usually fried, there's oil/fat to consider. -If you keep track of fat grams in addition to your overall caloric intake.

You'd be surprised at how many tech-heads, gamers, Twitterers, eBay-ers, etc. are online at 1:00am.  Just sayin'.
Because it's always 5 o'clock somewhere.

No baked potato? No asparagus? No bread? No creamed spinach? ::)

:)

Good for you!!!!
Amen.

Not the taping. The World Premiere simulcast at theaters around the country. Sad to say, it wasn't publicized in San Antonio, so there were only a few of us who showed up and shelled out our $20 a ticket. Still, it was fun seeing the Plaids sing with Carol Channing afterward.

DR MICHAEL S - I have watched the DVD of MMMMW - and in his first scene with lots of dancing - there does seem to be some exposure by Mr Dick Shawn.....however, it is probably the lining in this swim trunks rather than anything else.

Thanks for looking at Dick Shawn dancing. Maybe I'll have another look.

I'm listening to Marry Me A Little, the 1981 Off-Broadway show of what was then obscure Sondheim songs. I forgot how much I like this show.

DR Ben - Thanks for that "reminder". I've always been fond of MMAL too.

The recording of MMAL has (I believe) the only complete version of Can That Boy Foxtrot

I can listen to the Forever Plaid DVD while I'm working, then I'll listen to Anything Goes.

;D

The movie had the original cast except for Jason Graae. I thought he was an original cast member. Anyone know why he wasn't in the movie?

Back from a fun afternoon in Cincinnati with my Mother (and, surprise, Rob).  Mom and I went to the Container Store for her to spend the gift cards we gave her last Christmas and Rob caught up with us there between appointments to look at apartments.  He timed it just right to join us at the Cheesecake Factory for lunch and he was a big help getting Gram into and out of the car, etc.

Unfortunately, while we 3 were having fun, Richard was coping with being locked out of our house because he'd grabbed the wrong set of keys on his way out and our emergency options weren't in place (they are now...)

We took the pooches for a nice walk this morning.  Now I'm doing laundry.

Last night DGC Kitty kept her dinner down but lost her breakfast this morning.  This is surprising as it is canned food, which is has for dinner, and not the dry food she has for breakfast that is a problem.

It's either hairballs or a food allergy.  I had a vet that once said "Cats are designed to throw up, get used to it"

No sign of hairballs & it usually happens within the 20 minute time frame after eating.  Craig knows a few canned foods to avoid & the others tend to be inconsistent in causing a reaction.  It seems easier to keep her on the same food a couple of cans before switching flavors.

There have been some regional productions that have been well reviewed. It all depends on whether you're as picky as a New York critic. I wouldn't mind seeing it. I'm probably going to go see a local production of "Xanadu" when I get back to S.A., which got decent but not rave reviews, as I recall.

So, Texas has done away with last meal requests for inmates who are to be executed. Seems the following was ordered by one inmate, according to USA Today:

Brewer requested two chicken fried steaks, a triple-meat bacon cheeseburger, fried okra, a pound of barbecue, three fajitas, a meat lover's pizza, a pint of ice cream and a slab of peanut butter fudge with crushed peanuts. Prison officials said Brewer didn't eat any of it.

I don't know that I'd eat at all if I were facing the same fate, but I still probably wouldn't waste that much food, either.

Tomorrow afternoon, I have to attend a funeral.  After the service, at the reception, I will be reading a letter, written by the deceased, where he discusses theater and his playing of Emile in SOUTH PACIFIC.

I found out they program your address into the modem so if you call 911 it will register your address. But if you move and don't change the address in the modem you call 911 and the emergency people are sent to your old address

Not good.  I wonder if they send occasional requests for up to date info.

It's not that bad, they tell you not to move without getting the address changed in your modem.  That isn't that big a deal

DR TCB I hope the funeral gives you some sort of comfort.

I'm off to watch PRIME SUSPECT & THE MENTALIST.

Apparently it didn't take an hour.  Email just came in saying it should have downloaded.  I don't see it yet.

It downloads for me in a few seconds

I don't plan to ever move again, of course that could always change, but for now it's not a big deal

Tomorrow the city is having an ecycling event, as in recycling electronics.  I have a ton of old printers, fax machine from my old office..as in my office in the 1990s. and a bunch of stuff that is WAY out of date, so I'm going to load up the car and get rid of it tomorrow.  Can't wait.  I actually have 2 days without anything that HAS to be done for the office.   I can breathe

I'm so confused.  So a defendant can be charged hundreds of thousands in Florida for police work, but then shouldn't a person found not guilty also get their full attorney's fees paid.  I'm not sure I understand what's going on with the Casey Anthony judge and when it will stop.  Almost sounds like the judge didn't agree with the jury's verdict on the overall case and is trying to make a point on the lying issue.

When Skylab fell I had a dream that it went through our house and landed in my bedroom.  I'll be glad when this space junk is on the ground

FJL, they're charging it as restitution for the false info  case. It's bogus, but happens all over the country.

Sorry for your loss. Glad you're able to be there to help remember him.

Back from a fun session in the editing room - we spent most of the time smoothing out sound levels but I won't know until Monday when I get a new DVD whether it's smooth enough or whether we went TOO far in bringing down some of the song levels - several of them were wildly louder than the dialogue levels, so hopefully what we did worked.

Then it was on to the Smoke House.  Company was, as always, deelightful, and the food was yummilicious.  I had a cup of clam chowder (the best), three small pieces of the garlic cheese bread (less than half of the top of a loaf of a subway sandwich foot long), and the seafood Louis with a little too much dressing, but boy was it good.  I'm very full but it was my only meal o' the day.

Good Evening!

I made it through Act Two.

I had a nice, non-construction-zone delayed drive back to my brother's house.

And now, since I've been up for 18 hours...

Goodnight.

I just heard on a commercial for local news that they now think that some parts of this falling satellite may land in Washington! :o

but today was a good day -  Dad's PET scan came back clear -- a chest xray had caused some alarms to go off and we all feared lung cancer

Sometime last week, my sister asked if I wanted to walk with her and my niece in the Thurston County AIDS Walk (http://olyaidswalk.com/).  I said sure...I've done it before.  Actually, I'd only participated once before, in 1998.  I was in our (then) annual "Babes With Big Hair" AIDS benefit revue and many of our cast participated.  There was also a famous person guest, the then current Miss America, Kate Shindle!  I actually got her autograph on a t-shirt, and I still have it somewhere. :)

Well, this year's event is happening tomorrow morning.  I need to get to my sister's house by 9:00 am...which is not as early as the 8:00 start time for the All Staff Training Day that I went to on Wednesday.  The whole course is only supposed to be 5 km, which is just over 3 miles.  A couple of months ago, I and the family walked about 4 miles at the Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge, so this will be a bit easier. :D

Anyway, I put a donation sheet for the walk at work and I got $110!  AND people actually paid!  We have to bring all the money to the event tomorrow, so everyone who donated had to pay me by today, which they did. ;D
