Today I was taking a shortcut through the library and heard the reference librarian on the telephone say

"Well, maybe Prince Philip is 5' 11 1/2" NOW, he is getting older"   I don't know why but it really cracked me up.

Because it was a silly sentence, out of context I can only hope.

I'm assuming he meant that he was shrinking, not growing, but the librarian was quite animated in discussing it.  Too funny

Thanks to DR Mbarnum and Aunt Hetta.

I am so glad that DR Jane commented on this card. Because somehow my reader skipped it. I would have hated to have missed it.

Until later!

Today I got two more CDs to add to the pile--the iconic Swedish singer-songwriter Jose Gonzalez.  :)

DS Zach's middle school orchestra is performing tonight and for once I don't have a gig myself and can attend.  Betsy is away in Eastern Oregon so this will be a nice father-son outing.

How does one upload a sound file?  Where?  I certainly wouldn't put a rough iPod recording on YouTube.  The music is really cute, I think - many key changes within the verses - it just came flowing out like that.  Starts in Ab for the first two lines, modulates to A for the next two, then to C for "Melodyland" and the next line, then to Eb for the next, and then back to Ab for the next verse.

I wish I understood what all that means

My sister and I spent the evening watching the Richard Gere version of SHALL WE DANCE and the "Behind the Scenes" feature.  She owns it, but I'd never seen it.  I enjoyed it very much.

I will probably be E & T until tomorrow evening.  Nancy and I are going to Lansing tomorrow to have lunch with Mary Linda and her Mom and to do some genealogy work.  We're leaving about 9:30 in the morning and probably won't be back until dinnertime.

'night!

I just learned that my dear friend Russell Warner died in Seattle this morning. He's been in terrible health for a long period of time that I cannot say I am completely shocked. I am very sad.

Besides being a very dear friend, he was a talented composer and an excellent orchestrator and arranger. I will miss him enormously.

I was in the Quartet in high school. I was either Olin Britt or Oliver Hix - I can't seem to remember right now. However, I do remember singing the the baritone/lead in some songs and then the second tenor in others. Ah, the joys(?) of adolescent male voices. ;)
